He was fierce, but he became a favorite after he returned from "No Mas." About the the punk wallet snatcher. I don't think Roberto could catch anyone over the age of 5, or under the age of 85. Have you seen him lately? --- Leonard ... As mentioned above he & Tommy still have a rivalry going on. It speaks for their great competitivness. It's just not as attractive when 2 ex-champs in their mid-60s go at each other.

Ray was actually serious for a moment when Hearns said he knew he was scared. That look in his eye was unmistakable. Leonard always had that passive / aggressive mindset when faced with a worthy foe. That was part of his mental game. But it was definitely on play here for a couple of moments. It calmed down after they stood up and made light of the thing but it flared up again slightly when Leonard asked Tyson sarcastically if Hearns was speaking German, mocking the Man's obvious issues with speech after the wars he's been in over the years. Leonard is a cheeky piece of work, always has been but a top notch elite fighter and legend. The same goes for Hearns. Tommy in his prime was something to see. If he were around in his prime today from 147 to 160/68 he would dominate. He carried his power all the way up to light heavy. But his absolute BEST Era was 147 to 160. Hearns finally got his revenge in the rematch even though it was declared a laughable draw. Even Ray openly admits that he felt Hearns won.I like them both but always preferred Hearns demeanor over Leonards. Tommy always came across more humble and real than Ray who can come across at times as a disingenuous politician.
@PogChamp It comes down to styles and getting out at the right time. Tyson sounds like this only because its clear he's under the influence of some form of recreational drug. Most likely Marijuana. I say most likely because he owns Marijuana producing outlets and he extols the virtues of the supposed benefits of Marijuana use as he himself smokes it regularly. He looks a bit glazed over around the eyes and just his overall demeanor here. I've seen him in several situations on social media etc....where he talks quite fine, lucid and in total command of what he wishes to articulate. Ray Leonard, Lennox Lewis, Floyd Mayweather, Oscar Delahoya, Winky Wright etc....technicians per say, don't take nearly half of the punches other fighters do because of their styles. They're primarily boxers who engage from the outside and mid-range style as opposed to primarily infighting. And they also practiced responsible defense. Hearns who was the perfect combination of a boxer puncher( better than all those I just mentioned) with an exquisite left jab, CHOSE to engage in punch outs and he stayed on far too long in the sport. Because he had a tendency to stand in the pocket on occasions, he took punishment he didn't need to take such as in the Hagler, James Kitchen, Iran Barkley, Juan Roldan etc.... bouts. He also was a part of the famous Kronk Gym style and in their sparring sessions that gym was known for very lively hard core sparring in degrees as high 95 etc....something I'm sure didn't help his case even with headgear on. Hearns when he boxed was a thing of beauty. NO ONE could OUT BOX Thomas Hearns. Had he did more of his excellent boxing skillset combined with his power when needed, I have zero doubt that Hearns would be speaking much better today. Boxers tend to last longer than sluggers. ALTHOUGH every fighter is different in so far as how they can endure a tough fight. Some sluggers like Jake Lamotta, George Foreman, Julian Jackson etc....took some hard hits but they sound like Bank Presidents when they speak today. They are special cases where genetics just favors them. And then you have slick boxers who emphasize defense like Wilfred Benitez and they end up horribly with CTE and other deteriorating factors. This is the exception NOT the rule.
Its all about styles and avoiding punishment.
