Rona! You have the best videos ever! You make me fall in love with nursing all over again! I'm in nursing school in Canada right now and you're channel is so great for keeping me motivated and you yourself are an inspiration! You just have so much knowledge to share and so many amazing quotes! Keep up the good work and for future video it would be cool if you can talk about how the reality of the job differs from your expectations and what you did to prepare to start working; did you volunteer, seek the advice of your instructors, do some research etc...
    All the best!

Hey Rona, great advice for new nurses. It is so important that new graduates know what to expect when entering the workforce and I think you did a beautiful job explaining the greatest hurdles they will have to overcome in their practice. I liked that you stressed the importance of stressing advocating for your patients, and how it may be intimidating to confront a physician regarding a medication order etc. it means a lot for the patient and physician's most times will respect you more for speaking up for the patient, because the patient is their patient too. I hope all is going well and best of luck!

I already love you. I graduate in December of 2015. I have came back to revisit your video because of a comment you made towards the end of this video. It inspired me and I am going to post it on my FB wall as a reminder. Currently, I am going thru hell with an instructor. She has singled me out of 8 students in our clinical setting. She has upset me, made me cry, and stressed me out. Now, I am pissed and stronger than ever. I have come to far to let ONE person break me. Thanks again. I look forward to more videos!

I graduated in december '14, took my boards last week in January and received my license first week in february. I've been job searching since then and it is now the end of May and I am still yet to be called in for a single interview. It's beginning to get frustrating because I am not sure what I'm doing wrong to not be getting any job offers :-(.

There is NO generic national nursing shortage, only staffing deficits relative to your locale (state, county, etc.). If you're in California as a new grad with only an A.D.N., good luck. Even the residency/internship programs receive thousands of applications for only a handful of spots. In areas of the country with high population densities, the B.S.N. is and has been the standard for a while now. I know of people that had to leave California because they couldn't wait 6 years to get into nursing school, only to return with no job prospects and go back to the state in which they graduated to take positions originally offered during clinicals. There is, however, a shortage of advanced practice nurses, or nurses with a B.S.N. and experience, that is pretty consistent nationwide.

we were told not to come early to look our patient up because its technically not our patient till we clock in...which is a HIPPA violation. i think it sucks because going in early helped me a lot to look up pt info
