    Pog.
Not surprised. In the past scientists also found that even playing a piano makes you better at math. I'd say modern competitive video games are a lot like playing a piano but also when someone is trying to mess with your tune.

this only demonstrates that sc2 players have these traits, not that sc2 causes them

i disagree, i didn't have these traits before i tried sc2. i was completely inept at understanding abstract concepts. After sc2 ,i'm the same, but i can play sc2.

nah you misread it, the terran players were excluded cuz the researchers failed to find their brains

I think their conclusions are in reverse. We are intelligent therefore we play starcraft. Not, we play starcraft, therefore we become smart.

while I appreciate this was an article from a reputable source, why not read the study/journal/paper instead?

They're often very big with a lot of water: useful for researchers but not for anyone that's not going to use it for their work, boring and technical with a lot of words being gibberish to pretty much everyone not working in the field.
idk about you, but I can't read any research papers unless they're about the topic I'm very, very interested in and I can use the information in the paper for work I'm doing. As an example, I can watch a YT overview of a research paper on fitness, but it's too boring for me to read the whole paper: it will take a whole day and I won't even understand a lot of information.
