This peddling by 'Mark' of players 'downing tools' is a transparent attempt to deflect critical attention away from his beloved ETH. It is also flawed thinking in that it implies the team have the talent and ability to perform well and get results, but are taking a decision not to do so. In reality these players don't have an inner footballing capacity or level that can be turned on or off. The likes of Bruno, Rashford, McTominay, Rasmus (and others) have no world-class standard within them just waiting to be activated. They are, as revealed by dire performances and results across the season, over-hyped and of a mediocre standard. With a manager of similar standing.

Who are we going to replace him with who's going to put that kind of work in every week? He's one of our top scorers this season and if we're selling him and keeping the likes of Anthony then I'm at a loss to who manages our transfers and how smooth their brain is. IF we have a clear out and he goes, whoever will get him will get a pure work horse and someone who will perform consistently.
Yes, he's not the best but he's one of the only players we have that we know will perform a role consistently every week. I think even Fergie would keep him during a rebuild because he does a job and he just gets on with it, and you need someone like that in the squad.

You can teach players to be less "selfish to make a simple pass, but the level of situational and spatial awareness for high level (position based) technical offensive football isnt something you can just teach players through reputation. Most players dont have the brain an processing power to recognize, predict and anticipate those on and off the ball movements. Let alone them having the technical & handling skills to carry it out on time and accurately, under pressure and/or in tight confined spaces. Mctominay and Evans their work ethic is commendable, but neither of them would make it in any of the big Ajax and/or Barcelona teams. And at the end of the day also have to be moved on if you want to reach that higher level.

Was looked at, the physios gave him the all clear and gave him some magic tablets 😅 no idea what they were and he came back on and finished the game despite it clearly still hurting him.
