    Another thing about interogating Mayumi and using “yes” as a confession. In japanese the word “yes” is “hai” which directly translates more accurately to “affirmative”. So in mant cases where she responds “yes” to questions, it’s more accurate to suggest she’s merely saying “I understand” or “I agree”, not “that is true.”. In many cases in japanese you answer “yes”(hai) to questions despite the “correct” response being “no”.

You brought up some great points, but without more specific details on the timeline of these events, I couldn't be sure. After watching this video though, there is basically no doubt left in my mind of his innocence. Laying out all the information like this really helps put it into perspective. And really, seeing the emotion that he portrayed here, the conviction with which he stood his ground, this would have been extremely challenging to fabricate.
    What ultimately sealed the deal here was the extremely blatant, disgusting lies from the police. The interrogation of the kids was sickening! I can't believe the gall that the cop had to stand there, right outside of the camera's view, and dictate to a DHS rep what questions she should ask to help aide him in his attempt at convicting an "innocent until proven guilty" man. The DHS isn't their to provide police with a workaround to children's rights. And on top of that, when she did interrogate him, the kid completely exonerated his father.

I think it's a fair sentiment, and I agree with him at a high level: we're constantly being bombarded everyday with information, and there's simply no amount of time to verify everything we see. Couple that with the fact that most people never bother to verify anything in the first place, and people's reluctance to be wrong and feel lied to, and lies spread like wildfire, while corrections and refutals barely get any traction in the first place.
      I also think you jumped the shark with him (unless you know them from somewhere else), because you just assumed they were talking about reptilian conspiracies and not things like the more usual political lies. (Either that, or there's some hidden comment I can't see).

    I can't believe that the polygraph is still in use when it has been proven over and over again not to be reliable at all. Holy shit when will that lunacy end? Even the inventor hated what it was being used for.

    • @apatheticlungs1577
      @apatheticlungs1577 Před 5 lety +121

      polygraph test usage in police stations is actually quite interesting, as these days polygraph test results are generally inadmissible evidence in court.
      Police use the test primarily to convince people to reveal information either through fear of the test itself and "being caught lying" or because doing the test makes them feel confident to talk as what they say 'will be considered true".
      Basically, it's a trick that cops will use under the assumption that the person they are interrogating doesn't know that the test is no longer in usage when it comes to compiling/presenting evidence. You should always refuse a polygraph test.
      The results of the polygraph test are almost never/never used in any official court documents, but what people say while strapped to it is considered admissible testimony. The real kick to the balls being that even something the test flags as a lie can be used as a truthful admission.
