tavy@ i have always admired that referee becouse he takes no nonesense and isnt scared to get in about it as you see here! Alot of the referees at old firms do bottle it and let mayhem go on round about them. If its at ibrox they give rangers everything and visa versa. Wich is shocking becouse these men are meant to be proffesionals to. I remember about 13 years ago celtic players at ibrox were being elbowed in the face, kicked while they were on the ground after being pole axed and lots more. And the referee booked 3 celtic players for what gawwd knows. I sat watching in total shock and dismay at what i was seeing. Rangers won 1-0 a thinck. And ive just lost interest in scottish football ever since. Well a had done around 9 years before it but thought i will watch this game just becouse i was bored. And i was football daft growing up. I never thought i would lose intirest in it though!!! I still enjoyed english games. But even thats going the same way! My dad said "how do you thinck i feel, i lost intirest in 1966 when hurst's shot in the world cup final came down off the bar hit the goal line and bounced out. The linesman had his flag up, that means it didnt cross the line and he saw the whole lot. Till the referee ran over and had what seemend a long 2 minute talk, with one saying it wasnt a goal and the ref saying it was a goal and were in england and if you and me want to go home alive you have to give that goal, ok, ok. Then the lines man pointed to the half way line then the referee nodded as if he had not said anything and was saying ok IT WAS YOU that gave that goal not me. Then ran off back to restart the game. It was pure fear at its best. Or maybe corruption. Well it is corruption too! But that linesman clearly said no goal. When i was older and saw for the first time i said it wasnt in. You can clearly see the ball didnt cross the line. Its instinct. They looked at it again in 2001 a thinck with these experts with the best technology in the world and they watched the way geoff hurst hit the ball as he was falling back the way and said he deffinetly put a back spin on the ball so when it hit the cross bar and came down onto the line the back spin wouldnt have put it over, it wouldv put it out more. Alot more. Plus they viewed it from the side and the technology replayed it as it came down and they enhanced it to show that half the ball did cross the line at most but the other half didnt. So it wasnt a goal. Wich we all knew just by watching it. They were asked if geoff hurst hadnt have hit the ball falling back the way he did and hit it full on would it have crossesd the line? And they said more than likely. But that doesnt mean it wouldv. It couldv whent any where. Over the bar. Down off the bar and bounced 2 to 3 yards out. Well all know it wasnt in. Even english players blush who played that day and saw it. When asked was it in. Yes. they say then change the subject to another game!!!lol
