I was a 15 year old in the Celtic end that day. A proper scottish cup final with mostly home grown players. Will never forget what it was like when we scored....got tossed around like a dinghy in a storm at sea. Amazing memory.
how did they get away with having good standing and a roof over the Rangers end at Hampden (that acted like a speaker for the support) for so long whilst the Celtic fans stood on ash and boards....Hahahaaa. Fuckin terrible when you think of the advantage it gave to one team for so long. i can remember parking the car as a kid with my dad in the hills of Mount Florida and all you could hear was the deafaning sound of Celtic fans singing but when you got to the stadium the roof kept the Rangers fans noise in the stadium , whilst our fans noise whent straight up outta the stadium.... It just makes me laugh as to the way things used to be. Everything was squeued to a winning Rangers team so blatantly in Scotland....Crazy man.. They just didnt even bother to try and hide it then. Just makes me laught tho...as Tommy Burns said."The good times are never sweeter".
Love big Roy Aitken getting the dodgy decision throw in that lead to the winning goal from wee Joe Miller. No treble for Souness ! Oh how we danced in the streets that day ! Celtic our city ! Our Colours ! Our History ! We are Glasgow Celtic Hail Hail.
I remember us all coming out the ground singing to the tune of Ghostbusters TREBLE BUSTERS,,,,,, they've ruined Hampden by renovating it with no character or atmosphere
Tavy@ i remember this game well in 1989. I was age 15 then, but i seem to remember it wasnt a great game nor a bad game. Becouse this was the era of just go out and win. Dont entertain the crowd, its not about them its about winning and winning brings us money and alot of it. I can remember when the english clubs were bannend from europe for 7 years i thinck. Round about 1987 as a football mad teenager i really just about stopped watching scottish and english football on tv. It was becoming boring. No entertainers. Seemingly if you tried to entertain in the mid to late 1980s you got a sherricking for it. Thats not what attracted thousands of fans to play football as well as watch it. George best, pele, maradona, cruyff, platini, dalglish, wee jinky johnstone and all them had alot to thanck for putting kids out the house to play football. Then it whent to nothing by 1990.
Rangers had some great players by then but still some shite like John Brown he was dreadful. Was a nice trophy for celtic before the darkness of the 90s fuelled by corrupt money over at the shit pit but they got their just deserts with liquidation and death. That Mark Walters shot was going wide.
Scored from a thrown which should have gone to Rangers. Aitken chanced his arm and got away with it. You can tell by Aitken glancing over at the ref fully expecting play to be stopped and the throw taken again by Rangers.
Im a Celtic fan and i couldnt agree more.....about time we got a decision for us in they games then...but you are right here....made it sweeter on the day.cheers

We got a throw-in that day! Scottish football has been trying to punish us ever since 😂😂
One of the first games I remember watching live. I remember the day was extremely warm for May and no-one gave us a chance.
