Cutting board helps keep your knife from going dull also protecting counter from scratches when slicing and dicing. Knives dull quickly on hard surfaces.

Australia isn't that bad. You get used to the bugs, and most of them except flies and mosquitoes will leave you alone if you leave them alone. I'm going to guess you're moving to Melbourne (just a hunch, cause that's where the majority of English move to), if so, there's not much to be worried about. All the really dangerous ones live further north where the climate is a lot less like England.

deer are not always shy...when they smell my aunts holiday dinners they come all around the house staring in our windows and have no fear what soever ..the more concerning thing is if a baby is near the mother..or when the males are in the rutt season...they go from cowardly to agressive and will literally fk you up...charging bucks and front feet stompings and kicks from does...they dont play
My mother would go out in her backyard banging together a pot and pan to chase the deer away. They crapped all over the place, not to mention the risk of ticks. After the second time they would just look at her like she was crazy! lol.

They also have a kind of tarantula called the Colossus Bird Spider ... Because its big enough to eat, you guessed it, birds. Nope, sorry, I don't need to go there.
