    Stunning. I’m always left in awe by how effortlessly JW seems to deliver complex pieces, seemingly error free every time. There are many great players but I don’t think any other quite matches his level of technical accomplishment. Beautiful to listen to and watch.

    Jesus christ...what a master. They really had it good back then. There is virtually no one playing like this nowadays. Primetime modern television has no place for true genuis worthy of such honor and respect. What caliber of performance omg

    Very clean and very beautiful, without excessive rubatos, shifting without any effort, and outstanding overall!

    I've been playing "Torre Bermeja" by Isaac Albéniz for almost 30? years now, but have not yet played it to that level. Close, but not quite there.

    It's not that muddled. Just the sound quality of the recording is not too good. It may be a bit rushed at certain points though.

    I think he plays this piece like a non native speaker who thinks the way to mask his accent is by speaking extremely fast.

  • @erwinskitty
    @erwinskitty Před 5 lety +3

    one of the clumbsiest executions of this piece i've had the displeasure to sit thru. williams grossly inadequate technique is on display for all who have ears, as he stumbles thru and mangles this beautiful composition to the point that it is painful to listen. there is NO flow, no organic musical whole, just a mechanical rendition of disjointed notes, disrupted rhythms, and confused melodies that is SO strained, there is NO hope for the subtle nuances of tone and inflection that a true master would bring. compare to rey de la torre if you want a definitive performance. or search "torre bermeja" on YT and listen to any of dozens of youngsters do it better than this horrid mutilation of Llobet's magnificent transcription of albinez' piano piece.

      Just because someone cannot perform a musical piece well does not mean that the piece cannot be critiqued by that person.
      We've all had meals at restaurants that were not so good, yet very few of those critiques were master chefs themselves.
