Ah yes, the old hand lens in the pocket-never leave home without one! That said as I collect fossils for classes this is something I have noticed as well. Definitely taking some liberties in “color enhancing” the specimens. Without a lens of some type many can be tricky to notice for sure. Nice catch there at Dickey Labs!
See? I knew Eric would understand about these matters. I’ve also noticed the color enhancement - especially on quartz specimens. It makes me wonder if I can truly find natural smoky quartz.
