They don't usually retain so much of their color but in this instance, wow.
I was thinking 5thr color and how intense the metallic like purple is there.
Pretty sure it's the color of the minerals that make up the fossil, noting remains of the original tissue.

Nautilis is the only living Ammonites we have to protect it from going extinct

It is very unusual. But I expect it’s some sort of aragonite mineral. A form of calcite that produces a shiny black finish.
