    This trail running shoe has been 2 years in the making and features lots of new groundbreaking innovations from the inov-8 brand. We've put a good 70 miles into the shoe since our first impressions video on a big mix of terrains and over lots of different distances to make sure that we gave the shoe a thorough testing. We were pretty impressed with the Trailfly Ultra G 300 Max after our initial run in the shoe but check out the review to see if the shoe has lived up to all the hype.

    Hi Loyd, thank for your great review as usual :) Those Trailfly shoes look very interesting, probably one of the best versatile trail shoes now, but I'm a bit skeptical to graphene as material from health and eco perspective. I've heard that "graphene" at some specific conditions behaves as asbestos. There are studies or analysis coming out recently about respirators including graphene that might be pretty dangerous because there is something that can be inhaled, get to the lungs and making problems over a long time like asbestos. and looks this is in line with that what Thomas mentioned below that the midsole is quite pungent. But yes, fortunately, that graphene is in the midsole, not so close to nose :) All the best!

      @Run4Adventure  Před 3 lety

      No worries Peter, glad you enjoyed the review 👍
      I have heard a few things about issues with Graphene but I'm not sure the amount being used in a running shoe can cause problems? I'd like to think Inov-8 would have made sure it's safe before they used it in their shoes 🤔

    Have really enjoyed running in these so far, they seem to get better the further you run, looking forward to running some ultras in them later in the year. Also can't beat the grip on steep downhills.

  • @JS-JackSparra21
    @JS-JackSparra21 Před 2 měsíci

    This is the future speaking. After 360 miles in these, zero wear on the uppers. Midsole showing some small cracks in the soft (green) segment. Lugs are worn down to a couple of mm. Grip was fine on grass, dry packed trail but was defeated by wet rock and moist or greasy tarmac. Limited traction in heavier muddy conditions as well, so not as great an “all-rounder” as touted. Comfort on rocky or gravelly terrain was good, reducing foot fatigue on those terrains. As of June 24, these are now on sale at around £84, so a bargain if you still fancy a pair.

    Thanks for the review Roy. I run 23 km last weekend and I am quite happy in terms of comfort, grip, reactivity, and stability. However, I see that the heel support and the upper tongue are not very successful. Although I had no problems on the route, I do not know what can happen on an ultra.

    Good review as always Loyd ! My concern would be weight that’s way too heavy for a shoe & that’s a UK 9.5 ! Unfortunately some trail shoes are getting heavier Xodus Peregrine Speedgoat ? I think you can still make a good trail shoe under 300gs Evo Speedgoat or La Sportiva S/Lab Pulsar etc!

    • @Run4Adventure
      @Run4Adventure  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks Morgan, glad you enjoyed the review 👍
      I'd always like to see shoes lighter but there's obviously a lot of shoe under your foot and it doesn't feel heavy when you're running in it. I think it really depends what the shoe is designed for, obviously the Pulsar is a super lightweight trail shoe and I definitely wouldn't want to use it for long ultras. Saying that I wouldn't want to use the Trailfly ultra for a quick 10k! 😊

    Going to give these another go, in my original size. Think the 9.5UK was just too big and my feet were in wrong place. Felt comfortable but the blisters don’t lie. Will not leave house with the new ones until I’m 100%. They are most certainly different size / shape to the 9.5 g270’s as ran 26 miles yesterday, no issues at all. About 300 miles in them now without any problems. Someone on eBay is going to get a very low mileage pair of UK 9.5’s in a week or so :) Looking forward to the updates Loyd, happy running and cheers for the review

    Good review Loyd. Interesting proposition but pricey. At the moment, I alternate between SpeedGoat 4s and Peregine 10s. I find the SGs can be a little clumpy when I'm tired and I've tumbled a couple of times in them. Yesterday I took the Peregrine 10s for 8 x repeats of Butser Hill and found after 3hr10, my feet were a little sore but ok.

    Part of me is disappointed that they chose to go this direction. Their outsoles have been great for years, especially the x-talons and mudclaws, but their weak spot has never been the outsole or midsole, but rather the uppers. As a result, the choice to develop the midsole confuses me somewhat. If they were going to stick graphene in something, I'd rather they had focussed on developing an upper worthy of their bomber soles, that can survive the fells for a decent period.

      Hi Mitch
      It's quite hard to answer that because I've never run the Pikes Peak Marathon? I'd love to though, looks like an incredible race! It's on my bucket list, so I'll definitely run it one day 🏃‍♂️😊
      I'd say if you think the Terraultra G270 would work for the Marathon then I'm sure the Trailfly ultra would probably be ok for the race 🤔
      I've just worn the Trailfly ultra for a coastal ultra Marathon here in the uk and it handle the route really well.

    Hi Lloyd, quick question if ok. How would you compare the ride of these against The North Face Invectiv Infinite? I have the trail fly and like them but did a 60k the other week and towards the end they felt heavy. Trying to find a lighter cushioned shoe. Hokas don’t work for me so wondered if the Infinite could be the answer? Thank you

    • @Run4Adventure
      @Run4Adventure  Před 3 lety +1

      The Trailfly ultra is a bit hefty but I think it runs lighter than it is 👍
      It's tricky if you feel Hokas don't work? The Vectiv Infinite is a really nice shoe but it's not going to give you the depth of cushioning the Trailfly ultras gave you. I'm just about to get the Topo Athletic MTN Racer 2. That's a deep midsoled, cushioned shoe with a Vibram Megagrip outsole, it might be worth a look 🤔

    These shoes have arrived now but the toe box feels very stiff, making the shoe feel shorter in length even though I am sure there is a thumb width between my toe and the front of the shoe. Does the toe box become more supple after a few runs and does the shoe then feel normal in length? I am not sure if I should return them or just wear them until the toe box feels more comfortable.

    The sole on the G300 shoe is excellent, over 300 miles ran and lugs at heel are now worn down, as a comparison was running in Hoka Tecton X and heel was worn down after 100 miles. My dislike of the G300 is the lousy tongue, it’s far to thin and lacing hurts foot when running, on many occasions I’ve had to stop running to loosen them. So would not purchase these again.
