Belt weaving is cool until you upgrade planner your base it suddenly turns into sushi (speaking from experience)
I for my part just never use that feature and am A OK :)
That's why I don't use it, I need my designs to be forget-proof lmao, it's why I started doing things like switching train station inserters to filters etc

I love belt-weaving. Belt-weaving is so much fun. When I first realized I could do that I was so excited.
I really like the options belt weaving gives you, but I always hate myself for having used it when the time comes to use upgrade planner on my belts

I use it for my steel production lines to only output steel from the shared coal/steel output belts I use to supply the steel side.
This was also what you did to split belts before they added the filter to splitters - I had 500+ hours in early access when an update added the splitters. It was also slightly controversial in the community because it changed how people were designing with belts up to that point.
I still use the single underground lane split trick sometimes for no reason other than muscle memory.

Although these videos are a bit meme-y, genuinely thank you for 0:26. I've always used 2 undergrounds to do that sort of thing, but had I know I only need one I could have saved so much headache.

The two places I usually use this is when in early game hard mods splitters are just too expensive, or when I already need to redirect a belt 90 degrees while at the same time only grabbing one side.
I usually use 2 anyway, since they're made in pairs. I hate having an odd number in my inventory, it makes me paranoid that something is broken.
oh, that underground belt weaving is something i used in my latest factory! sure, i could've just move the whole furnace array up, but my mind didn't wanna do that. I made spaghetti, and left the scene of the war crime I had just committed. Great video!
Thank you for doing these short hints and tips and basic mechanics videos. I've always gotten stuck on oil (fluid handling in general really, especially when distances are so big I NEED to involve trains...) so I've been slowly building my confidence in my pre-oil game. Hopefully I'll get to where I can just slap down a basic starter base with some idea of what I actually want to grow into and devote all that brain power to figuring out wtf I do with oil someday soon, and I've added quite a few of your tips into that progress.

0:22 Just don't use this to split off of a main bus. It will absolutely annihilate your bus throughput and per belt balancing won't help.

It's fine doing it that way after a splitter, but I see what you mean. All splits off the main bus must be splitters so when the splits are backed up you get 100% throughput to the rest of the line.

Fyi, in Greek the letter "γ" is closer in sound to the English "y" letter (for example in how you pronounce the word "yell") than the "g" letter. The only exception is when "γ" is next to certain letters (specifically "γκ", "γγ") then it sounds very similar to "g".

Theres a mod somewhere out there that adds different belt lengths. medium and long, that dont interact with each other. you can make some pretty impressive overlapping bus highways with fast belts and even balance (or priority change) them between both segments for some pretty crazy throughput and space management. But again, its modded

Belt-weaving is something I never use because it felt exploity and breaks immersion. Like are the belts just teleporting through each other or some nonsense? Are the entrance/exit locations merely a simulation and not actually tunneling through the ground?? Is the whole thing a meaningless series of moving pixels??? Could all of this be just a video game????
vanilla factorio has a lot of dumb stuff that doesn't make sense
and no, unlike underground pipe which literally teleports liquids since distance between those doesn't exist, underground belts preserve distance and this is quite the way for game to tell different ones apart, this exists I think since forever, so most likely devs consider it as legit feature
