Now if we could get JD to stop holding its farmers hostage, they would be a fantastic company....which is why so many of them left for Case IH and FENDT. You shouldn’t be forced to actually hack your own tractor just to get it running because JD wants to steal thousands upon thousands of dollars for ‘software updates’.

Hey Brother, I have watched your video of years. I use to be the one that said if I ever win the lottery I would hire you to shop for equipements. Well. I still have not won the lottery, still just looking at videos. I was wondering something. You always hear someone say this VT or that VT is the best. I suspect you have seen more of them than anyone. So if you thought for the best VT

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  Před 2 měsíci

Thank you for watching. If you win I would be honored to help you pick out a line up.
The best VT. That is a good question. In my observation they all make a good seed bed.
      Things that I like:
The Great Plains Turbo Till is the original VT. The newest generation lets you run from 0-50 degrees from just slighting working the ground to almost disking it.
The Kuhn Kruse interceptor with center times for pinning residue does a top notch job. I have one featured in a video on the John Deere 8970 4wd.
In the area of Kentucky I live in Landoll and Case IH dominate the market.
The John Deere 2660VT is built heavy duty and does allot of actions. It’s impressive.
I would also note the Salford Independent. It’s built like a field cultivator with each VT blade mounted independently. For working in wet soil it’s really good.
I would say I have not seen a bad VT. They all have advantages. I would recommend trying them out to see what works in your soil.

Caden Carlson maybe you should talk to the millennial farmer cause has an 8330 on 27 ft Mandeko an can’t pull it over 7 mph . If you have heavy black dirt and put that thing in the ground it won’t hardly pull it much less up to speed . We have a case ih 380 and pull a 55 ft field cultivator but with compaction in the fall no way . Larson farms are only going to pull 28 ft salford with a 600 quad trac

Corn stalks will plug up a plow with ease. Also cutting up the stalks into smaller pieces helps decomposition. Corn stalks are engineered to stand strong all season against pests, fungus and wind. After the harvest the stalk can remain two years or more unbroken in the field.
As far as plugging a plow. Picture pulling a rake across leaves. The rake bunches the leaves until it can’t pull any more. This is what a plow can do in corn stalks quickly. Watch this video I filmed on mowing stalks at the 6:30 minute mark. You will see how fast a plow plugs and the fun of digging it out at czcams.com/video/n0Ut_uOmwho/video.html

The 8RX can run faster with the 2660VT. There are a couple FS factors here.
      1. This was a field demonstration for the 8RX to potential customers. Every two passes a new person was driving the tractor and getting the feel for it.
      2. This was the short corn of a big field where several drain cuts ran too so it was bumpy and uneven every so many feet.
      3. They were running faster in the wide open. The priority of the day for filming in a limited sun light situation was filming the 8960 and four other big tractors plowing in this field. By the time I got to the 8RX the sun was setting fast and the field was almost done.

@@bigtractorpower The Deere bulges to 443hp while the Fendt has no bulge. The Fendts also derate horsepower in hot, heavy draft applications. The highway truck engine in the Fendt is not as impressive in reality as it is on paper. The Fendt transmission also falls on its face when the implement hits the dirt, big time bog down while the Deere won’t skip a beat. Very important to pull heavy loads with these machines to actually see what goes on.
