  • Here's a delightful clip by Ohio's world-famous and legendary Mills Brothers from an old betamax tape I found in my garage. The Brothers are joined by a then-famous television talk show host to sing one of their biggest hits and offer an up-temp version of Bye Bye Black Bird and Hold That Tiger...they even add their own voices as musical instruments! The brothers are in their usually wonderful harmonic form. By this time (the mid-1970's), brother Harry (far right) was nearly blind with diabetes side effects. The group recorded almost constantly since their debut in the late 1920's and toured from the 1970's on with other artists like Gisele MacKenzie, Kay Starr, Patti Page, Frankie Laine, etc.

Host Merv Griffin also created such game show favorites as 'Wheel of Fortune.' I love the Mills Brothers, and also admire and remember the talk shows hosted by Griffin.

Huh, never seen people just being people on tv. Talking and not everything having to have a punchline or to further someone's ego.
