With tip 1 you say bring your weight over the center of the skates, but do you keep it there during the corners or do you bring it more to the back? Because I thought your skates would steer better when you are more on your back wheels when you are on a 200m track?
I always try to keep my weight in the middle of my skates and push there as well. If you can find a constant balance you will be able to manipulate your skates easily (turn them), but often times if that skill set isn't strong enough your weight will rock forward and back in your skates and it can feel like they simply won't turn and/or that you're not in control, in which case people tend to sit on their heels. This is probably because focusing on putting the weight on just the heel prevents that rocking motion, but puts stress on some wheels more than others as you skate. My thought process for targeting the middle of the skate is that distributing your weight evenly over all the wheels will both help you roll and grip better vs loading so heavily on just 1 or 2 wheels if you can manage to engage your core and control your body enough to find that balance.
@@JoeyMantiaOfficial thank you for the great and clear respons. The reason is not instability but coaches with an ice skating background who always shout keep your weight on the back.
Try to keep it in the middle, my next tutorial addresses this exact topic
John can u give a tutorial on quad skates for double push
Sorry not John it's joey

@@jessidew95 Cameraman is on a bike .
@@jessidew95 they use a gimble
Anyone gonna talk about the cameraman following him, probably learning to skate properly, while he carries the camera and films Joey at the same time?
Think you will find the cameraman is on a roadbike.
Wow unlike a lot of beginner skate videos this was extremely helpful. I'll be watching this a few more times.
Very interesting and informative
57 years old. Haven’t been on inline skates in 20+ years. Bought a pair to get some much needed exercise. Grew up on hockey skates but never really got proficient on inlines. This video made SO MUCH SENSE and helped me to visualize how to inline skate better. Will be checking out your other videos as I get my skating-legs back in action. Thanks!!!
Still skating, Jim? 62 here and just getting back into skating, hoping to get legs in shape for ski season. Pulled out old skates and got new wheels and bearings and it's just like riding a bicycle, you never forget. Did not forget the feeling when I ended up on my butt the second day, either.
It feels too hard
We have been conditioned to be weaken by fear. Get out there and have fun.

great explanations! And also showing the wrongs way...very confronting
lmaoo
Yeah,good job showing us!!!
Dude, you LEGS are INSANE. That's hard work to get them looking like that.
I wonder if he workout legs at the gym or just skate...
Thanks for these useful tips!
My son is a junior inline skater. We're your big fans.
He watches all your videos that inspired him to do more skills and physical training.
He's so glad to watch this new video. It's very helpful, thanks a lot!!
Many thanks for taking the time to make this video, Joey. Really helpful!!
What an amazing and informative video you did! You are the first person I see saying clearly that the goal is to have a lateral push. That's what I could see the pros doing differently, but I couldn't quite understand what were they doing to be moving like that. Thanks for the whole video! It's all great tips!
Your a hero for doing these videos. I love skating so much and your videos really help. Sometimes i feel so lost with technique but after refer back your videos and am finding great improvement.
Anyone see this video because tomorrow is your skating competition
I am bro
Thank you Joey for your excellent tips! They helped me to improve instantly so much.
This is a wonderful video! Thanks so much for the tips. I’m looking forward to improving my skating skills😁
Simply brilliant! Learned how to skate but also how to teach! Thank you.
This has been a great series -thank you. Having you demonstrate correct and incorrect is particularly useful.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experience with us.
Great tips, thanks! Really impressed with your skating and the way you teach.
Joey your vids have def improved my skating technique thanks man!
Thanks Joy, this video makes me knowing in detail and you just taught me 'HOW to practice' in this video. Epic!
Excellent, very helpful tips. Thank you Joey.
Excellent tutorial. We'll be making use of it this month during an event. Thank you for the tips.
This is very useful on every level of skater, I've been skating for few years and there's still so much more technique that i'm still lacking from this video👍👍👍
Great video! Thanks for perpetuating the skating community Joey!
Outstanding articulation. Great teaching👍🏻
Explanation was very well given. Thanks so much! It is clear!
very efficient tips, thanks joey
Thank you - this is SUPER helpful. I've been getting some hip pain while working my stride and now I have some things to work on (particularly your tip #1 and #2 about bellybutton/weight distribution) that I think might solve the problem.
This was a very thorough yet concise video. Oftentimes, the skating videos are more of the author showing off or performing moves a beginner is incapable of. Your repeated demonstrations in real time and slow motion were excellent. Good job.
I think I've watched this video for the 15th time now, always something new to pick up from it to focus on on my next skate, thanks!
Thanks for the tips
Thanks for the best tips that actualy works.#you are my favourite CZcamsr
Great video and instruction. I need to watch this several more times, including go out try, and then see video again. Super, thank you Joey.
Super speed and I like it
Well presented and super useful, thanks !
Great video. Thanks for your tips!
your tips are better than other youtubers, thank you
very helpful tips thank you
Very educational, thank you so much
Am interested in starting rollerblading, this video is extremely helpful, thank you !
perfect tips ty!
im a 34 years old newbie and your video do helped alot, thanks for great explanation.
This is exactly the tutorial I've been looking for. It's a bit hard to judge whether the bellybutton is in the right place, but other tips are just great! Thank you so much Joey.
Definitely helped me today I can feel it in the core and you explain it well not being perfect but the motion thanks man peace out
This is so brilliant! I love this. Thank you so much. I've been skating since I was little for fun and didn't know how to explain it to my friends. This makes so much sense!
Glad I could help!
it's really weird seeing Joey Mantia trying to skate like a fitness skater. The tips are great, though!
I enjoyed seeing him skate like a fitness skater. I bet it is fast.
Thanks for perfect explanations💪✌️🙋
Thanks for the tips!
Perfect exercises to focus on at nu first training on ice. Thanks again meastro!!
Great tips, clearly explained 👍🏻
Man, thank you so much. Been skating for a year and just taking one session keeping these things in mind has greatly improved my skating. Its improved my speed and endurance a lot, but I didn't expect it to also help with balance and concentrating weight between legs. I'm finally able to start using my heel brake and t-stop. They still need a lot of work, but I just didn't have the balance to even start them before. Your tips about coming down softly with the other skate and about pushing to the side particularly helped with the balance issue.
Glad you found it useful! If you are focusing on balance, you're going to enjoy the next tutorial coming tonight or tomorrow
@@JoeyMantiaOfficial hey man good to finally see your videos I just subscribed. Skating has been the biggest thing in my life ever since I was three years old. I am fourteen now and I have been on a couple teams, it is just amazing to see my favorite skater ever give me tips and help me improve
These helped me a lot with hockey, thank you
Thank you very much.
I watch your video and see how much I have to learn.
Greetings from the Basque Country
This was super helpful after skating for a couple of months!
Very good explanations both actual correct and incorrect positioning I watched again and again. I'm new in inline skate I will practice same way how you did.
Very good tips. Not all of them are easy to figure it out, and I think that every single one is important and useful 🙌🏼
It’s useful for me,thank you very much.
Very informative. Thank you
Amazing. I Loved.
Amazing thank you for this amazing video it was very helpful for even a beginner like myself 🙏🏽
I did enjoy this video great explanation!!! and I did like and subscribed
These tricks are superb
hai sir my name is bhaskar and I am from india and actually am 46 years old and it was my dream to become skater in my teen age but due to my financial crisis i couldnot even afford skates and now at this age i am back to fulfill my dream and now i have purchased both roller and liner and now already i am practising roller skates your suggestions needed
Top tier vid ty
Also, this was really helpful. Thank you!
Muchas gracias 🌿🙏🏽🤍
I was wondering why I felt off while skating after it had been YEARS since I skated. Watching this made me realize I had been doing wrong to begin with lol
Thank you for this great further episode. Your bad "examples" are also very good for a normal Skater, that I must look two times to understand the mistake😁
I will try to get better 👌👍
haha! as mentioned, it's often hard to see the mistakes because the difference between a good body position and bad one is sometimes very small. The point here is to think about employing the tips to help get you better. glad it helped
@@JoeyMantiaOfficial
Yes, your douple push episode helped a lot in special the part with the "constant" compression was very important for me to understand. Before, I tryed more to double push, now it looks much better, smoother😁
this was insanely helpful
I’m going to use these tips 🙏🏾💯
Thanks for the tips now I can roller blade better.you're so awesome😁😁😁🔥🔥🔥
I’m not sure about the mechanics behind it, but tip 4 combined with arm swings naturally made me transition onto the outside edges of my recovering foot. On the right track, I hope? All great tips, thanks for the video!
Thanks Joey 😂👍
For explaining the black magic between making an effort and actually " going faster " 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you Joey for building confidence in us as beginners to use the right techniques . Hearty congrats for being two time world champion. So proud of you. Love from all skaters in Dubai.
Ya, skater from UAE.....
But are you indian?
Great Content for skaters .
This is a great tutorial!!!
wow amazing tips
This video really helped me get skate. After fixing my form with steps 1 and 2, something just "clicked" in my head and I was able to skate with full strokes. Thank you so much!
Thanks to this Vid I can properly learn the Basics Correctly.
Thank you ❤️
Thanks for the tips. My comments are 1. For city skating, put weight on heals are much safer since you never know where the cracks are, and 2 pushing to the sides depending on speed since I can not possibly skate up big hill by pushing to the side.
You definitely have to push back more than normal to go up hills and yes, when there are cracks, heals is much safer
This video is about improving speed on flat ground, which you won't be working on when you are dealing with cracks and hills, and that's fine. You're right about tips for cracks and hills.
wow this is what i was looking for thanks
Thank you so much. My cousin's been teaching me how to skate, but your tips are really helpful, gonna apply them next time I go skating.
Love From UAE♥
The last tip and first tip are the only ones that made sense to me as a self taught person lol. I hope i'm doing ti correctly!.
Thank you so much
the last one is the one i really have to remind myself of. this year i really wanted to focus on my form and just by working on it was able to skate an extra 1-2 mph. im far from perfect but always remind myself of the basic tips!
As I am a beginner someone should observe and tell me , but joey I am thinking of your videos & acting like that while skating and feeling that I am doing like a world champion , priceless .Thank you . I also shared your videos on Dxbskaters (Dubai Skaters group ).
Awesome tips, thanks! I’d love to hear your tips on getting a quick sprint start.
Hi
nice tips bro. good job
Thank you master❤️
Thanks! Very good.
Very useful 👍
Good tips
This is the truth right here. Great video, sir! I’ve skated for years played roller yada yada but these simple tips were invaluable even as an experienced skater. It helped me find rationale in why it works when you see it done “right” and when you see it done “almost right” 😂. Damn right I hit that subscribe button
good. Thank you
Thank you
Just two words: grazie mille!! (Thank you very much!)
I just ordered my first pair of K2 FIT 84 BOA and this video is so helpful since I'm just a beginner. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
I was thinking I was leaning too far forward but I think I might actually have the right form, that’s good to know. Thanks for posting this video!!
Thank a lot I Will practized
