How to Make a Surfboard Template | Inkscape

- While working on my most recent surfboard, it occurred to me that I should make a video and show you guys how to trace out a surfboard template using the computer. Super easy and it's not limited to just surfboards, you can apply this technique to other things you want to outline or trace.
The software I used:
Inkscape: inkscape.org/ (Open source)

If you dont scale it proportionally then you wont get the shape that you traced and may aswell just draw one by eye at the beginning. Right?
The issue is you are working from a picture so if a given surfboard has listed dimensions, even if you scale proportionally it can be off because of the parallax of the camera/lense. Sometimes it works out sometimes it doesn't, not a exact science LOL. Best thing to do it just play around and see what works for you. Good comment tho, thanks.

Awesome, good luck on the build! Small suggestion use white pine and cedar if you can't find paulownia wood, the SPF wood I used can be very dense, depending on what you find at the building supply.

I often struggle to get nodes to connect in inkscape, but maybe I am missing something or need a newer version.
I am looking forward to hearing how you found the durafoam was to shape. I poked some sheets at Home Depot last I was there, and the 3" seemed firmer than the others, even though they all have the same 15 psi rating.

Did you tape the paper down and then cut while cutting the paper at the same time? Or first cut out the outline on the papers and then cut around the paper outline?
