I did the teacher training over Christmas break and I was blown away. I wish I had been taught how to write using structure and style. I can’t wait to start it next year.
Yes it’s an incredible program. Can’t wait to hear what you think.
I did learn something new! I didn’t know about the IEW app. I am preparing to use IEW again with my younger children after a 9 year hiatus. I’m excited about it.
Thats wonderful!
Oh wow, I've been using IEW for 2 years now, and I still learned new things from this video. Awesome video
I’m so glad to hear that!
I didn't know they had a podcast!
Thanks for sharing! Learned a lot!
Happy to share
I had no idea how amazing the app is!
Yeah I love it!
This is all knew. We are try IEW for the first time this year.❤
I hope this helped
I think I'm going to steal your family picture display set up, it is SO cute!
Steal away ❤️
Thank you! 😊
You’re welcome
I had no idea they offered things for kids younger than 3rd grade, had an app or offered a 100% money back guarantee. This was helpful. I have been looking into IEW for our child going into 3rd next year, but what I mostly only hear about Fix It Grammar and Writing and Style (I think that's what it's called?). I went to their website once and felt overwhelmed. Haha
I am glad this helped. Let me know if you have any other questions that I can help you with.
I just purchased Structure and Style B1 for this coming school year. So do I need to purchase the teacher training course as well? I’ll definitely be downloading the app! Thanks! 🤗👏🏻
No but you will want to watch the dvd lessons from SSB with your kids
I am your friend in real life and I didn’t know half of these tips 😂
Haha 😂 well I’m glad I could share them.
I am going to download that app.
Yay! Hope you enjoy it
Hi again 😊 always love your videos - short , succinct but meaty with great information.
I am debating switching completely to IEW next year for Grade 5 with my son who greatly struggles with writing.
We are using a mix of MB’s LLFLE , Fix It Grammar and All Things Fun and Fascinating
Grammar - no problem. Spelling and writing - big problem .
I pull the ATFF book out and he cries 🥴unfortunately, I haven’t found any curriculums out there that teach reluctant writers who struggle with output “how” to write .
I can’t decide if I should
A) only use LLFLE/ love the gentle approach and it doesn’t cause my son tears BUT doesn’t really have a great way of teaching “how” to write
B) stop LLFLE and slog through ATFF
C) switch to Adventures in Writing or Discoveries in Writing as I have heard these are more user friendly ?
Thoughts? I’m at a loss of what to do. He hates anything to do with writing - the physical act and generating ideas. This year is just a lot of me modelling how to do it while asking him lots of open ended questions .
Looking for any suggestions on how to make this particular subject less of a struggle in our homeschool .
And yes 😊I am working through the course Teaching Structure and Style as well 👍🏻
Have you considered just switching to having him watch and the Structure and Style instead of ATFF?
@@LifeintheMundaneI have. we tried a sample lesson and he hated it :( wants me to teach him.
@@ewalanger5415 okay I figured you probably had but wanted to double check. Personally I would probably just hold off on formal writing then for a period of time and try again in a year or so.
@@ewalanger5415 here are some ideas of what you could do instead of a formal writing curriculum czcams.com/video/93Ip_o-kvZk/video.htmlsi=Y4_1goBlZw_DeRAR
Definitely want to know more about homeschooling special needs with this curriculum. I have an 11 year old son who is twice exceptional. He has dysgraphia, ASD, ADHD and gifted. Could you do a video on that or is there one on CZcams with Andrew to Pudewa talking about this?
Actually IEW is hosting a free online webinar on March 20th all about how to use IEW with special learners. I really think it might help In this situation. If you would like to attend simply follow this link and register for the free event. iew.com/LifeintheMundane
Would iew be a stand alone subject or would it need to be paired with additional resources. We have been using tgtb so far for the younger grades, but I really like the way iew is set up.
So iew is the company and they have multiple components so their is a writing curriculum, a spelling, a grammar, and a literature course. You can use them all together to make a comprehensive language arts or you can mix and match with other curriculums
I totally missed this video!!! I am very interested in trying the Structure and Style but don’t know if it will work for my son. He struggles with spelling and reading, what are your thoughts Katie?
So my plan is to use assistive technology. I plan to have him type or use voice to text features and we may use the free version of grammarly as well to help. I plan to go through the program as slow as we need. I just need him to have more exposure to writing.
@@LifeintheMundane we have Grammarly since my hubby is working in his Bachelor’s. How are you using the assistance technology? I haven’t used it before and like you I need him also to work on his writing.
@@nancyhansen7103 honestly I am figuring out as I go. I will let you know as soon as I have a solid plan in place.
The writing didn’t work for us but I don’t mind checking out other products!!! I didn’t know they have an app!!!
Yes, they have lots to offer. And it’s okay if it’s not a good fit, I don’t think there is any curriculum out there that is perfect for everyone.
