"What might be ridiculously overpowered in another universe, is the bare minimum to survive in 40k" Is the best way to sum up 40k in one sentence. Awesome video
It’s crazy that this is so accurate
Marvel universe well known for being a tough verse….If Captain America can Survive then his superior Spare marines would *THRIVE* while in 40k Space Marines can sometimes be cannon Fodder while in Marvel Just 1 Marine can change a battle

"A Bolter designed for an Astartes is large, with most humans being unable to even lift one without a supporting brace, and even if they could fire one, the recoil would most likely rip their arm out of its socket." This is, by far, the most Warhammer 40k line I've ever listened from TES.
Unless of course you are a space Australian, erm, i mean, from Catachan, in which case you can use one thanks to your massive muscles.
@@thewerdnathey use specific variants of the bolter, these variants are of course weaker than their Astartes counterparts but they're good enough for the Sisters to use as well.
@beanboy5293 actually they are known to sometimes even use the versions Astartes use. Though they have to still use both hands and wield it more like its a minigun.
@@thewerdna true that
@@thewerdna Okay now first of all, Catachans are one of the humans that are naturally large because of the nature of their planet, even the shortiest guy on their planet is probably 6 ft, they range around 6ft to 7.5ft tall, while an Ogryn, a sub-human which is taller than even the Astartes themselves, are 9ft tall. And because of the nature of their harsh planet, those 6.5ft-7.5ft tall is filled to the brim with mass, muscles and bones, nobody is lanky or fat because those “weak genes” wouldn’t have make it for a day on their planet when their neighbours are the equivalent of a Tyranid liveform, survival of the fittest cranked up. Secondly, like the guy said, their version of Bolters are modified specifically for their use, like how an Inquisitor would use a modified verion of a pistol-Bolter for their own use.
The question is not what guns, it's how many guns. And the answer is MORE.

When you realize the Great Angel, in one day, not only destroyed a Titan by himself, ON FOOT, killed a near fully powered Champion of Khorne named Ka’Banda, then fought and banished the Daemon Primarch Red Angel aka Angron, but then went to battle Horus. All this after months of fighting the Death Guard, Luna Wolves, World Eaters, daemons, etc.
Sanguinius is kind of on another level
And then Horus said "lol. Lmao." and ganked him
His gift of foresight is something I think you can give a lot of credit to. The man could see into the future enough to avoid death in combat, but he always saw his death by Horus
@@Sigilstone17Horus fueled by all 4 of the Chaos gods. Think you forgot that part.
@@chiroh145 Horus bring weakened by the Ruinous Powers was how Sanguinius lasted so long
@@Sigilstone17 Horus was weakened by the Chaos gods? Yet was dying to a planetary governor corrupted by a single god, Nurgle. Powerful enough to damage the god-emperor but not enough to kill one governor without a mortal wounding.

I love Skitarii to bits! The design of the Skitarii Ranger is what led to be an admech player.
The contrast of Religious robes, Mechanical augments and classic wooden engraved rifles is just such a cool aesthetic.
I'm on my first ever playthrough of Mechanicus and I have to agree. I love them and their dynamic with the Necrons, it's a lot of fun.
I'm gonna be kitbashing Skitarii bits into my Guard and playing Vanguard soon, they look so damn cool and the Arquebus is dummy stronk 😭
Man I can't wait for another dude to tell me all about the lore and setting I already know!
No, seriously. Keep doing it, please.
yup :D
one weapon that wasn't mentioned, the "retcon" gun, its a real thing in lore. Basically its a weapon that was invented during the dark age of technology currently wielded by the imperium that essentially "erases" someone from existence, hence its name. However, it doesnt just erase your physical body,it also erases your soul, your memories, hell even other peoples memories of you will be erased, its only been used a handful of times but yeah its a weapon thats absolutey terrifying and useful for GW.
sounds like Balefire from Wheel of Time but slightly more convenient, as overuse of Balefire would distort the world as it tried to reshape itself around a missing person or object.
@@xXx_Regulus_xXx yeah i feel like GW added this thing as a convenient weapon to essentially remove things they dont want, but since they seldom its usage i think they realized that its kinda OP even by 40k standards, hence why its only mentioned a handful of times
Lmao, have you heard of Adrathic weaponry
@@beanboy5293 this weapon is actually worse, as adrathic weapons function similarly to necron gauss weaponry, it just erases your molecular structure. However the retcon gun straight up erases an existence and the memories, imagine shooting something and forgetting that it even existed as you shot it.
@@viscera9579 sounds fucked, if you find the source please hit me up, would love to read
I’m surprised that you didn’t mention the baneblade. Gigantic tank with lots of guns and annihilates most things on the battlefield.
Ahhh you speak of the scout tank yes? Jokes aside absolutely badass super heavy tank.
I think there used to be absolutely absurdly huge Titans, too, at least dozens of _kilometers_ tall. That may have changed since I last read about them though
But like that’s not a weapon, that’s a vehicle.
@@crpineo The biggest Titans cap out at a couple hundred meters, but they're bulkier than all Hell.
@@Sluggadome_Rotunda_Bernardson It's a weapons system, just like any fighting vehicle.
Quite frankly, a 10,000 ton battle Titan can do a considerable amount of damage just by walking around.
Brother, get the flamer. The *_HEAVY_* flamer.
"List of khornate massacres. This list is incomplete: YoU cAn hElP by exPaNdiNg iT!"
Dude I could not be more thrilled that you are diving into the WH40K universe! As the creator of content that exclusively pulled me head first into the SCP world, I can already say that with the few 40K videos you do have, you are doing it a great service and as always, your commentary is spot on!
Thank you.
Do one for the Eldar armaments too, they have some pretty interesting concepts.
Yeah, even their basic small arms are terrifying.
Shuriken guns shoot you up with thousands of monoatomic razorblades.
Actual xenos conversation, upon seeing an Imperator Titan:
"The church is getting closer."
"You mean we're getting closer to the church?"
"Um... no."
The world of 40K is so creative and fun and whimsical; it's like stepping straight into a death metal album cover.
The lore kicks I've gone on over the years have also made me appreciate how surprisingly scientifically literate its creators are-Not only did they give some imaginative thought to the operating principles of the weapons (though they're wise enough to also handwave away most of the engineering obstacles, which itself can ironically be more realistic than assuming people in the future won't know anything we don't), it's one of the few popular SF settings that genuinely takes into account the staggering size of a galaxy like the Milky Way, and the quite literally astronomical numbers that spreading through it would invoke.
To be a man in such a universe like 40K is to be one among untold billions
A couple corrections about bolters. While the bullets are rocket propelled, I would rate them more like an AA12 shotgun firing grenade rounds. Yes, they exist, but unfortunately since the government didn't buy them in large numbers I don't think much of the grenade ammo was made. Also bolt rounds don't explode on impact they actually have a sensor in them so they explode inside the target. They're called mass reactive rounds. It's why they needed to make new ammo when the horus heresy broke out. Standard bolts couldn't penetrate power armor unless they hit specific weak spots, armor penetrating mass reactive bolts became astartes killers and was a big reason Horus had a massive advantage in early fights.
So just a few things, the guard do have aircraft. If you read double eagle the main protagonists, members of the phantine air Corps, in that novel are part of a regiment that runs exclusively atmospheric aircraft. As well the guard do use solid round ammunition weapons, as in the Gaunt's ghost's series. To be honest though this has such good beginner and some intermediate knowledge that those things are minor nitpicking at the worst. At best they are just fun little tidbits for everyone if they didn't know.
Yep..made for an interesting conversation in Double Eagle when the Navy Admiral thought he was going to dress down and ground Halo flight. Lmao!! Took a drunk priest of St. Sabbat to inform him otherwise. I love that part!
*OH BOY! IT’S 3AM!! PRAISE THE IMPERIUM!!!*
This was a really nice run down that I don't think any of other channels have provided. Thank you very much for doing this. EDIT: The emperor protects!
I believe Luetin has, but with individual weapons getting their own hour long video.
Luetin has 3 or 4 most insane weapons of 40k videos
@@Zargabaath i'll give it a look.
It wouldn't be a 40k gun video without mentioning the Bolter. To paraphrase Lord Mandalore, it basically fires .75 caliber exploding bricks that were blessed in a church. The Chaos Bolter is arguably similar, except the bricks were blessed at a Marilyn Manson concert.
The legend has honored us with such a glorious video
you are amazing for citing the artists. much respect
love the 40k
"And that's... why it's awesome"
I have been wanting this video for so long... you do such great work in everything it honestly amazing. This video really covered most of the basics in an efficient and understandable way, especially since 40k lore is about as insane and hard to fully grasp as the setting itself. 40k is my personal all time favorite setting and I love deep diving into the lore.
Anyway to make my contribution with one of my favorite facts on 40k titans; during the Siege of Terra, the imperium was afraid of fielding more Titan Legios not because they might lose them or were worried about the literal incarnations of hell overtaking the planet, no. They were worried that deploying more than a few titans could BREAK THE CONTINENT THEY WERE FIGHTING ON, AND THEN THE PLANET ITSELF. And to put that into a bit more perspective, titan scale weapons are basically the equivalent of a modern AA gun compared to most of the weapons the Imperial Navy uses such as the nova cannon.
"And THAT'S why it's awesome!" - Good finishing line ;D, because.
Always happy for 40k lore in the morning!
I am proud to say I'm finally playing WH40K for the first time this Friday. Excited as hell that I can finally see these weapons in-game
Listening to you come back to some 40k lore is amazing! All your content is absolutely top tier!
Would you be willing to make a psyker video at some point? Not just explaining what they are but how various factions make use of them and how to counter them, like blanks. I’m still new to this universe, so stuff like that still confuses me.
Hey man. Just wanna say that I'm absolutely loving your content... I also can't wait for your 1 mil subscriber mark! Loving your work! Keep it up! You have our support all the way
Thanks for the great upload! I really love your 40k videos.
Just finished all other 18 videos yesterday and was blessed with more
From the mightiest warships to earth shattering Titans, the weapons of this dying Imperium are the tools of industry from an even greater empire that suffered an even greater fall.
I absolutely love the new Warhammer centric content but, it would be very nice to have matching visuals showing each weapon. Something as simple as a picture of a Tempestus Scion would really add to the video, especially for people new to Warhammer 40k.
I'm so glad you're doing these. I haven't and probably never will play the 40k tabletop, but I've played a few of the videogames and love every single bit of the lore.
I read Horus Rising (and Mechanicum? I think? The cover is very familiar) a very, very long time ago, before I could even recognize the significance of it. I'm going to have to read the whole series sometime.
The many, the proud, the expendable; the Imperial Guard!
There's something about the way that TES talks about 40k the utterly captivates me more than any other channel could. I hope to see more 40k vids from him.
Nice that you gave the Admech some love in this video too!

glad to see more 40K, I'm a latecomer to the series so most of this is genuine new info to me other than the stuff I've inferred from the memes my friends show me

I hope you do a video on the Imperial Navy some time in the future. Loved this video too.
Hope to see a video on Ork weapons.
My favourite is the one that teleport snotlings into its target
Great stuff. Cheers. 😎
Just a clarification, Space Marines do not regard the Emperor as a deity, with a few exceptions.
That's what you get with an 'AI' script ripped off lore books.
The amount of people you have helped find sleep must have a better impact than any pharma. Thanks homie
Would kill to see you cover none primarch characters in 40k.

Grey Knights and Inquisitors have my favorite weapons: nemesis force weapons. Lightsabers that cut with your mind.

in the 4 novel series "The Norseman Saga" Caelan Erikson wields the Hell-Forged Spear & Glacius Axe & Trinity Shield while trying to procure Divine/Unholy weapons before The Fallen can tip the scales to Darkness
Me & my Best-o-Friend-o Nate-O have spent nigh-decade & we are yet to finish refining the dialog & we'd like to hire an artist for our unusual format & may use multiple variations. We'd have an artist draw some of the most pertinent characters or events or settings or a badass image of a solo fight between Champions, etc...An image on every other page is another format idea; morphing the entire story into a comic book is an option tht I like, but probably isn't practical bcuz neither Nathan nor Myself have the talent to draw.
Caelan Erikson was a Norseman in the late 10th century. Caelan's father was the best blacksmith in all of Norway. Caelan was nowhere near the Smithing talent of his father, but very few were. Caelan's talent was in that of leading men on raids & even more at true battle strategies in war & had won many solo duels.
In his mortal life, Caelan mainly fought with his Ax & Seax & Shield, but he started with a Spear that was usually thrown over all of his enemies at the very beginning of each battle; this was to sacrifice his Fallen enemies to The AllFather ODIN.

Another thing about Power weapons is that you need to be a Psyker to actually activate the disruptive field. Its just a regular sword in the hands of some pleb guardsman
Nah thats force weapons, which channel the psychic energy of the wielder into a disruptive field. Power weapons are just plain old science. But they’re very similar so it’s easy to get it confused, especially in darktide where the energy effects look the exact same lmao

so proud of depleted uranium
What I find intresting about the imperium, is that they weren’t always the xenophobic fascists that they are now, it was all during the age of strife that made them like that
The Imperium of Man is a creation of the Emperor. Before the Age of Strife, humans became masters of the galaxy by their own mastery over science, only the Warp and Chaos was capable of breaking their Star Trek-type life. That's why STC from that era is so powerful. Terminator armor was just a worker's safety gear...

Imagine the most stupidly overpowerd, unwieldy and costly weapon imaginable.

Macross giant mechs are superior
Power chainsword would be an awesome new hybrid weapon
There is a weapon called a chainfist, which is essentially just a powerfist with a small chainsaw attached to the bottom assasin's creed style.
Allthough the chain itself is not directly powered, by combining it with the fist's disruptorfield it can pretty much cut throug everything like hot butter. It is primarily used by terminators to cut through the armoured hulls starships and spacehulks.
Also the eldar have chainswords with teeth that are artificially sharpened to the point of being as thin as a single atom, pretty much acchieving a similar performance to that of a powerblade.
