    This sounds more like the true nature of God than what I've been taught all these years. This truly make since about the covenant and The Seed of Abraham. Which was Jesus Himself and God the Father. Thank you.

      Yes. I think so too. In the end of the day, it's by understanding One Person and His Work that will help people to be all they're called to be and to do all they're called to do...

    My goodness. All these years I thought I understood the dynamics of the covenant. I thought I grasped why Christ had to come and die as a human. I thought i fully grasped the substitution and adoption. The line "Christ is God's covenant partner" changes everything though. No wonder Christ said his yoke is easy and His burden light. Why don't churches teach this?!

    • @BasRijksen
      @BasRijksen  Před 9 lety +4

      ohnoezitsjoez Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm glad you got your got so blessed by watching this video with simple teaching. Yep, Christ is god's covenant partner, thus NOTHING DEPENDS ON YOU ANYMORE. THIS is called the Gospel. Why churches don't teach this?
      The reason, I believe, is that most preachers just read and follow
      the popular contemporary scholars and preachers of our time. So they
      are merely repeating what they’ve heard and read, thus miss out on
      this critical dimension of “grace-filled living.”

    • @ohnoezitsjoez
      @ohnoezitsjoez Před 9 lety +4

      Bas Rijksen That's likely a big reason why. I just think of those who came from where I did, where sin consciousness and law mentality (lens) is the normal way of living for believers... and then I think of how freeing this is. When you are steeped in this law mentality for years and years, those roots go down deep. I still fight it, still have tons of questions. In my heart I know this is true, but in my head, I am like "What about this verse, what about that verse?" Harmonizing the two has been the struggle. I know how difficult it has been for me to even begin renewing my mind, it feels like surgery. Then I think of all those still trapped in that old theology, trapped so long they are in full blown Stockholm Syndrome (I know I was). The people need this message. Thanks for doing your part! :D

      ohnoezitsjoez Stockholm syndrome, oh my gosh!!! Don't get me wrong, but I have been abused extensively since I was just a toddler and into my adult life. I have failed in all of my relationships because of the tendency to always go back to the familiarity of the abuser. The thought of missing eternity with love and peace with Jesus because somehow I chose the religious abuse over grace makes my blood run cold. 2003 was my last relationship. No kidding! I have been seeking to lay ahold of my relationship with Christ ever since 03. I do know that I was saved at 17, immediately after being saved and water baptized , one night while in bed,I felt paralyzed with fear and unable to move, but could only cry out to Jesus in my mind, then suddenly a brilliant white peace started at the top of my head and pushed the blackness of the enemy down my body and out of my feet. I feel that the Lord revealed his Holy Spirit to me then, yet I am still insecure about my salvation because of the abuse that I suffered as a child. Anyhow I may have said too much and rambled on. Have a wonderful day and maranatha!!!

    May I know what do you mean by look to Jesus ?
    Is it that I should pray to him for that ?
    or
    Is it that I should believe whatever he has is mine to (including wisdom, health, etc. )

  • @truerealist757
    @truerealist757 Před 2 lety

    The covenant was made with Abraham indeed, for God had said, "I will make of thee". Proving that God looked not to Abraham to make it sure for the word "I will" does not take into account anything that is of Abraham. And since he promised, "This man (Eliezer) shall not be your heir but one who is your very flesh and blood" meaning Christ who is in every way of the seed of Abraham made under the Law yet not after Abraham but is the express image and likeness of God. Only when this Son was truly revealed was the covenant Confirmed(ratified)....and only after a covenant is confirmed can it be fulfilled.
    Many keep saying why is not this taught? But regardless of how clearly it is taught, Grace is indeed taught. The thing is, just as under the Hebrew law system not many were willing or able to let go of their old religion. It always sound good from a historical perspective but how many are willing to let go of their own goodness/merits/good deeds. We love to hear of the grace messages only when we are in sin and guilt but soon dismiss it once we are doing well for ourselves thus reverting to the old works-salvation religion.

    Hi Bas, I'm confused. At the 12:23 mark you say to make Jesus every aspect of our life and to ask Jesus for all of our needs ie: healing, wisdom, faith, etc., yet Jesus said in the Bible to ask his Father (God) for everything in Jesus' name. Here you say to only ask Jesus???
    Which way is the Truth???

    • @OMGaNEWBIE
      @OMGaNEWBIE Před 4 lety

      @Gatto Di Ossa - Thank you for trying to help, but that makes no sense whatsoever. God's energy is so powerful that he needed a powerful surrogate to work thru. ie: Holy Spirit & Jesus.
      If Jesus is God, then who was Jesus talking to when he went off on his own to chat with his Father? See, your answer makes no sense. I and the Father are one, IMO, means that they are of like mind & energy. Not that they are actually one and the same.
