Basic Training has been a Horrible experience so far! I arrived July 28 and I’ve been here over a month now, in quarantine the entire time and haven’t even started any training! People from my barracks kept testing positive for covid and when 1 person tests positive the entire bay has to quarantine an additional 2 weeks. Every time we get to the end of our quarantine we do another covid test and more people test positive so then we have to restart quarantine! I’m not sure if I’ll ever get out of here... they let us have our phones all day and night until we get out of here which is nice, otherwise I would have went insane by now. (FLW Missouri)

Covid was just starting to get out of control when I got to BCT. Everything started out normal but by the time we got to White Phase, EVERYTHING changed. It kinda sucked. Our Forge consisted of rucking at night and sitting on our ruck sacks all day. We couldn't even wear our Dress Blues for Graduation. I've been at AIT for 4 months now and I am currently on quarantine due to leaving for a family emergency. I'm ready to leave 2020 behind.

I graduated bct August 14th from fort sill and it was a different experience. We still got hammered, had a shark attack and all that. But corona was serious we spent our whole cycle wearing mask except while running and conducting the acft. We lost 82 people from our battery. All of 3rd platoon tested positive, we spent 5 weeks in quarantine and that had a wild 4 weeks of training. Back to back long days, no rest days. We put the 10 weeks of training into 4 weeks and it was mentally really tough, at the same time so exciting. Felt like we never got a break. I’m happy with my experience though. Your videos helped a lot. Thanks for making these videos keep it up. Good luck to our future soldiers and remember have fun at basic it’s meant to change you for the better don’t forget that. Barry Dunegan so I went to Fort Leonard Wood. When I first got there we were in processing got tested for covid and we’re getting things we needed like our pt’s socks etc. The process took two days and we didn’t sleep for any of it. The first two weeks is called “yellow phase” I did not get my phone those two weeks I just got to know the people in my sleep bay. It was so boring, literally the most boring two weeks I’ve ever had. Then we started red phase, oh yeah we didn’t have a shark attack, can’t do combatives either which was sad. My company barely did pt in the morning, we ate field chow way more than we went to the defac. Lights out is 2100 and wake up always changed but most of the time it was 0600. I honestly didn’t like the experience. I hope you have a better one. Goodluck man!

  • @violetLizard
    @violetLizard Před 3 lety +2

Ft. LW originally in B1-48 for nearly 8 hours. No shark attack - gatorneck 24/7 (including sleeping). Was woken up and told I wasn't contagious but had to take 2 battles and see 1SG outside. Went into a quarantine building. I learned that a buddy I'd met at MEPS who was in the same company had tested positive (but never had symptoms), so I was in quarantine (2 bed room to myself), he was in isolation (same deal). Only real difference was we lined up for chow in the building and we had some freedom of movement, at least on our floor; isolation (buddy's building) had more strict stay in room except for hygiene and cleaning after each meal, and they got to-go boxes for every meal.
On day 15 in there, I got called up; went to the hold-under / RHU barracks across the street from 43rd (inprocessing). After 3 days, I got out back into quarantine because my original company had about 50% positives. 2 weeks later (in a 6 bed room) the 6 of us got called up and the 4 who were chaptering out went home quickly; my buddy and I who were going to BCT went to C1-58 and had a great time.
No Hammer; 2day/1night Anvil; 3day/2night Forge, Battle,March,Shoot, back to the barracks, warrior ceremony, then back to the barracks around 2300 and wake up at 0500. We had masks off most of the time, except when going somewhere inside (e.g. EST, inprocessing/photos, or ASU fitting)
Very easy cycle. Someone with 2 article 15s graduated. Lots of people who were not in shape graduated. When one of my DS was dropping us off for AIT, I asked her why the cycle was so easy and she basically said that they had to push us through - unless you gave up or broke (someone got out because she had a dislocated shoulder and a profile that took her out for about 6 weeks) you graduated. She said the undisciplined soldiers would likely be out of the Army within a year.

I had a normal BCT experience, however as soon as I got to AIT they put the whole battery in isolation, and stopped accepting new people for AIT (Graduated BCT just in time). We spent about a month and 1 week in isolation before they started accepting new people. Which wasn't too bad, everyone pretty much slept in all day and played video games.
One night during isolation the Sergeant on CQ came running up the stairs screaming telling everyone to get out of their rooms. Turns out three people ordered five large pizzas, three 2 liters, and bread sticks. He caught them running out the side door via cameras to grab the food.
Yeah those people got a UCMJ, 45 days extra duties, and phase 1 till they graduate AIT. Two of them ended up getting chaptered out of the army before they graduated for various other reasons that stacked. One did graduate, but the day after he graduated he stole $10 earrings from the exchange, then got put on more extra duty, then chaptered.

We had four weeks of red phase three weeks of white phase and 12 days of blue phase. We also did land nav in red phase. We got upu for breakfast and dinner and MRE’s for lunch. We only got to eat at the DFAC at reception. Also we didn’t get a warriors dinner after The Forge. No family day and no visitors during turning green. Instead it was live-streamed on Facebook. Little bit of advice wait until COVID is over to go to BCT, there are entire companies having outbreaks including mine when I just went, the first time I got covid I did two weeks of quarantine and went onto training the second time I had gotten it a bit worse and they started looking for reasons to discharge, they discharged me on bad headaches(which is a symptom of COVID) or also considered migraines, after three months of being at BCT they discharged me no choice for me just told you’re getting medically discharged

Graduated August 6th from Fort Jackson. Delta 3-60th. Currently in AIT. To sum it up my experience
    Masks all the time
No "real" shark attack. (Was like 10 minutes)
    Normal "Hammer" FTX 1
    Longer "Anvil" FTX 2
    Shorter "Forge" FTX 3
Yellow phase for 2 weeks at the start so we really didn't have much discipline unless you actually listened and tried.
    No combatives
    No family day
Hot as hell with a mask on
Only time in dfac was the victory breakfast.
Gas chamber was changed so we had to leave our masks on until we were about to walk out the door.
Most of the video summed it up.
My Drills said this was the time to be in basic.
Easy as hell and still even a good amount of people left.
My company rucked everywhere while the others took buses.
    Overall not a bad experience.
    Basically strict summer camp
Edit: we also got to go to the beach because some kid thought it was a good idea to steal an entire box of MRE's

Yeah I got shark attacked big time. I held my duffel overhead for about 2 hours while everyone took turns looking for their duffel because we all picked up random bags. It seemed like a proper shark attack to me. The starvation was the worst for me. We never got enough to eat and I lost 38lbs.

I went to Fort Knox Kentucky and did the gas chamber, pop up range, FTXs, Ruck marches. Only thing we didn't get to throw hand grenades and that was saved for Advance Camp. Yes, we had drill Sergeants as well getting smoked etc. Now I enlisted and it sucks to know I won't get to do combative training or buddy live fire.😕 I'm definitely getting robbed with my experience.

My SIT is currently in isolation. She made it through 2 weeks during controlled monitoring. Caught a ‘cold’ or something similar and asked to have her temp taken.
ISOLATED immediately! Test came back negative. Still isolated for 10+days! With all the covid positive trainees!!! No one has checked on her besides the testing center calling to ask about her symptoms. The rest of her group are still in the last week of reception, no quarantine! She has had her phone, is in a room alone, and completely lost on what will happen after.

I was apart of the basic training wave of covid just know it included a 2 week yellow phase where you just spent everyday inside the bay learning the values, general order, packing a ruck And chain of command and rank. You have to wear a mask every where and keep your distance. You won’t be able to leave your designated area and when it comes to graduation there will be no family days and trust me AIT doesn’t get better

I'm literally sitting in my AIT barracks rn at Leonardwood. Graduated BCT 2 days ago. We had 2 weeks of Controlled Monitoring quarantine, before reception, before haircuts, everything. After that, we went to the 43rd Reception BN and did all of our stuff. We had a shark attack and we did the whole shower drills and red phase stuff for like 3 days then they calmed down alot. Didnt do anything really hands on for First aid or for Radio operations or combatives. It kinda sucked tbh. But yeah that was my experience of COVID BCT

When I got through reception, everything seemed like a mess. Yes I had no shark attack but there was a lot of training during the first two weeks of "Yellow Phase" We had PT WITH MASKS ON. Running with masks, doing exercise through the worst with masks. It was towards the beginning of White phase where we could finally take them off during PT, and while eating(of course). Every other time you would have your mask on and stay 6 feet away from another person when possible. The bunks were reversed so the person on the bottom bunk would be looking towards feet on each side of the bunk and there would be looking at feet above you if it was transparent. Some showers and sinks were taped off for the whole time to spread amongst eachother while conducting Personal hygiene. Even STALLS were tapped off and were not available to use. That was the most ridiculous part honestly. We did not wear our ASUs for graduation and the graduation was live-streamed. There was no family or "battle buddy" day.
