If your national guard/reserve....its easy to "volunteer" for deployment without using mobcop/tour of duty (hint: it sucks)...anyways what you need to do is google units that are deploying or getting ready to deploy, or call your buddies from basic/ait...then you need to talk to that state's/unit's recruiter and ask to transfer to that unit to deploy...it work almost every time...as long as your GREEN on everything and you contact them early (not too early, unless you want to do drills with that unit prior) but also not to late

      @@ronny8537 OK, The standard:
SOF is 6 months on 6 months off (The 6 months off just means stateside, including training)
Combat Arms (General) is one step away from that 6 mths on 6-9 mths off, Normally 3-6 months training
Combat Support the next step 4-6 mnth on 6-9 mnths off. again 3-6 months training
Combat Service Support 3-6 mnth on 6-12 mnths off again 3-6 months training
Normally you would think that a Nodal Network would be in a very rear part of the military. Normal is anything but normal anymore. The above numbers are general TO&E and readiness standards for the Army. But, it's funny how some units never seem to be deployed. Depending on your preference you may find yourself slotted in a position that is going absolutely nowhere, not because your abilities are lacking but your unit isn't going anywhere unless the entire earth is at war. No matter what you hear from those that say get along to go along and don't volunteer, you will not advance unless you do. Make sure you do your duty and research Regulations regarding your MOS and your unit SOP. Be ready to cite any differences an inspection insists you've done something outside standards, Be sure to cover yourself with regulations. Be the unit lawyer if you will.
So, to answer your question as directly as I can. If your unit is up to standard and deployable. Normal non critical 25N will be Combat Service Support (CSS). On the occasion that the unit may be forward then you can enjoy Combat Support (CS) status. Actually often more advancement opportunities for those that take these positions.

Nowadays reserve and army National Guard deployments are usually under or around 12 months. If they keep you longer than 12 months they have to increase your pay by a pretty significant margin so they try to have you home prior to the year mark. More often than not, they run around 11 months.

Any reserve mobilization over 29,000 deducts from Army end strength. At least during “peace time”. This in effect limits reserve/guard deployment to 29,000. The Army Reserve/National Guard is around 550,000. Deployments are usually one year. So statistically, absent another Iraq or Afghanistan war, chances of being deployed, probably once during a 20 year career. Of course some units deploy more often. Others less. It’s a simple mathematical equation. With deployment schedule, most units won’t be deployed during a 4 or 5 year cycle. Again do the math.

Wait so what exactly is a staff officer? I can kinda see why you are one (cuz you’re a signal officer in a civil affairs unit) but what does a staff officer do exactly? (If you know)

    • @mr.k.i.s.s7496
      @mr.k.i.s.s7496 Před 3 lety

Make sure the Battalion has Signal Support: equipment, maintenance, supplies (Expendables), etc. Staff Officers make sure that their units have what they need, and they make sure the Paperwork (the Army loves it) is completed to track all that stuff. It sounds boring but it's absolutely necessary in every Battalion in the Army.

You all train together. Age does not matter. I'm not sure about gender wise. The military has changed so much since I've been out I have no idea on that anymore. No females were allowed in combat MOSs back then so it was all males. But that has changed now.

BLUF: DO NOT FOLLOW THIS GUY'S ADVICE! This is a CZcams channel, not a place to learn about the military
You have been in 5.5 years and you just finished BOLC in 2019 (4.5 years in)? Ugh. You're an S-6 OIC with a year out of BOLC? You S-6 Soldiers are probably wondering why it took so long and question your leadership.
    How to Deploy:
    1. Unit is deployed
    2. You're individually selected to fill a deployment
    3. You volunteer and are approved to deploy with a deploying unit.
Civil affairs is under USACAPOC but is not Special Forces.
Why do you have unit patches of units you've never been in?
You know nothing about deployability. Do not give random statistics and whether or not units are "up to the task". You get orders, you deploy, you go home. You don't prove you're able to do the job until you are at the mob site, already on order, and complete the equivalent of a situational training exercise.
Don't be surprised if the IG has a few questions for you after seeing these CZcams videos.
