Better listen all you spring chickens. I currently pay 6k a year in health insurance premiums at my job, plus out of pocket health care costs such as co pays deductibles etc. the military is much much cheaper. And that 6k a year is only for a married couple plan, if I had children it would be 8k a year.

Even if you are young and may not need to see the doctor as often you want to invest in healthcare. It may seem like a waste of money now but when something happens, you'll want to have it. Its one of the first few things they'll ask you when you go into a clinic or hospital. Im young myself and have literally had Tricare because of my father and now my husand. If you can get it, please enroll yourself and any other family members you may have.

Paying $350 a month for my wife and my son is way better but still so expensive. I am definitely thinking of join the military to help me change career and build a future for my family. This is a great benefit for many Reserve and Guard members. However, I note that Reserve and Guard members who are also Federal civilian employees are not permitted to use Tricare Reserve Select for their medical care. A Reserve or Guard member who is a Federal civilian employee is required to use the Federal civilian employee health care program, which is known as the Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB) program. Unfortunately FEHB is more costly than TRICARE. Recent legislation will change this, and will extend TRICARE eligibility to Reserve and Guard members who are Federal civilians, but it won't be effective until 2030. I will add that at this time Reserve or Guard members who are Federal civilians can only use TRICARE Dental.

When I got out of active duty, my fiancée at the time was paying around $662/month for her medical insurance. Before we even got married, she absolutely pressured me to get into the reserves. After getting married, the first thing I had to do was get her into my tricare reserve plan. She cried like a baby when she found out the cost of our family plan would be a fraction of her old individual plan. I made rank about a year ago, so my deductible increased, but her former individual plan is still almost twice as expensive than what we're paying now for the whole family. We're trying for 2 more kids, and I find it crazy that my fees won't be going up any more than what it is now. It'll be a sad day when I finally have to get off of tricare reserve select.
    Edit: typo somewhere.

LOL is abbreviation of “Laugh Out Loud”. Essentially it used in texts similar to when people use a smiley face in text messages or comments.

you gotta pay for a having a baby? tf not here. god bless Netherlands where hospitals are free.

      Annual taxable income (gross)
      € 0 to 20.384 - 36,65% tax
      € 20.385 to 34.300 - 38,10% tax
      € 34.301 to 68.507 - 38,10% tax
      € 68.508+ - 51,75% tax
Hospital is *definitely* not free here. Personally, I would rather pay insurance and use what service I need rather than pay high tax for a service. Tax rate in Netherlands discourages earning more, I think. While I’m in the United States, I notice people keep more of their income and decide how to spend and make investments. It is easier to make investments in health care in the USA than it is here. I’m not trying to start a problem, but just letting you know that you are paying for hospital no matter what.
Edit* also just checked out your channel! Great stuff, super cool! Keep it up!

@Centurion 0mega it certainly is more expensive. And you also need to factor in the cost of paying for those that are not paying taxes, like recent immigrants, children, and the elderly.
