I made a Huge Mistake - Bend to Alvord Desert - Day 3

- On day 3 of the Bend to Alvord Desert I made huge mistake. When going through my backup routine for my memory cards, I thought I had backed up my main camera but had not and I formatted the memory card preparing it for the next day. When I realized the mistake I had made I was devastated. Luckily I still had my drone footage and Edward Shin gave me his footage of the day as well.
That day was special to me because we traveled to the Grumman A-6 Intruder Crash Site and replaced the American flag. The Grumman A-6 Intruder has been left as a memorial to the two pilots that lost their lives during a low level training exercise.

The respect you’ve shown our Military, gets to me every time. Thank you from a grateful Veteran
Don't apologize. This video shows how awesome Edward is and how amazing you are for the respect to our military. As a Veteran, this means a lot. Thank you.
As an recently retired Army veteran here in WA thank you Jason for your patriotism and your respect for our Service Members & love for our country taking care of Old Glory, love your channel, keep it up
As a Navy veteran, Bravo Zulu to you! Thank you for the history lesson on the pilots who lost their lives.
Agreed
THANK YOU for the respect you showed toward our nation’s flag and the men and women who have served under it. My husband served as a Marine for 25 years and I can’t begin to tell you how encouraging it is to see that there are still those that see the cost of the freedoms they enjoy! Beautiful photographs and beautiful tribute….thank you again!
Thank you for raising our great flag to honor the fallen. It’s nice to see people who still respect the flag and show love for what this country stands for. God bless. 🇺🇸
No need for an apology on the footage Jason. Really appreciate that you furnished a new flag at the wreckage and your tribute to those airmen and all those who have given their lives in service to our great country so that we may remain free.
Sir, I have always enjoyed your adventure content. But, when you step beyond that, and offer your patriotic sentiments about the aspects of the American Flag, what it stands for, and the men and women who fought and died for what that simple piece of cloth represents, I admire and appreciate you even more. Onward!
Absolutely stunning and beautiful photo of our flag honoring the pilots and our country. Thank you Jason and Edward.
As a Navy veteran. I love the photos of the plane 🇺🇸.
Dennis from Delaware
The respect you showed to our service men and women made the video top notch. Thank you!
Thank you for keeping the flag waving!! It's a very humbling spot.
As a veteran, thank you so much for replacing that flag. I salute you.
Thank you, love the video. You respect for the men and women that serve our country is great. Thanks again..
Beautiful footage of a very significant event and for me, the moments became even more impactful.
Thank you for your continual respect of our flag and all it represents🇺🇲
Thank you for taking that flag 🇺🇸 out there and showing your respects. I’ve spent numerous years on separate aircraft carriers and it’s always tough to lose aircraft and crewmen
GO NAVY ⚓️
Wife and I drove the new van over Hood to Terebonne Tuesday night. Wednesday we stopped at a friend's house in Bend on our way to LaPine for an inspection. We were planning to spend a day back in Bend, but a customer called with an emergency in Newport so we booked it over there and spent the night. Thank you so much for your videos. You convinced me to get the van and we are loving it.
Thank you for changeing 🇺🇸 flag, my respect to you, all Soldiers and veterans. Keep the great work up. Stefan /Germany🇩🇪
Jason your channel inspires me with every episode. I think it’s really cool that you brought a new flag. No apologies necessary.
Most excellent tribute with the flag. Your recap of the day was the best lemonade from lemons that I have seen in quite awhile Jason!
Oh man no need to apologize , I loved this video. When I saw the downed plane my thought was that I would put a new flag on the wreckage. And then you pulled out a flag , that was awesome to see. Much respect to you for that and thumbs UP for sure!
Bomber crash site here in NH on Mt. Waternomee and yes hiking to it and seeing the flag flying is touching. Thank you for honoring the site with a new flag.
You did good, Jason, you did good. Thank you!
Thanks for honoring our brothers and sisters in arms. Something so minute in the middle of nowhere many people didn't even know existed. The little things mean a lot......
That sir was a great thing you did for all of us Americans! Thank you!👍🏽😀❤️🇺🇸
Jason great story teller sometimes is all we need. I served with a Marine fixed wing attack squadron and remember when we lost two aircraft and one aircrew in a training exercise. Stood guard all night in the southwest desert crash site till daybreak. Appreciate your Honoring our absent brothers…keep up the great work.
Great on yah! Thank you for the tribute to us Veterans. Also love your videos...always great to watch with a warm cup of coffee to start my day.
Thanks for replacing the flag. So many service members die in training accidents and they are seldom remembered or memorialized. We all make mistakes and a mistake in backing up a camera is one of the job hazards. Great video. Be safe
Old Glory and a celebration of FREEDOM. God bless!
Thank you for replacing the flag and honoring that aircrew. AF Vet
no need for apologies..you are doing something most of are not doing, and that is capturing moments and life in time. Great job as always!
Despite the error, you still put together a lovely video for us to enjoy. It's not about the mistakes in life...it's about the recoveries and you recovered exceptionally well!
Great job putting this video together! It was stunning despite your mistake. Thank you for making the extra effort to recognize the sacrifice of those pilots. It matters!
I'm quite proud of you replacing the flag. Good job!
Tough break on loosing the footage, but nice save. Life doesn't always goes as planned, but how we recover is what really matters. 🇺🇲
Great shots of the new flag and tail section! Pretty epic to be the one to place the flag everyone will see for quite some time before it needs to be replaced again.
We stopped by there February of last year. You can spend a solid day exploring around the wreckage. It's a humbling experience knowing that's the final resting spot for 2 Americans who gave everything for their country.
Bummer you lost the footage, but live and learn. Luckily Edward was with you so he could share.
Thanks for sharing what you had and making the best of it 👍
Hey no biggie dude. Enjoyed this. Thanks for replacing the flag, what a great thing to do. God bless our military.
Still great… a lesson was learned so not all was lost. Nice replacing the flag. Can’t wait to see Day 4.
One of the reasons I love your videos is their always real! Great work!
Great work Jason, looking forward to your next one 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks for the video! I want to travel to this monument. My brother was at the siege of khe sanh in the ammo dump at the start. Now passed thank you for respect. Showing us a new path for honor!
I think the world is a little brighter with a new flag out there.
Nice work on this less than perfect episode.
Thanks for honoring our fallen airmen.
They deserve our respect and gratitude.
Rock On
Always enjoy your trips out there. Looking forward to the rest of the journey. As a Viet Nam Air Force veteran thanks for showing such great respect to all the service men who put Country first above all else. Wishing we could see more of that today.
Thank you for your service, for us that are old enough to remember when the Vietnam War/Conflict was going on, it was a terrible time for our man and women. The loss of 58,200 Americans along with the loss to the Canadians, South Koreans, Thailand, Australia and New Zealand they will never be forgotten. Don't under estimate how many of us out here still love and respect our Flag and what it represents to us and all of the man and woman that have died or given part of themselves to our Country so we can be free.
Great composition on those stills you did. Just beautiful! For me, typically I have to make the same mistakes three or four times before I get a clue. Great video.
Too much Pendleton's, it'll happen man. The main take away is that your friend had your back and life goes on. Thanks again for sharing your adventures and passions.
Great Video sir, May God Bless the family of the two pilots who lost their lives in that accident
Don't go too hard on yourself, we are always subject to technical issues... Congratulations for the attitude in paying the respects with the new flag. Great video!
Great video with excellent empty space. The colors, the light the story where all first rate. I love the flag! Nice tribute. Skillet
Outstanding! The flag was amazing. You are a rockstar!
Jason. You did fine! I appreciate all of your efforts. Thanks for putting a new flag on the A-6, that more than makes up for any shortcomings on your recording efforts.
Really nice job on the spirit of the trip, the footage and pictures you did capture. I’m always so impressed with your talent Jason!!!
Very nice recovery. Thanks for keeping it real.
I found the flag in the sage brush this morning. I did my best to reattach it with what I had. I was proud my stock 87 Toyota made it. Some pretty deep rutts
No worries Jason, great recap and save. We were in the Alvord the same time you were in route.
You brought tears to my eyes replacing the American flag. Thank you.

Thank you from a Spirited Air Force Vet.
Man no worries. I am an electronics engineer and stuff happens every day with technology at work. I have lost whole trips of video because of mishaps. Computers and technology in general is still a new thing for the most part. Not ready for prime time is what I say. It happens and I totally understand. Nice recovery. Edward is a class act.
Beautiful video Jason, I have so much respect for you for going out there and doing that. It was great seeing you earlier in town. Safe travels bud!
