I'm currently serving in the army infantry. The video is accurate and well put together. I'm glad you made it because not many others, including the SANDF itself, doesn't really give out resources to find out more about what it means and what it takes to join. So thank you.
I’m currently 17 and have another year of school left, I’m pretty sure about going to uni and know what I want to study but I feel like joining the military will be good for me.I’m quite an athletic, physical person so the idea of training is exciting and (coming from years of martial arts) I’m all for learning and applying the discipline needed.I’ve been watching SANDF videos all the time to get a better grasp of what I’ll be getting myself into. So thank you for the informative video.
This video is accurate, what you didn’t mention though is that after basic training one can get a bursary and go back to university. I’m now working at an offshore oil refinery rig, 4000km away from South Africa, it was the SA Army that sent me to university at zero costs to me, and enabled me to be here today. It all started at 3 Sai Battalion one January 20th day when I started with my basic training.
My son applied last year and they didn't call him and they said he qualifies. His year again he went the guy that was assisting him to apply was shocked why he wasn't called cause he qualifies he even gave him the Navy application to fill we waiting to see if they'll call him this year and that's his passion to serve his Country
He explained it on point number 4. It falls under Advanced Individual Training. I applied for the 2025 intake for SAMHS (South African Military Health Service)
Stupid ANC politics don’t matter there, at least when I was there (2003 - 2008). It’s either you’re capable or you’re not, it don’t matter what your skin color is. It’s a great way to start a life, just don’t stay in the army till you’re 30.
im 17 and i want to join the military but I want to know if I can still get accepted into uni after serving. or if its best to first go to uni and then military. All i know is that i still want to go you university after
I have heard that i can join the army with a grade 10 lvl education I really want to join the army and i only have a grade 10 and i did a mechanical engineering trade course i didnt pass it and just got a qcto Is there any way for me to join the army?
So here is the thing. I want to join the army. I just realized that it is what I actually want to do. I will be 27 years in June next year. Since applications are always released on January, which means I will still be 26 years old by then. Will I be right if I say I'm still eligible to apply? Like i'm qualified?. I'm in possession of 4 years Tertiary qualification. I just want to be sure on whether am I still qualified or not. Anyone with a better understanding of military recruitment 🙏
You would of heard there is a contradiction in the vid. You need grade 12 then later he mentions for those without grade 12. It used to be You can become an officer without Matric . I wouldn't let it stop you applying.

If I go to university and I get out of University by 24 or 25 years of age, can I still go join the permanent force?
So long as you apply while under 26 yes
Not doing a great job in the art of boarder control .
Maybe less time studying and more time soldiering is required.
In 1978 the SA army wanted me and I declined - for world travel- today I’m so happy I never served as it lot of garbage 🗑️
Good they did not accept you. Sound to soft for the army . Viva SANDF
Joke indeed
You forgot to mention when and how they contact you back after selection for BMT?🥲
