    Orange County CA
    Episode 69
Laguna Canyon (also called Cañada de las Lagunas) is a gorge that cuts through the San Joaquin Hills in southern Orange County, California, directly south of the city of Irvine. The canyon runs from northeast to southwest and is drained on the north side by tributaries of San Diego Creek and on the south by Laguna Canyon Creek. The canyon is deeper and more rugged on the southwestern end near Laguna Beach.
In 1989 protesters marched down Laguna Canyon Road to prevent the development of shopping centers, golf courses and thousands of homes throughout the open space. They succeeded. Today, Laguna Canyon is home to 22,000 acres of wilderness.
This trip starts in Irvine on Route 133 (Laguna Canyon Road) just north of the 405 which we quickly pass under headed South to Laguna Beach (11:15).
