Glad you didn't just hate on Nikon for 15 min and 7 seconds without trying them out!

No shit fro did that and I’m like, wasn’t this everything you were bitching about? Give it a chance

@@onthemoverealestatephotogr9655 You got that right! So many "youtube photographers" out there making click bait articles. Lol
@@sttv1570 because they promote the company that sponsors them more. That's why some flip flop between brands so much.
For real! Why have so many of the popular photographer channels just want massive increase in resolution, or best in class eye focus? When did we all start taking portraits of people running at us or dancing around? Why has it boiled down to this?
Thank God!! A positive and objective review of a great system. Other vlogers seem to be on a mission to kill Nikon's sales. I love the quality of the Nikon images!! They are superb!!! Highly recommend this system!!
An objective review should mention that Nikon lacks in almost every aspect that requires processing power. Doubling an old technology processor doesn't seem to work vs the competition..
They need something close to DIGIX X..and yes they will do it in their next gen but the competition is offering it NOW.
@@kostaskonstantinidis7318 Nikon Camera can do pretty much what everyone else offers and yet Nikon files out of camera are the best.
@@kostaskonstantinidis7318 - I'd be interested in how factual your statement above once you got to run the mk.2's to pace. ;) Until then...
@@asusbose Sorry, but having used all the systems, I'd say Fuji has better files straight out of camera... Unless you REALLY like magenta, there is no reason to say that about the Nikon / Adobe workflow. Haven't touched my Photoshop since I switched to Fuji.
@@punkrachmaninoff magenta....why. It depends on WB as u set before taking shots
I'm very happy to learn, from this video, that the low-light focus acquisition has been improved. I was not happy with the Z6 or Z7 low light constant hunting in auto-focus. I've pre-purchased the Z7 II and have high hopes that will be resolved. I sent in the Z6 body for credit towards the Z7 II. Thank YOU, Kai, as always... entertaining while informative. :) all the best to you in 2021
I think you are the only reviewer I care the opinion of and still appreciate the videos. I still watch the review of everyone, but too many feel bias or salty. Honest reviews, with a touch of humour. banging.
I really despise bloggers like Tony and Matt and Jared who openely critsied everything about these new cameras'
They should be open and pleased that Nikon is upping their game
More lenses are coming and more Z camera's
Hey, Jared just read out the specs. If you thought he was sh**on on the cameras, it's just because the specs for these cameras are not that great. Nothing more.
Tony and Chelsea are too busy reviewing mobile phone cameras lol
It is year 2020 and people still listening to Jared? He's been around for a long time but just look at his photography skills. He is getting better at "content creation", but his photography is stagnant. He used to review long telephoto lenses for sports and he took many terrible shots while testing it, did not justify the capability of those lenses. For entertainment, yes. Might once a while can watch Jared Polin. But if you based your purchased by watching Jared, then its a mistake
It's a shame that in today's age people listen to the opinion of non professionals like Polin, Northrup, Granger when industry greats like Joe McNally, Jerry Ghionis, etc are producing timeless images (not to please the insta crowd) with the same equipment. I'd rather listen to them. Even on Canon's side there are greats like Joel Grimes, Dan Norton (who isn't gear conscious) and other brand users like Gavin Hoey etc.
agree, but at least that Matt guy have skills in photography unlike Fro and Toneh
Man this video looks just so crispy!
Seems like you are the only reviewer that does not talk bullshit about Nikon. Thanks.
An improvement of already pretty good Cameras. Sounds great to me, im rooting for Nikon!
Also, the Z Lenses are truly amazing.
Sonys and canon are still better so think twice
@@bishandhreekc7104 Better than the Z-lenses at same price tag?? Ive seen quite a few tests/comparisons saying otherwise........
@@torevalberg3510 yes the RF Lenses work definitely better...so...oh yes i hope you the know the dual stabilization from the lenses + sensor giving upto 8 stops of stabilization best for photo ik i have used it.....and wayyyyy better than sonys stabilization (only ibis) and nikon only ibis which is poor as per sharpness goes i would say
1. Canon new glass(RF)
2. Nikon glass (but didnt have all the main glasses till now and the systems AF is very very very laggy )
3. Sony (good AF but sharpness is poorer than nikon and canon new glass but if u can opt for zeiss glass oh god these small beauties will work amazing)
I have used all 3 and i own an R5 and let me tell u i will be so happy after that decision....and if ur a nikon fan go for it what matters is PHOTOGRAPHY or videography...ENJOY....

I like that he’s funny, unlike some who take themselves seriously. More power to Kai.
Look at Kai man Wong sporting his Batman!!!! Great success to you in 2021!!!! Love ya!!!
Wow so much hate in the comments for Nikon and the mark IIs...they addressed all the naysayers' "problems" and people STILL have issues? Do you *really* need 4k 60 internal?
People are just finding excuses to just bash on nikon, seems like the popular thing to do nowadays.
Here's some things nikon does that the "competition" (hint: begins with S) still hasn't quite nailed - ergonomics and UI. The Zs are just plainly nice to hold and shoot. They're designed for ease of use. Can you really say the same for the other mirrorless brand?
I won't be upgrading to the mark II from my Z6 purely for the fact that I don't need to for my purposes...Z6 is still a fantastic cam for what I use it for! But still rooting for them since they're a legacy company still making great glass (but perhaps lacking in their marketing department!)
I'm not even sure why there's any hate towards any brand since each one's flagships address different use cases. Example: Sony - Full frame Video, Nikon - Full frame Photography, Canon - Overheating, etc.
@@tomcruz3774 you're judging the whole Canon camera line because a mirrorless camera is able to record full frame 8k internally with no built in fan for a couple minutes the least Nikon can do is update their eye tracking if Canon can keep up with Sony there should be no excuse for Nikon
Even purely for photography, the R5 is leaps and bounds ahead of the Z7 II. Im saying this as a D850 owner with zero interest in video who really wanted this new camera to be a home run.
@@youknowwho9247 delusional
@@youknowwho9247 And the R5 is about 1000 dollars more than the Nikon. Nice comparison!
Well done Nikon
I own two Z6 cameras, battery packs, 70-200 f2.8, 24-70 f2.8 & 85mm f1.8, I shoot weddings, yeah with one card slot, completely confident, absolutely no problems. I use eye detect and tracking options all the time don't really miss any frame which is out of focus. The files are great, colours, quality, etc. Loads of great systems out there, Canon, Sony, etc doing a brilliant job....and? I get great results and my clients are very happy. No need to upgrade to this new tweaked range of cameras, the Z6 still does a brilliant job for me and I am not worried about any price drop in resale as I am too busy taking photographs with my existing kit. I will be happy to wait another two years for the Z9
Love you Kai. Nikon!
Excellent review.
I love this mk.2. Nikon is not to be outdone by Canon R. Nikon did it right, because they did it twice.
Did it twice... and still behind Sony AND Canon. Yes... they have been completely outdone by Canon.
@@pgsanta Sony, yes! but Canon? Even the continuous autofocus on the R6 isn't as reliable and the video functions kind of laughable with the limited run times.
@@pgsanta Of course it's behind Sony in some respects, this is a second generation mirrorless versus Sony at generation four. I tried the A7II and frankly it was bad, with weird color and compression artifacts in RAW files; maybe the III and IV models are improved but I'm happy with the Z6. Personally, as someone who has shot with Canon for a number of years before moving to primarily Nikon, I find the better dynamic range and more accurate color science in the Nikons preferable to the Sonys (similar DR, worse color, worse video) and Canon (poor DR, traditionally better AF but honestly not much, every video mode is a compromise). There are arguments for each system but the Nikons offer more consistency in the lens lineup, top of the line video with RAW recording, lenses with no focus breathing or aberrations, and all at lower price points than the competition. I would say they're doing it right.
@@shlawchablaas Nikon might have more pleasing colors to your eye, but they are not more accurate. More consistency in the lens line up in what way? If we’re comparing latest gen to latest gen, they are clearly behind in just about every way to both Canon and Sony, unless you want to go through mental gymnastics and compare them to the A7II and EOS R.
Nice and balanced and I agree, its a bloody camera. Has a great sensor, fast enough autofocus for real life. Whats not to love? I have a Z7 for me it will do the job for years to come but I'm confident Nikon will keep producing the goods. Especially now that they have rounded out the trinity and added in a few specialised lenses. They can now concentrate more on a pro body, and a few super telephotos without as much pressure.
Kait, good video as usual! I own the D5 D850 and the D500 with 25 Prime F mount Nikon lenses including the 600mm E FLED 500mm PF 300mm PF 200mm f:2 etc.. Is it worth it to get into the mirrorless game yet? I waited for Version 2 of these cameras and it's finally here, or should I wait for the Z9 which is the D6 Mirrorless equivalent? Thanks in advance!
I am happy for Nikon
Honestly I have no interest in these cameras, but the video made me dig out ‘Discovery’ and blast the whole album. Masterpiece. Thanks Kai!
My main question would be: Can it write video to both cards?
I already have a Z6 and love it. The updates are fantastic for somebody getting into the system but for me none of them are necessary, so instead of upgrading I'm going to buy more Nikkor Z lenses. Kai's right, some of the best glass out there for clean, sharp quality and bang for buck.
Which one would be good enough for HDRI for 3D modelling and for shooting textures?
I notice that when the Sony A7SIII came out, literally on my youtube subscriptions there are about a dozen influencer reviews all coming out at the same time. With the Z6II, Kai is the only review out. I think Sony really did something to get youtube influencers in board. It speaks about Nikon's inefficiency at getting their message out.
yeh that was at a time when you could organise a fun day out for all the youtards at some event space. thanks to coronie thats no longer possible and the uk has dropped the ball big time on looking after that one. also sony cleverly made it all about the AF when they cracked it. making great pains not to draw any attention to the **** interface / ergonomics / workflow or also that they drop support for their older cameras faster than an election promise.
@@mrrolandlawrence yet both photographers and videographers would rather have a Sony the numbers don't lie Nikon is barely in existence
Old fashioned vs Drive

@Comfy Reviews Nikon can do the same but they aren't playing the competition game...though they are
Kai, can you do a video, comparing the Z6ii 4K 60 fps with the firmware update for video quality VERSUS the Z7ii 4K 60 fps video ? I want to see a video addressing this, to inform me on which one to buy. ❤️
Nice. Quick review. Would like to see if the auto eye af is faster and better then my z6 though. Still waiting
Felt like this was the only review not taking a sh*t on Nikon’s new mirrorless systems. Thoroughly enjoyed this and leveled the field with this review as someone testing the waters in seeing what mirrorless system to go to.
Fave cam guy !!
Very interested in the Z7.2 suits my needs perfectly will be a nice upgrade from my D810 in a year or two. Also nice to see a hands on look at them that isn't just hating on Nikon like a lot of other youtubers out there who are just hating on Nikon with out even using the new camera's. There's only so much a spec sheet can tell you.
I have that same stone island sweater bruv !!!
Looks like good incremental upgrades, but holding on to my Z6 until the next round of cameras. As a wedding, high school senior, and landscape guy, it works well for me.
In the meantime - getting that new 70-200 and 50 1.2 to compliment my 24-70 2.8S and 14-30 F4. Love that Nikon glass!
Those glasses are daBomb. 👍 fantastic piece of glass comparable to ZEISS if not less. I mean A f2.8 Nikon Z lens will give a great run for money to a Zeiss Batis System effortlessly the Color fringe, clarity all are so much controlled !
Hey Kyle! :p
1:00 What are you doing in that hotel room? Based on the spotter scope sat on the table, I'd say you're looking at folks through all those windows.
;)
Finally Nikon did it right
LOL) 2 years to make 2nd card slot and a bit better eye-af? Nothing right here)
@XpycT 1. Why Sony? We're discussing Nikon or what?
2. Not comparable at all. Sony was the first who made mirrorless full frame camera. Now it's time for competition and Nikon should try harder to keep up.
@@yakovlevpaul because you're talking like other companies did it better faster when they didn't. The Z6/Z7 isn't even their flagship camera. It took Sony 4 generations to get a properly working camera. Problem Sony had at the beginning was 1 card slot. Overheating, poor battery life, terrible weather sealed.
And no AF focus. Nikon flagship Z8/Z9 series comes out next year. I don't care if it takes them 3 years to release their flagship camera if that's means I don't have to buy a new camera every year to get the new improved AF.
Oh, and Sony wasn't the first company with Mirrorless.
@@envyrish The fact is - Nikon should try harder. Nikon is behind Canon/Sony, so they should try even harder. But they failed with Z6/7 ii. Just an update for an update.
Ps Read carefull next time. I said Sony was the first to make FULL FRAME mirroless, not just mirrorless.
Haters gonna hate. Pavel, Daimler patented the first 4-wheeled car. I guess you drive that brand, correct?
Hi
How does this compare to the D780, if purchasing today, should I go with f780 or the z6ii. Is the IQ same between them, what about the colors, are the colors same for z6ii and d780. I mostly click family photos, mainly of my 2 year old daughter.
Are the changes to : Video AF getting eye detection, how you can switch focus modes (including face, eye, and animal eye in the quick menu), and the ability to change the focus ring coming as firmware to the Z6/Z7 first gens? It doesn't really seem like those would require the dual processors, and would be not huge but nice additions.
That's a lovely hotel
Any chance you got some insight on video recording limits? I assume they carry over from the original Z6/Z7 and since you didn't mention any kind of overheating test, you probably didn't try recording for longer periods, but if you've got any information that'd be helpful.
Which camera is better Z6 II or D850 ?
A Mark II updates are probably the fastest I’ve seen for any major camera company. They pushed out their next green faster than Sony alpha did wow. I hope this isn’t a Mirrorless camera trend. I hope that camera companies can make cameras that would last a few years before the next iteration.
Hi! You tried both the Nikon z6II and the Fuijfilm xh2s right? I am looking for a professional camera for portrait shoots/ wedding photography? I can’t choose! Any thoughts? Would love to hear!
I just bought a z6 II 2 weeks ago. I haven't had much time to play with it yet but I'm liking what I see so far. Big improvement with the auto focus from the d750 I was previously using.
Would you say its on par with the D750 or even better ? Mainly asking for low light auto focus
@@biglebowski3486 I haven't really had a chance to test out the low light capabilities yet but it's better from everything I've seen on it. It's supposed to be able to auto focus with just a quarter moon out.
@@biglebowski3486 I have since been out twice to take milky way pictures. It is better than the d750. The z6 and z6 ii have the same sensor. If you don't need all the extra features on the z6 ii you can save some money and just get the z6. You can put what you save towards the 20mm z lens. They say it's phenomenal. Much better than the original.
My appreciation to Kai once again. I got a Nikon ZEEE 6 (sorry, that terrible American accent) a year ago and loved it as, believe it or not, a video camera. Oh, it takes great photos. I am happy to see this balanced and fair review of the new Nikon "mark ii" cameras. My big question is whether it Nikons have an edge over the Panasonic S5 because of their focusing capabilities. When you have to shoot run and gun video (documentary and news style), autofocus is a great standby.
Too small of an upgrade for me to personally get the newer versions. Probs will wait for the mark 3 with a bigger jump in changes as my z6 still over performs and is still super capable for what I do, notably single point focus doing still street and night photography, so barely any moving targets. Would probably upgrade or purchase a z7iii if it came out to have both combos.
Mate... Barley is a plant. It don't move.
@@xmlthegreat whoops, thanks mate
Agreed! Most current Z6/Z7 users are likely better off waiting for the third generation unless they absolutely must have 2 card slots or 4k 60 fps for some reason.
Agreed. It makes more sense for those getting into the system and those wanting to add additional bodies. It doesn't make as much sense as a straight upgrade. And that's OK. I wish Nikon did a little more, but hopefully this will be enough to maintain their share if not increase it slightly. The pricing is at least competitive and makes for a compelling option even with the latest competition.
@@lolfirepoisonftl I'd love to have those two things for my work but yeah, not willing to buy a new camera that is mostly the same.

Half of my feed is these cameras, what are you talking about?
Well, technically he didn't get his hands on...
Asshats = no. Proper feedback = yes.
Hey Kai, great video, very interesting preview of the two cameras. One question at 3:45 you say the Z7 II is a 1.1x crop at 4K 60 and the Z II is a DX crop at 4K 60, s that definitely the case? If so, would you argue that Nikon has flipped the video focussed camera from the Z6 to Z7 - as I believe there was more of a crop on the Z7 than Z6 initially - unless I'm getting my wires majorly crossed?
The Z7 uses line skipping while the Z6 doesn’t, so video will still be better on the Z6.
@@ghas4151 yeah I’m with you on that, I just don’t get the logic for the crop on the Z6 II, I’m coming from the Z6 and have pre ordered a Z6 II BUT, I just don’t get why 4K 60 needs a crop on the Z6 II
@@HamerReviews I presume it’s a limitation in the current sensor. We may have to wait for Sony to release an updated sensor capable of faster speeds.
I am only speculating on this though, so take what I say with a grain of salt.
@Kafala it looks like it, yeah.
G S Yes, it‘s the sensor. It’s called IMX410. You can take a look at the spec sheet on Sony’s website as it is an off the shelve part. It can only do about 40hz in fullframe mode, hence the crop
Would you suggest the Nikon z 7ii or the Canon R 6 for wildlife and architectural landscape photography?
Will the Z6 Mk I be getting any further firmware updates?
Nikon. When can I use my Z6ii tethered with LR ? Currently not compatible .....
So Kai is the eye auto focusing and auto focusing in general better than the z6? Is it even close to the Sony A7 3 ? Please tell us the suspense is killing me! I’m a wedding photographer and I already have the z6 it’s great but I need the dual memory card slots and a touch better focusing! Cheers

The XQD slot is actually CFexpress with backward compatibility for XQD
I have a question, can you help me

Will z6 2´s eye-AF and IBIS feature benifit. Is it a good choice to move from d850 to z6 2 or should i continue with d850 for some more time.
Anyone one knows what camera Kai uses as main recorder ? So much wobbling ! 😶
Can you please do a comparison of auto focus?
if you ever read this. Still stuck back in time with the Nikon d750 and it seems like it's time to upgrade, do you have any comparison videos of mirrorless Nikon vs other brands and DSLR vs Mirrorless (P.S. I saw your d780 review, it's great. but I'm wondering if mirrorless is the way to go in)
I am using a D810, is it worth switching to mirrorless if I only use the lens converter and my current non-z lenses? Feedback from anyone reading this would be greatly appreciated.

Great review Kai. You did some seriously good eye detection testing. I think this type of more “professional” and a lot less nonsense is what you need to do more. Some nonsense is OK but sometimes you go overboard.
I think that this is reflected in the high number of thumbs ups. Well done on this one.
I’m thinking about purchasing the Z7II I already have the D850 and D810. Will my Tamron 35 1.4 G2, and my Tamron 24-70 G2 and my Tamron 70-200 G2 be compatible with the Z7II. Thanks 🙏🏾🙏🏾

But how is the grip supposed to connect to the camera if is still the same at the bottom????
The screen doesn’t flip to the side , just tilt?
So will it do 4k60 10 bit external?

Please tell me what camera and lens was used to shoot this review?
New eye focus is quite good !!!!!!!!!!! The camera seems ok except the price (for both camera & lens). Since you can hardly travel these days, so better wait for the price drop (6-9 months later) then. Meanwhile, best to check for more review on YT.

Is there any thing but Lr to process Z7 RAW files?
Make a comparison between nikon z6 ii vs sony a7 iii
The only problem I have with the Z6 (vs my d750) is focusing with backlight. I am shooting weddings and I am always shooting backlit sunsets or shooting the party with the lights directly in the camera. I feel like crying with the Z6 focusing sistem. Can somebody make a test like this with the Z 6II ? Even my d90 will focus perfect in good conditions.
Great video as always. I can't decide between the D780 or going to the Z6 ii. Is there any noticeable difference in AF performance when using Live View on the D780 as opposed to the new Z6 ii?
Just curious, assuming they were identical, can you really see yourself holding a DSLR out in front of you like a mobile phone?
If you used a Z6, or any decent mirrorless camera, for a week, I doubt you'd want to go back. Seeing the image in the EVF, the histogram, the full data you don't get in an OVF is something you can't give up once you've had it.
Mirrorless cameras are so customisable that you can access more settings from the body (as distinct from going to menus) than you can on a DSLR and more easily. You can also see the subject in much lower light.
This comment is hilariously ironic, you’re literally the type of customer Nikon is trying to win over lol.
I love my Z6, thinking of getting a dslr instead is out of the question.
Yes, you're right but I like having an optical viewfinder.
@@majorgify I thought I did too, but after using the Z6 for a day or so I got used to it, and it has its perks. Seeing the exposure in the viewfinder is great, as is the digital zoom and focus peaking for manual focus lenses. The EVF is nicer to look through than some others out there.
Not interested in most of the gear he's showing. But I just watch him with joy for some reason 😄 and always love it when it's something I really thinking about buying.
Great videos!
@Kai W: What camera was this video filmed with?
very hungry and waiting for Nikon Z9 😅
Love my z7
How much of an upgrade would it be to either one of these cameras coming from D750?
Huge. I went from the d850 to the Sony a7iii and it was a massive leap. Eye af is a total game changer for a start... A lot depends on what you shoot. If it's all landscapes, maybe not a big leap for you.
if Nikon had just made this they would likely be the leading on the market for long time...
Nikon Z6 II

@@swaygfx canon r6 does not have 4k120 nor does the a7iii which are canon and sony's offerings. z6ii is 500$ cheaper than the r6 and pretty much does the same thing. I don't see what the criticism here is. Also R6 overheats with 4k in some time. Nothing of the sort with the z6 or the z6ii. So the z6 ii is better for videographers. Whats the point of having a 4k camera which you can't keep continously on.
@@Smashingdon just to future proof the camera because they aren't refreshing often. The d850 has 4k 30 ..few years went they just doing 4k 60. Should've just added 4k 120 as a super seller seeing they don't drop as often
@@swaygfx Since they have the plan to release the z9 next year which will have 8K and 4k120, I think that should suffice for now. 4k120 would have been good, but you also have to cater to the demand, people need more reliable AF and tracking rather than 4k120, The number of people who would want 4k120 would be lesser, and it would just be a bragging point.
I currently have the D810 and am looking for better video quality and to be able to use my f mount lenses so the Z7II with ZTF adapter seems like my best option :)

Mirrorless is the future for a reason, it’s dope.
Go Z because of the Z glass, you will know when you see, thank me later. Good shooting
Went from a D7000 to a Z6 two years ago. It's game changing. Still get a smile on my face every time I upload photos and video for processing. It's raised the ceiling on my creative potential and I don't say that lightly.
Are the Z series good enough for fast moving wildlife though?
Z6 autofocus has been massively slammed in reviews.
Disputing between D500, D850, Z6ii, Z7ii.
I was surprised when I saw the release price for US and UK at the beginning but in Austria and Germany (at the moment) the price for a Z6II is absolutely ridiculous!
2700-2800 € with the 24-70 F4.
The Z6 + 24-70 was 1700-1800 € in summer.
That's about what the Z6 + 24-70 f/4 combo retailed for in Germany at launch too IIRC. When the Z6 ii has been out for nearly two years it'll be discounted as well :)

That’s Daft Punk right there👀
Damn the 70-200 is sharrrrpp
Why is there a DX crop in 4k/60 in the Z6 II but not the Z7 II ?
It‘s probably due to the sensor. The Sony IMX410 sensor in the Z6(ii) and Sony A7iii has really crappy readout speeds at full width.

Just ordered mine! Coming from D750 with a set of primes. Feels like the time is right as I fit as I’m basically exactly what they’re aiming for: hybrid still and video shooter with little compromise on either end.
