It's a trick, she lures you in and tricks you with her sweetness and makes you feel like you have to stay on her side to keep getting the good treatment.

Yeah Jaquel Spivey sounds amazing there. And he and Auli'i sound so great together, they have great chemistry. Too bad the instrumentals are so weak compared to the original, and the song only makes sense when Cady sings it bc of her jungle based background. They kind of ruined it in the movie.
Aside from those singing/narrating, I love how Regina is the only one who isn't acting like a stereotypical animal. even Karen and Gretchen are part of the other students by acting like birds/cats while Regina is just "normal." Aside from that one time she roars she isn't seen acting like anyone else.

@@Jess-yo9rt I read an interview with the costuming department and they didn't want to model their costumes after the first movie because they felt like they were too sexualized in the first movie....yet the "Sexy" sequence is more sexualized than anything in the first film, make it make sense.

I forget the name of the actress playing Cady, but I absolutely loved her in Honor Society, but here she kinda looks like a young Allison Pill who you may remember from Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen...... haven't seen the movie yet, but her casting is enough to get me interested
And she's not pretty enough to *actually be a threat to Regina George* either. I'm sorry, but they needed to pick a better Cady.

@@FirstnameLastnamesI thought I was the only one lol. Not hate to the actress she’s gorgeous but I think her look is very soft and innocent and not threatening enough. When I first watched the movie I thought she was just played up as very sweet looking in the beginning just like the original and later she would break her shell but they never did.

It’s interesting that Regina is the only one who doesn’t act like an animal, only roaring once. I don’t know if that was intentional or not, but it’s a pretty clever way of showing how Regina is an apex predator, by showing her as the calm, collected and intelligent predator who doesn’t act with force unless necessary. Because what animal is the most intelligent predator in the world? What animal can talk, carry a gun, and strategize more than any other animal? Humans.
I agree with your comment but the "carry a gun" part was so unexpected all I can do is imagine a chimp or a crow or something packing heat 😆

This was my favourite song in the whole movie. Janice and Damien have AMAZING voice, the high-school kids animal choreo, Regina strutting around being the leader of the pride and Reneé's "get in loser" and "come here" finger gesture which inspired a whole new generation of gays! Masterpiece!!!

I know people aren’t a fan of Damien taking cadey’s lines but he sounds AMAZING. 2:13 is SUCH EAR CANDY. Honestly those harmonies are just unbelievably good. Putting aside plot points, I actually love this version much better than the musical
I kid you not, I had a fit when I heard him take Cady's lines and then I grew to love it. It's like having another point of view with the storytelling.

The movies composition and acting is pretty great! The only issue I had was the soundtrack. It kinda felt like it gutted the original soundtrack and got rid of the musical theatre elements and turned it all into pop. It was just a bit disappointing to a lot of theatre kids and existing mean girls musical fans.
Yep. It felt like the movie was having an identity crisis.
It's good though, dont get me wrong I watched the theaters too but listening to them on a new genre is just refreshing.
Also it would be boring if they still bring up theater genre to film.

I always found the musicality vs the lyrics of this musical pretty lackluster. Some of the best changes made the soundtrack a bit more exciting, like this. It gives it more of an edge.

In the broadway version, the best part is when Janice sings "She doesn't know yet" to mean that Cady doesn't know what she's getting herself into, and Cady repeating "She doesn't know yet" to mean the opposite, and that Regina doesn't know what she's getting HERSELF into with inviting Cady into the Plastics. The duet made so much more sense than this.

This was my favourite song from the stage production and what I was most looking forwards to in the movie. I absolutely love the changes they made for the movie. It feels natural to have these two singing it to Cady.
Yesss I loved both versions but I wonder if they would've had Janis and Damien sing it if Cady was a stronger singer in the movie version. (I kinda feel like it makes sense since they're catching her up to speed about who Regina is in a "language" Cady would understand)

Absolutely LOVE this song and arrangement! Does anyone else feel that making this a duet between Janis and Damian vs. Janis and Cady like in the stage musical strips a bit of Cady's character, though? Maybe "strips" isn't the right term since what I'm talking about was added in the stage musical but in that version, this song takes place at the mall and makes it clear that Cady understands who Regina is and is natively making the decision that if it ever came down to it she'd choose Regina over Janis. I loved that change since it not only foreshadows her character arc but also shows she knows what she's getting into but thinks she can handle it, making Regina's betrayal at the Halloween party that much worse. The sense I get from the new movie is Cady is kinda going with the flow and treating Janis and Damien like they're exaggerating who Regina is because Janis and Regina have history. But I've also only seen clips of the new movie, not the full film, so I could be missing context that shows the changes to Cady's character from the stage musical were kept in the new movie.
No you're totally right. I haven't seen the musical version so I had no idea until reading these comments that this was mainly a Cady song originally. The movie definitely takes away from Cady's autonomy and treats her more like Janis' puppet than the original movie where you watch Cady strategically turn into a mean girl
People act like the entire thing was a flop, but I think the majority of the casting was great. Unfortunately, part of what makes it come off as so bad is 1. They didn't make it super obvious it was a musical in the trailers so many people came in expecting something different 2. A few of the casting choices for EXTREMELY IMPORTANT characters was off. If you have to CHANGE THE SONG because your actor can't reach those notes or sing in that style or your actor refuses to sing in your MUSICAL movie--you cast the wrong people.
They had them sing Cady's part because this girl cannot sing to save her life
