This was my favorite part of the movie. They nailed the whole Halloween party. Clever to show Karen in more than one Halloween costume, fresh arrangements that leave space for the stage version to be its own thing, not having the whole song take place in one location (maybe obvious that was going to happen since it's film but you know), adding in the "Duh" at the end, from the original movie line, having the Cady and Gretchen exchange placed where it is in the song, and all of the ensemble or featured extras in the scene, cool choreo, casting Avantika as Karen, and just everything. I was sooo happy in the theater!

It's got to be edited in some way because Sexy Eleanor Roosevelt is in the dance sequence but then she's in the kitchen when Karen walks in two seconds later.
She was one of the best parts of the film. I also think that presenting this scene through phone screens was a clever modern touch.

Honestly, I liked her acting the best. Yeah, Karen is dumb, but Avantika also showed us a girl who was simply trying her best.
This is more than I can say for Renee Rapp or Angourie Rice's acting.

People do realize that this song is supposed to be ironic, right? It's not encouraging young women to base their worth on their appearance, it's quite the opposite.
Some of you are taking the 'modern feminism ' line way too seriously.
It's actually pretty feminist to relinquish the notion of "feminine vices." Society loves shitting on every harmless interest teenage girls have (makeup, boybands, twilight, etc), and this take on the song encourages reveling in that harmless girlyness.

It really isnt even a satire if you take away the goofy costume choices, the goofy costumes are just the vessel for showing that you can be whatever tf you want AND also be sexy if that's what you want. You can be a doctor, a lawyer, a politician, or a civil rights activist while not giving up the things that make you look/feel cute/pretty/sexy just to be taken seriously. You can run the world in ridiculously high heels if you want to and it doesn't take away from your abilities to do the job.

#1 Makeup. Makeup is a 2.3 billion dollar industry that takes money almost exclusively from women, and gives it, in large majority to a few extremely wealthy men. Women use it to compete in a red queen's race against one another for the attention of men.
#2 Boybands. Boybands are propaganda made by those same wealthy men, presenting an image of a perfect male that no real male could ever stand up to. It is the thing that girls are trying to get when they put on the makeup, but will never achieve because that idealized man does not exist. A boyband member who is beautiful and loves you unconditionally and would never cheat lie or rape is worth makeup. Real men are not.
#3 Twilight. WHAT. This was a story where the girl's love interest stalks her, wants very much to bite her and drink her blood, is hundreds of years older than her (A TEENAGER), and does stuff like just dump her in the woods because she got a papercut. It is a peak example of old women with poor survival instincts writing danger porn that impressionable teenagers get conditioned on and then seek out terrible men in real life because of.

Plus she's wearing bunny ears which I think is a reference to Regina's original costume in the movie where she's dressed like a sexy rabbit (or playboy bunny), but in this one Regina dresses like a sexy angel- a contrast to her devilish plan to kiss Aaron in order to hurt and humble Cady.
