The inhabitants of Manshiyat Nasser, mostly Coptic Christians, have filled this gap for the past 70 years. These informal garbage collectors, called the Zabbaleen or “Garbage people,“ collect the garbage of Cairo’s residents in a door-to-door service for a small fee and then transport it via donkey carts or pick-up trucks to their homes in Manshiyat Nasser. Once home, they sort the garbage for recyclable material. The collecting of the trash is traditionally the men’s work, while women and children sort the garbage.

Those people deserve your respect and compassion, not your mockery. They are doing something good. Being poor is not synonym with being bad. The way you treat those less fortunate than you shows who you really are.
I went to the same place a month after you and right now I'm editing my video, I think you just need to interact more and better with the locals otherwise you look disrespectful, maybe don't point the camera at theirs faces and say something fast in english because they don't know the language. Even your comments during the video like "there's a kid in the middle, this is crazy" sounds bad. I had the same experience talking to people filming with an Iphone 11 in my hand. The wast majority of the garbage collectors and recycling ♻️ business are maintained by Copt orthodox, not because they are Christians, but believe it or not, they are super friendly and have as all egyptians hughe sense for hospitality. I have been there a couple of times to visit the cave church, or better known as the SIMON MONASTERY, a must see that very little tourist know. Once you made your path (by car) through the garbage city, you will be blown away by this as I would love to call it the eight wonder.
