  • In this video I will show you how to remove and / or replace your steering wheel on your 2015-2020 Ford F-150 or your 2017-up F-250 and F-350 Super Duty truck. It is rather easy and no special tools are needed. In my case, I was replacing a worn out vinyl wheel with a leather wrapped OEM wheel. The part number of the wheel I used is FL3Z-3600-DA and can be purchased at any Ford dealer or online for way less money.

Thank you for this video. I changed my clock-spring on my 2019 F-250XLT using this. Much appreciated.

Do you know where can I get an airbag replacement? Thanks in advance

Great video, I have an XL F-150 that I want to upgrade to include cruise control and stereo controls. I was hoping I could replace the steering wheel and get those things programmed in. I would also consider upgrading windows and mirrors possibly. Is it just as easy as in your video?

Thank you for the detailed video, Jack. The bolt that holds the steering wheel on F150 is much easier to remove than the one in a Crown Vic (based on the videos that I watched). I think It will require a special tool to remove it. Have you ever done it?

I have the removed the steering wheel bolt in a Crown Vic and it is the same thing. It does not require a special tool. The airbag on a 2005up Crown Vic is much harder to remove because it is retained in 4 positions, unlike this F150 which is only retained with 2 retainers.

@@JackofAllMasterofNone i understood that in F-150 there were only 2 release holes, and there are 4 in Crown Vic, as you mentioned. I thought you’d also need a jaw puller to remove the wheel once the airbag and the bolt is off.

Any idea how to change the buttons? I’m upgrading from an XLT to a Platinum steering wheel, but my truck has normal cruise. The new one has the adaptive cruise buttons.

I believe you can unbolt the plastic parts and remove the switches and swap them out, but I have not done it on a 2015up truck personally

I wish once, just once something worked out easy as it appears. The only thing I could get in to push the clip, which is just piece of wire rod, was a coat hanger and of course that just slipped and slipped off the wire clip. How a allen wrench that was long enough, ever fit in there I'll never know.... The bolt on the other hand was on almost finger tight....?!?

That was the longest part for me. After I finally got it off I seen you have to line it up perfectly.

If you don’t have the volume and sync controls and you do the steering wheel swap with a steering wheel that has the volume and sink controls I seen in four scan you can enable the volume and sync controls. Is that the right way or is it not even possible?

You should always disconnect the battery and wait a period of time before working with an airbag

I have this issue with my 2018 For F150 and the dealer is acting like this is something they can not figure out and they may need to take the steering wheel apart etc. I left it in the morning and called at 4pm and they 'haven't figured it out'- shouldn't they be able to figure this out as quickly as you seem to have? I see a bill for big bucks coming!!!!
