മർക്കൊസ് 3; 31-35 അനന്തരം അവന്റെ അമ്മയും സഹോദരന്മാരും വന്നു പുറത്തു നിന്നു അവനെ വിളപ്പാൻ ആളയച്ചു. പുരുഷാരം അവന്റെ ചുറ്റും ഇരുന്നിരുന്നു; അവർ അവനോടു: നിന്റെ അമ്മയും സഹോദരന്മാരും പുറത്തു നിന്നു നിന്നെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവൻ അവരോടു: “എന്റെ അമ്മയും സഹോദരന്മാരും ആർ ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞിട്ടു ചുറ്റിലും ഇരിക്കുന്നവരെ നോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടു: “എന്റെ അമ്മയും സഹോദരന്മാരും ഇതാ. ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ഇഷ്ടം ചെയ്യുന്നവൻ തന്നേ എന്റെ സഹോദരനും സഹോദരിയും അമ്മയും ആകുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. മർക്കൊസ് 6; 2-4 ശബ്ബത്തായപ്പോൾ അവൻ പള്ളിയിൽ ഉപദേശിച്ചുതുടങ്ങി; പലരും കേട്ടു വിസ്മയിച്ചു: ഇവന്നു ഇവ എവിടെനിന്നു? ഇവന്നു കിട്ടിയ ഈ ജ്ഞാനവും ഇവന്റെ കയ്യാൽ നടക്കുന്ന വീര്യപ്രവൃത്തികളും എന്തു? ഇവൻ മറിയയുടെ മകനും യാക്കോബ് യോസെ, യൂദാ, ശിമോൻ എന്നവരുടെ സഹോദരനുമായ തച്ചനല്ലയോ? ഇവന്റെ സഹോദരികളും ഇവിടെ നമ്മോടു കൂടെ ഇല്ലയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവങ്കൽ ഇടറിപ്പോയി ലൂക്കോസ്8; 19-21 അവന്റെ അമ്മയും സഹോദരന്മാരും അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു, പുരുഷാരം നിമിത്തം അവനോടു അടുപ്പാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല. നിന്റെ അമ്മയും സഹോദരന്മാരും നിന്നെ കാണ്മാൻ ഇച്ഛിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു പുറത്തു നില്ക്കുന്നു എന്നു ചിലർ അവനോടു അറിയിച്ചു. അവരോടു അവൻ: “എന്റെ അമ്മയും സഹോദരന്മാരും ദൈവ വചനം കേട്ടു ചെയ്യുന്നവരത്രേ” എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു. യോഹന്നാൻ 7;2-5 എന്നാൽ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ കൂടാരപ്പെരുനാൾ അടുത്തിരുന്നു. അവന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാർ അവനോടു: നീ ചെയ്യുന്ന പ്രവൃത്തികളെ നിന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരും കാണേണ്ടതിന്നു ഇവിടം വിട്ടു യെഹൂദ്യയിലേക്കു പോക. പ്രസിദ്ധൻ ആകുവാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവൻ ആരും രഹസ്യത്തിൽ ഒന്നും ചെയ്യുന്നില്ലല്ലോ; നീ ഇതു ചെയ്യുന്നു എങ്കിൽ ലോകത്തിന്നു നിന്നെത്തന്നേ വെളിപ്പെടുത്തുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരും അവനിൽ വിശ്വസിച്ചില്ല. പ്രവൃത്തികൾ 1;13-14 അവിടെ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ അവർ പാർത്ത മാളികമുറിയിൽ കയറിപ്പോയി, പത്രൊസ്, യോഹന്നാൻ, യാക്കോബ്, അന്ത്രെയാസ്, ഫിലിപ്പൊസ്, തോമസ്, ബർത്തൊലൊമായി, മത്തായി, അൽഫായുടെ മകനായ യക്കോബ്, എരിവുകരനായ ശിമോൻ, യാക്കോബിന്റെ മകനായ യൂദാ ഇവർ എല്ലാവരും സ്ത്രീകളോടും യേശുവിന്റെ അമ്മയായ മറിയയോടും അവന്റേ സഹോദരന്മാരോടും കൂടെ ഒരുമനപ്പെട്ടു പ്രാർത്ഥന കഴിച്ചു പോന്നു. ഗലാത്യർ 1; 18-20 മൂവാണ്ടു കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു കേഫാവുമായി മുഖപരിചയമാകേണ്ടതിന്നു യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു പോയി പതിനഞ്ചുദിവസം അവനോടുകടെ പാർത്തു. എന്നാൽ കർത്താവിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ യാക്കോബിനെ അല്ലാതെ അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരിൽ വേറൊരുത്തനെയും കണ്ടില്ല. ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു എഴുതുന്നതു ഭോഷ്കല്ല എന്നതിന്നു ദൈവം സാക്ഷി.

The reality is that, at the point of death, one’s eternal destiny is confirmed. The Bible nowhere instructs believers in Christ to pray to anyone other than God. The Bible nowhere encourages, or even mentions, believers asking individuals in heaven for their prayers. Why, then, do many Catholics pray to Mary and/or saints such as Gertrude, Rita, Sylvester, Vincent, Agnes, etc.? Why do they petition the dead to request their prayers? No saint can take Jesus’ place: “There is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (1 Timothy 2:5). There is no one else who can mediate with God for us. Since Jesus is the only mediator, Mary and the saints cannot be mediators. Further, the Bible tells us that Jesus Christ Himself is interceding for us before the Father: “He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them” (Hebrews 7:25). With Jesus Himself interceding for us, why would we need Mary or the saints to intercede for us? Whom would God listen to more readily than His only begotten Son? It is undeniable that pagan ideas and practices have crept their way into the Christian church. To varying degrees, every church has practices that are not completely based in Scripture, either in the practice itself or in the understanding of the practice. But again, this does not mean these practices are pagan or wrong.
