Just what I've been looking for, thanks
Youâre welcome!
They sent us a door as well! Love the video you made on this you do a great job editing and explaining. Keep up the good work
Nice! Itâs a cool door for sure! Thanks, I appreciate that!
We just set up ours yesterday and so far we love it and we can finally sleep in đđđŒ we ended up stapling our fence to our coop to avoid that gap between the run
Nice! It really does help so much, I love this thing!
If you extend the door on a larger frame coming out of the coop, then attach the caging behind to the building itself. Just enlarge the framing of wood inside to allow something to attach the wiring to. So make a picture frame shape đŒïž around the opening for inside and out, screw them together (with the shed âframedâ or sandwiched between the two frames then attach the hardware wire to the frame.
Hey neighbor. FYI made a coop out of a shed like you did. Had bought another automatic door but didn't work right so I'll try this one. Thanks
Thatâs awesome! How are you liking your build?!
We like this one, itâs worked well for us!
Thanks for this. If I could afford an automatic door, this one seems like it would be perfect. I'll keep it in mind.
I was the same way, I wanted one but I wasnât ready to drop the money for one đ. I hope one day youâre able to, so far I love it!
Excellent review. Thanks.
Thank you, I appreciate you watching it!
Excellent.. Going to check this one out...đ
Iâm definitely Glad I did!
@@WhitepepperFarmshomestead where are you located
I guess on days when freeze have a manual one for rare occasions
Northern Utah
Hello there and thanks for such a great video. My door was working for one day and it now says that it is locked open because it detected a crush. I have tried cleaning the tracks then pressing down to clear it. How do I power off?
Itâs hard to say without being right in front of my door, but I know there is a way to manually close it and reset the fault! We are currently on vacation so Iâm unable to go look, but heaven forbid if itâs still happening when I get back I can run out to our door and find out exactly how to clear that! We get back on the 7th!
Thanks for this review. I've been looking at this door but I worry that a predator could get claws into that seam and pry it open. Do the doors lock in place once closed?
I donât think they do! Give me a day or so, Iâll run out there and see how difficult it is to pry open đ
What do you have the light setting set at for the open setting
I have a question for yâall I am totally new just got chicks still in the brooder my question is how did you teach your chickens to go into the coop with a automatic door if it closes with some out . How will you know ?
Chickens naturally go into the coop as it gets dark out! I was a little worried about it so I have been going outside every night to check on them since putting the door up.. just in case đ. With this door itâs nice because I was able to set the light I wanted it to close.. and then I was able to set a delay on it. So it gets dark and then waits I think 15 minutes before closing.. just in case!
Hey. Did you check if you can open it by hand? I'm also concerned about a raccoon or other predator opening it. This door would be facing my enclosed run, but I like to be extra conscious!
Ours is in an enclosed run too so I feel you đ! Sorry I didnât get back to you! It got crazy around here! I just ran out there and tried it out. Technically I can open it, but I will say that it is rather difficult. You really have to pull the two sides apart not by getting your fingers into it but by pushing on it really hard, and then it takes a good amount of force to pull it open. I donât want to say that I guarantee something couldnât get in just in the off chance something did, but I know Iâm not worried about the raccoons and skunks we have here!
I hope this wasnât too vague and helps a little đ
Is there a tone or anything to notify the chickens that the door is closing? How do you train them to get inside before it closes?
There is not. Chickens naturally go inside the coop as the sun goes down. With ours we set the door to close once itâs dark so as the seasons change we donât have to change the time that it closes. Once it starts getting dark they all go inside, then once itâs fully dark the door closes behind them!

Thatâs pretty neat.
Right?! Iâm loving this thing!
Did you purchase this from their website? It's hard to find anything about this company online except for their own sites. I'd like to hear from someone who has actually purchased it with money and gotten it. Thanks!
They sent me the door, so I did not pay for it through the website! The doors were just released in the last couple of weeks, so if you hold off for a few weeks you should start to see more stuff popping up!
@@WhitepepperFarmshomestead Thank you! I also have one that they sent. It looks like great quality.
So far I seriously love it! I have enjoyed working with the company, and I definitely wish them the best. They have a great product, so I hope they get traction! Are you doing a video on yours? If so Iâll head over and watch it when itâs up!
@@WhitepepperFarmshomestead I would love it if I got it free too.
I really like the options with this door. But i canât seem to find dimensions of it. They only seem to make the one size. Could you possibly tell me the size of the door. Iâd like to get bigger birds eventually, like Brahmaâs. But will they fit through?
I definitely threw away the instructions, give me a second and Iâll do some digging!
8.5âx10.4â is the opening! Are those the dimensions you are looking for?
@@WhitepepperFarmshomestead yep, great thanks. đ
Youâre welcome!
how is the locking mechanism. if a smart predator tries to pry it open does it have any resistance?
I tried to open it the other day and it was pretty difficult to get my fingers in there enough to pry it apart, and once I did there was a fair amount of pressure there holding it closed. If something real smart got their hands in there they would REALLY have to pry it open. I would say the chances are slim, but I donât want to say impossible. Hope this helps!
thanks. i looked at your video to build my nonAutomatic door and i liked this one since i did get an automatic one but there are issues with the rails and track working consistently. thanks again as ill look to purchase this one. the only flaw i see is that the opening seems a bit small. wish they have a bigger options.
We have a Jersey giant that fits through well! But I donât blame you, I feel the same way with most doors, I wish they were just a little bit bigger! Good luck with whatever you end up going with!
Are these guys selling in Europe?? Thank you friend!
According to the website they do, and it takes 6-10 days to ship it there! Youâre welcome, and thank you for watching!
I just purchased one. Howâs it holding up for you?
So the original model I had had some slight issues but nothing too crazy. Since then Iâve gotten the new version (the one you bought) and we havenât had any issues at all! They made some changes to battery life and the size of slot on the bottom that really just stepped this door up, we love it!
@@WhitepepperFarmshomestead Have you tried it on the time setting? Iâm finding that once I set it, it always lags behind by a few minutes, and Iâm not sure why. Also, I set up the time before I installed it, but now that itâs installed, it just says âcalibratingâ and is no longer letting me do anything.
I just got one and I wonder how it is your holding after two months
We donât have power run to ours so we have had to change the batteries once, and there has been two times so far that we got something stuck in the track. Other than that itâs been good!
@@WhitepepperFarmshomesteadFour batteries in 2 months is a lot to power consumption. Thank you for answering, great videos.
It wasnât too bad, especially with the cold we have here.
No problem, I appreciate you watching!
I canât get the coupon code to work đą
Well that isn't good! I am at work right now so I can't look into it, but I sure can later!
Hey. I think this coop door is NOT able to protect our chicken from predaters. I have test many coop doors, but this one the most insecure from all!
Kind regards from Germany âșïž
It could freeze in winter
If itâs mounted somewhere it was getting wet I could maybe see it! Itâs possible to mount these inside the coop and set it to time mode, that would solve the issue!
Yes, another consideration is I think you would need to have it tied into power versus relying only on the batteries if you have a winter climate where you are... because your batteries are likely to drain faster in the cold..
This is something I thought of too. If you come back here in 6 months and ask me how my batteries last in 0 degree F weather I will definitely let you guys know đ
Are you finding it has trouble working in colder temps?
So far we have gotten down to roughly 20 Fahrenheit. I will say Iâve noticed the motor is a bit slower in colder weather, but still opens and closes without issue!
It's made in China so it would take a month to get to me, and it's just as expensive as the high priced ones I've been looking at :( I was hoping it was better priced for poor chicken people lol
Are you still happy with this door?
I am! With the original one we ran into a battery issue and contacted the company about it, they had updated the door since I had gotten mine and they send a replacement out for me and since then we have had no issues at all!
Could you see how strong it is, if you were to mount it on the inside, as far as something pressing from the opposite side, does that make since?
made in China
Piece of crap, don't buy! The smallest of shavings will prevent the door from opening or closing. Now that we are getting snow, that blocks it too. Save your money and buy something else.
An update. They sent me a new improved unit and so far it works great!
I was literally thinking about your original comment the other day. Can you tell me the difference with the new one? Maybe I can get my hands on one and update the video.
@@WhitepepperFarmshomestead wider door tracks. I waited to post anything to see if the upgrade worked and it did.
I really appreciate you taking the time to come back and let me know! Iâm going to contact the company and see about getting my hands on one just to see the difference and make sure everyone has up to date information!
