An englishmans home is his castle. George was blessed with the opportunity, foresight and ability to buy and restore the place to its former glory. Thankyou George for helping to preserve a part of our english heritage. This nation owes you a debt.

George was blessed with (being financially equivalent to billionaire today) when he bought this home in the 1960s. I think most people with that type of money (who didn’t inherited) (i.e. not spoiled Nepo baby) would have the foresight and intelligence, knowledge, (& Mega Money & many servants) to restore a place like this.

John Lennon bought Tittenhurst Park and George wanted something like it. From a tax point of view your home is a great investment as any increase in its value is non taxable in UK. So buy a run down home and then repair/improve. Patti Boyd found Friar Park and it was an amazing investment at approx £145,000, it was very run down and needed a wealthy man to bring it back to former glory. Well, house prices soared and George fell in love with Friar Park and it became his private world and an amazing sanctuary. He housed and employed family and friends and slowly Friar Park was rejuvenated. Hopefully in time the public will be able to view the incredible gardens and detail of the Park. There are videos about Friar Park but they only give a glimpse of what it’s like

George also built a huge, exotic mansion in Hawaii and was then sued by his neighbors because he sealed off the beach for himself. He was also the only Beatle to be successfully sued for plagiarism, having stolen The Chiffon’s hit single “He’s So Fine” to make his “My Sweet Lord”. John lived in one of the costliest apartments in NY, Paul had a farm in Scotland but a very nice home in London. George lived way above his means. It costs a staggering fortune to keep a place like this up. He didn't have the kind of money John and Paul had with their song writing credits. He seems a bit like one of these lottery winners who blows all their money on extravagance and ends up broke again.

@@paulascott5701 And yet, George left his wife and son over $100 million when he passed away in 2001. That is probably $200 million in todays money. George Harrison was super rich when he passed away. George got Friar Park very cheap when he bought the property in the early 1970`s. It was much more than he payed, so it was an fantastic real estate investment for George. I`m sure the value of Friar Park today is way above $150 million. I think George only payed $200 000 when he bought the estate in 1970. George Harrison`s estate also receives millions in royalties from the Beatles each year. That was also the case when George was alive. The Beatles sold more than 1 million records each year after the split, and that secured each of the Beatles a lot of revenue. George had a very successful solo career too. He sold 50 million records as a solo artist. Money was not an issue for George Harrison.

I can only imagine the amount of trouble that goes into maintaining this white elephant of stones!!! This George Harrison was unbalanced...well...there were drugs...heroin...LSD...cocaine...alcohol...marijuana etc that had a lot of effect

A total antithesis to 'living in harmony with Nature'. No wildlife, except perhaps a few birds and squirrels, which can be found in any inner city park.
A testament to what kind of an effect we humans have on the natural environment, and to me a stark contrast to his song "My Sweet Lord . . . I really want to know you".
