Mr. Giamatti is always an interesting and entertaining guest when interviewed by Colbert. Whenever I hear he's involved in a project I am always attracted towards it because of the body of work he has performed and is now producing. Yes, he's had some misfires but even in those, there's something about the way he performs. I could watch an interview as entertaining as this for hours. You know Colbert and his staff must really enjoy having him on.
Ohh I’ve picked up on that especially since the 2nd appearance when Paul & Stephen bonded over sci-fi novels. Two funny nerds who love life and that makes this 35 year old nerd very happy. My wife thankfully says I’m not a nerd. ☺️☺️☺️

He's a good actor. I like his comedic roles in Big Momma's house, Big Fat Liar, Sideways and Fred Claus. He was also good in Cinderella Man, Lady in the water, Saving Mr. Banks, Straight Outta Compton. He was great in John Adams.
Paul in Lady In The Water was utterly superb. That moment near the end was nothing but surreal excellence. What I’d really like to see him do now is a mob boss.

If you;ve never seen the BDE Paul Giamatti in my three favorites: As Chief Inspector Uhl in The Illusionist... Ralph, P.L.Travers' chauffeur in Saving Mr. Banks and John Adams in HBO's miniseries John Adams... Hey there, you gotta watch them... he is outstanding!
Especially his performance as CI Uhl, that was unbelievable. Just his voice even, so different than his other roles.

Oh Paul. I love seeing stuff they did when they were first coming up. There's a FMV video game from the 90's called "The Ripper" that actually had a good cast with him in it in a small part, and it includes Christopher Walken. It was one of Paul's first gigs. It's unintentionally hilarious. I recommend watching the Gaming Garbage / Retsupurae video of the series where they constantly riff over the cuts scenes. It's golden.
I love that he slipped into the John Adams voice while impersonation the lawyer.

Growing up this actor has been in almost every movie or tv show i watched i swear
I met his esteemed father at Yale many years ago. He was a singular man.
His father wrote a book of beautiful essays about the sport of baseball which is one of my favorite books.
Bart Giamatti was an esteemed professor at Yale who specialized in English and Italian Renaissance literature. He was appointed president of the university in 1978 and made the Commissioner of baseball in 1989. He died of a heart attack while in that post. I always wondered what he thought when Paul drank the wine spit bucket in Sideways - he probably laughed - I hope. Having big shot fathers is a challenge I am familiar with. Another great academic and baseball fan I was fortunate to meet was Steven Jay Gould who taught at Harvard and stuck with the Bosox through all those grim years - like so many of us.
