  • Hi there.
    This is just a quick review and water test on the newly released Trailcross GTX.
    These are using a Gore Tex membrane for keeping your feet dry out on the bike.
    Do they actually work, will they pass my super rigorous tests. Stay tuned and find out.

    What I'm asking myself though - what is gonna happen if water DOES get inside?
    I plan a bike trip which may require me wading through quite deep water (let's just assume knee deep) and I'm looking for the right kind of shoe. I don't expect any shoe to keep the feet dry in those conditions, but I heard the mid pros (without gore-tex) allow the water to get out quite fast. Will that happen with these too?

    Hi, have you found the boots to be waterproof when using them in normal wet conditions? My Dad and I have a pair each and had our first wet ride Saturday and we both got soaked feet. Ive read a few reviews of people saying their not waterproof so not sure if we’ve just been unlucky or lots of people are finding they aren’t actually waterproof. Thanks

      @trailsfromthedarkside6460  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi there Mickey.
      Yeah, so far they’ve been waterproof for me.
      As you may have saw in the video, l did submerge them for a good few minutes with no leaks.
      Forgive me if l sound patronizing, but did you get the GTX version and not just the mid pro, they look almost the same but one is defo not waterproof.
      If you do have the Goretex version, that sucks, they should be waterproof, maybe a faulty set, might be worth returning,
      Also if water is getting over the ankle sleeve or running down your legs, it’ll soak the inside as well. Just a thought.
      The main reason l bought these was because l didn’t want wet feet.
      Hope that helps. Thanks for watching and commenting.

      There's no Primaloft lining or similar but they're fully sealed other than the drains on the side of the sole. I think they'll work in winter conditions with a winter sock. Keeping dry is a big part of not getting cold feet. I rode my Trailcross Mid Pros in -1/-2 wet conditions with Sealskinz winter socks and my feet were OK until they got wet (which I hope won't happen with these)

If you want a hike version that can also bike maybe the Terrex GTX range might work. Conti sole rather than FiveTen so not as grippy on pedals but they don't have particularly aggressive lugs so they might work with pins.
