What about using a black and white adjustment layer and increase the luminance in the yellow and red channels? Guess that would work since this is a drawing. You can probably also do this in the levels by choosing the red and the yellow channel there. The histogram will tell you how much you need to lighten these up. Just a thought.
Great video! I'm curious to this drawing book. Do you still have it? Can you tell me more about it? This drawing depicts the "Koppelpoort" (translates to Couplegate) in the Dutch city of Amersfoort. If the drawing dates back to 1880 than it has to be from the restorer/architect Cuyper who restorated the Koppelpoort from 1883 to 1886. The battlements where added in that restoration. Or the drawing dates back to around 1886/1887 when the restoration was finished.

The brown spots are called foxing.
