That changing the coolant temperature sensor is rather simple, I did that on my 987.1 a few days ago The sensor is right behind the seats once you get the covers off. It’s a clip and it has an o-ring on mine. I believe 987.2’s are threaded.
@@zuhyrcp2763 honestly, with my cars just as long as they run good and shift smoothly I’m happy. Look for gaps in service history, and multiple owners. Mine ended up having an oil leak and a coolant leak near the water pump. Oil leak ended up being an oil pan gasket and the coolant leak was the coolant pipe assembly (there the coolant temp sensor is) thanks to the service history I was able to deduce that the leak, although it was near the pump, wasn’t actually coming from the pump, so it saved me a few hundred bucks. My car was repainted, due to a minor collision, which wasn’t on the carfax but was reported through the another website. My car was leased, so I had to clean up years of abuse. Overall it runs good now but I did have to clean it up a bit. Look for service records, and not too many owners.

If the seller/dealer doesnt agree to you having the car checked prior to purchasing, or returning the car if it has bore score/ims issues, dont buy that car, go for one where they let you check it properly
The temperature must have been high. Why would you keep driving? Probably could have got another 140k miles out of it Thats a $400 part, now your engine is gone.
Temperature was normal. Car ran fine which was insane, even took it on long road trips while it was running on 4 cylinders and it was fine. No mechanic could diagnise it, even porshce techs. Was a very unpredictable and unreliable car unfortunately even after thousands were spent maintaining it.@@fxlltxtsearch
@@500res I got a 987.2 S. No sign of bore scoring. Granted I live in tropical climate and the previous owner took good care of it. I was confused cause my dials are black. Prolly was changed
oh no, whats is the issue? Hope its just the coolant indicator? Tbf I had a 986 Boxster and that was great for 4 years, I did have some issues but nothing major. I bought a 996 911 last year, and its been great but I did have one majorly rare job to do which did hurt my pocket a bit, other than that, no issues to report :-)
@@mikefranky cheaper. It was the clutch bracket that became fatigued and meant the whole dashboard had to come out and have the bracket welded in again. Work was done at performance Porsche

yeah, engine ran fine, it wasnt only until 5-6k rpm that it would misfire, couldnt get it diagosed for the life of me. @@Shinkaaaa
