1:17 - Electronic voting is called i-voting
Apple: Wait, that's illegal
U mean i-legal
That should be Internet-Voting
Electric Votings are voting by Electronic Machines instead of Paper Ballots.
How about EVM, the way india is using it.
It has its own problems. If the machine causes technical problems which happen many times, then it's a waste of time for the people who came to vote until it gets fixed.
Its the same thing evms still need people to go to the booth for voting and we know what happens there and there is also a use of huge number of people to do things so a well maintained well protected server based e voting can be used as a alternative in India i think its my opinion
@@abirmukherjee5781 online usage has more disadvantages especially in a country like India.
EVM is more viable as it reduces time and there is a reason it was introduced in 1990s because of reason such as booth capture, election rigging etc.
To make it more secure they also attached VVPAT to let voters know whom they have voted
@@assgl7693 i said as a option there are many people who cannot vote just because they are in some other state and that number is huge online solves that problem with a proper infrastructure it is a viable option now may be a solution in some time in future.
@@abirmukherjee5781 I still feel it will create a loophole in the election process
Yes, online voting must be a thing.
if you want elction fraud to be 10000x easier than yea
@@Johnjohn-rt3sr
Estonia doesnt have election fraud
Vote by mail ? How about automatically registering all voters who are of age and sending ballots. Then set up a tracking system of ballots to ensure they were counted.
When we'll able to vote online, we could vote for everything. It would be another step towards a utter democracy. The government should propose new laws and the citizens would vote for those laws. The vote will be immediately collected. Is it pretty good, right? Maybe the blockchain could realize this.
I've been saying this for years. But they don't want to do it because it would completely invalidate the notion that we need elected representatives. They also don't want to do it because if everybody can vote from their phone and read the bills themselves then their job is worthless and moot. Also if you vote from your phone how are they going to cheat.
Imagine a rich candidate comes ask you to give your voters users ID and password. There is a reason why mobile phone and cameras are not allowed in voting , because rich candidate can manipulate by saying you will get money by giving videos of you voting for me .
Doesn't Estonia have online voting?
If i can pay my taxes online, bank online, access my medical records online then i should be able to vote online.
Imagine a rich candidate comes ask you to record while voting for him, get my point?
@@Papa-ur3ju OH YEAH, IF HE COULD MONITOR 11 THOUSAND PEOPLe i would applaud them....as if he got enough money to pay them hahahahaha.... OH wait :(
You are voting for your country's next leader and not a BuzzFeed poll.
Voting online cants solve problem where for example dad check and regulate how his 18+ old children and women are voting.
With blockchain you will have the possibility of also implement digital identity solutions, this is more the challenge then the proper system for voting
Specific electronic voting machines are better as there is no cyber risk
Valid and acceptable reference are provided , l loved the way you presented.
Voting online would be like opening a can of worms
Fun fact you can’t breath while smiling
Joking, just wanted to make you smile!😃
Thank you I did smile 😃
I can
I knew it was a bait, and i didn't smile.
Voting online is an obvious beautiful option that would make life on Earth a peaceful wonderful experience, but will never come to fruition because people in power love the greed of POWER too much. What person doesn't want more of everything & POWER is right up at the top of the list right next to MONEY.
this is the dumbest comment I have ever seen lmao, people in power (the majority of whom aren't actually in politics at all) won't lose that power because people can now vote online.
I came here to see an explanation on why we can't vote online, as the title says, and left with no answer. There's a more thorough video actually answering the question from Computerphile.
Will it be safe if they use face id to do it?
do you know that ai can manipulate faces
and make it different for 100 times
I don't even know why this question required a 6 min long video. 😂 Simple, hacking and connection issues are the reasons why
It's very naive to say that hacking is the only issue you could easily use oversight you could easily use a authentication process you could easily cover all your bases have in that confirmation code having an individual be able to print out a paper ballot if anything is in question as well. The biggest difference though is if you want online voting to actually be feasible it's better to actually have early voting count and have a confirmation number present
Nice video
All those safeguards on paper ballots out the window in 2020.
We will vote online soon using blockchain.
Think our absentee ballot method along side of inperson voting worked well, in fact better than last presidential elections when foreign actors interfered with out democracy.
going out to vote in person
can also show that the voter really cares about the issue.
Exactly keep in mind all those individuals that got in trouble for voting twice none of them voted online
That shouldn’t be the barrier to entry in a democracy.
05:03 Source: e-Estonia. So you're telling me, NOBODY thought of just "e-Stonia" ?
People can Hijack any online poll 😂, you want govts to be decided this way ? Absolute idiotic idea.
all votes can be released by releasing ssn and their selection so everyone can validate their own selection. There is no difference between voting fraud and count on paper vs counting online.
It is naive to think that online voting will always be hijacked if there's an authentication process such as making sure that individuals actually have to go on a site after have a printed copy with someone that they see via web camera to cover everything or it if they automatically have a confirmation number automatically have a PDF with their balance sent to them and a simple box in which someone can click on yes or no to confirm their results this also makes a big difference plus also having early voting counted ahead of time and maybe having an email to confirm where their ballot is or confirmed that they it shows online if there's a website to confirm their vote and how they voted during the election that would make a big difference it is possible it can flourish it is just downright idiotic and pessimistic to say that it's not feasible and that it's dust into fail the only thing is for it to succeed it cannot be done in a half-assed manner and needs logistic coordination it needs strategic investment and it needs to be structure correctly and possibly having some systematic changes to ensure that early votes are counted ahead of time
HACKERS.
Here I saved your 6mins...
This can easily be prevented with strategizing and oversight.
why can we purchase stuff online then? _my question to them hehhe thanks for that summary btw
you can publish your taxes online...BUT INFINITY FORBID YOU VOTE ONLINE THO.
Sad how one of the most technologically advanced countries can’t even implement electronic voting
It's simply a matter of how invested countries are how much is done to make systematic changes like actually counting early voting, implementing a due diligence process that also provides a paper ballot, and email confirmation of the ballot with a confirmation number and a website in which someone could simply go online and double check how they're ballad was counted
You can make a video on
Best hospital in us
yee
Well, just because.
It wasnt illegal in 2020
hello
Well just because.
Voting online should be possible with blockchain and biometrics
#blockchain
Voting online would make everything so convenient.
How many banks and stock markets are offline only to prevent hacking? I think it's also a lack of will by the top parties. Why change the system where you are amongst the most likely to win?
A due diligence thorough process that has oversight and strategic changes makes a big difference to voting and when it comes to online banking keep in mind that several entities influence how things are done and often what ends up becoming the biggest factor in that being in place is human error.
Really??? People are that that stupid they need this explained to them? Wow💯🤮👎🏽
Blockchain voting is new normal
India should also embrace online voting. This would allow our massive diaspora all over to world to participate in the world's largest democracy
India would not introduce i-voting because then all the educated people would vote and none of the major parties would win
India's educated morons claims that even EVM is hacked, how could they ever allow online voting.
Even if voting online was always secure and technical solutions would allow to preserve complete anonymity (while making sure you actually have the right to vote) , the complexity of the system becomes then way to high for average voter to understand, thus losing the legitimacy of voting system itself.
you guys complain about hackers, but we have been using internet for online purchases, and it still is because of Hackers 🤨
2 months later im back again at this video, asking my self again..... WHY? why isnt it possible, it just r3t4rded
Blockchain is the answer. It'll reduce queues, provide realtime results and be on a public Ledger
We have evm machine for voting
But Blockchain can easily do this.
Even if we had perfect unhackable system , imagine a rich candidate comes ask you for your to record while voting.
.
Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow

What
Meh video. If billions of dollars can be transacted online daily, a simple secure online poll should be easily viable.
we need to stop buying online, we are killing off local stores buying online, being lazy :(
lol. tell that to the family who lives in the middle of nowhere.
EOS.IO blockchain voting 2024
Cardano has a better approach for solving this

I don’t see the point why this video was made in the first place.. WE ALL KNOW THAT VULNERABILITY IS HIGHEST if voting is online
It is defeated and naive to automatically assume that voting by mail would fail first of all I've said this on several items if you have a due diligent process where there's multiple entities to do authentication like a live person seeing a web video to confirm ID if you also have an email confirmation with a confirmation number and it's showing a PDF of the actual ballot if you also are able to go online and verify their where your boats went if you're able to also have early voting count ahead of time then the process will make a big difference to automatically assume that it's going to fail is very very naive and illogical it can succeed if there's oversight and a strategic and systematic adjustment to make it work
@@rolandobaluja7504 Ummm not really. Equating voting online to the regular “secured” messages you receive online or regular access to a “secured” website is what’s naive imo. Voting decides the fate of a country and not an individual. This is isn’t your perfunctory web activity, and knowing this, the interest among interferring actors is highest during voting day.
The web is more vulnerable compared to physically securing the ballot from the district precint all the way to ballot count centers or hub, or whatever it’s called.
Yes diligence is a must if voting ever goes online (it’s a basic requirement actually), but someone who is more knowledgeable, shrewd, and equipped from elsewhere in the globe could meddle in the online process.
@@sanashy9024 if you have a diligent process with multiple ways of vetting and ensuring authenticity from both a live person double checking a web camera to printing out a paper ballot to sending an automatic PDF with the individual's choices of election picks with a confirmation number to also include a website in which you can verify vote and actually legitimately count votes ahead of time then all the sudden you have so many ways of covering your bases. Keep in mind currently all the fraud that has occurred during elections none of it is election fraud via online voting
