You’re welcome, thanks for tuning in! 🙏🏽 I wanted to show more, but the leaves are growing so densely! 😆 we will do another update without leaves later!! 🪴 🍁

Man I wish I had some place around here that sold bonsai stock like that. I do enjoy seeing you work on your trees, and never would've guessed a Twombley's Red Sentinel to make a good clump but it is coming along nicely.
Watched the whole video, the second half was at 2x speed since I was short on time. The chicken sounded hilarious at twice speed. 🐔 🔊

Glad you enjoyed it, haha. Yeah, ole Dusty is an egg laying machine! I was a little hesitant on this cultivar myself...but couldn't say no when I saw the photos. I had one a few years ago that I killed trying to air layer (very early in my bonsai journey)...but anyway, it had fairly decently small leaves. Here, you can see how blown out they are in response to the hard chops in early spring, and the heavy fertilization from last year at the nursery....great for healing wounds though!

You have inspired me to work with more JM. I have a few tridents and like them, but I live in North Fl. so the tridents do better here with the heat. I have some good shade cloth so the JMs I have seemed to do ok with it so far though. I plan to move to NC or TN in the next two years and at that time will probably dramatically increase my collection of JM lol (which I look forward to). Anyways, love seeing the progress and learning more about these trees with you. I'm excited to see watch you progress with them!

Hey 👋🏼 thank you for the detailed reply! I’m glad to hear about another bonsai nerd diving into the JMs!! Would love to see some of your tridents. I have a few young ones but no monsters yet. Feel free to reach out of Instagram DMs to chat over trees. Same username. Good luck with your move! When I moved from NY to VA it was just under 2k lbs of trees 😆 🤐 🚚💨 🪴🪴🪴 🍁

@@acer_p_bonsai No, thank you for the detailed reply! I definitely have been wanting to for awhile but the FL heat scared me with them. Can't wait to move to say the least lol. I actually just reached out to Ed ( I went there awhile back for some junipers and a pom) for a few more 😅. And wow, that's a lot! I probably will have somewhere not too far off from that when I move also lol. But I appreciate it! I will definitely reach out to you on Instagram. Until then, rock on man!

I am not sure if you replied to one my comments but I couldn’t find it. But I really want to know what fertilizer do you use? I have couple japanese maples but it is not as flush as yours

I use Plant Tone as an organic fertilizer for later development and refinement. I use Osmocote Plus as a stronger inorganic fertilizer for early development. The big pre bonsai in these early videos on my channel (red sentinel, Kiyohime, Kandy Kitchen, Oridono Nishiki forest, I am using a bit of both since none of these trees are in refinement yet.
I’m familiar with all the other stuff like bio gold, various meal cakes, fish emulsion, seaweed, etc. For me, these are fine but I’m trying to keep my costs down where I can. I don’t see a big difference from the “bonsai specific fertilizer” other than the one major difference-> high cost 💸🤑
