- I love a good SUV, but its never been my first choice, especially when it comes to performance. However I got to spend some time with this Dodge Durango R/T. It has some very tasteful mods and frankly im impressed.

Had a 2016 R/T Durango. Best car I've ever owned. Would love to have another, or an SRT version with a blower. Yep.
What happened? Sold or destroyed? Been considering an RT but worried about longevity.
I still have my 05 Durango SLT and its going strong runs almost like brand new. It's impressive with 160k on the dash. I only had one issue with transmission but has been going 10 years strong since then.
I have 2023 Hemi Orange RT. Came with the big brakes and slotted rotors and active exhaust system. I bought for my wife, but about to get her a grand cherokee and me keep the durango. I will be adding the whipple as well. I love using the track mode option...it stiffings the suspension and changes the exhaust tone as well. AWD is also a plus!!! I love it!!!

Thanks so much for sharing! I'm think of another mod for my 2020 durango rt. Entirely why I decided to go with rt instead of an SRT. I'm a mom with 3 kids, but refuse a minivan. The Whipple super charger is my next project. So far, I've only done exhaust and cold air intake. Can't wait to get my supercharger in after this video!
What is super fun is when a little sports car thinks I'm just a regular SUV and they get a huge wake up call!!! 😂😂 And my 5 year old waving as we pass 😂😂😂😂

Never got a speeding ticket but there just so much you can do with it in mods.
Love this vid. When I got our DRT, I initially wanted a DSRT for the Brembos and 392... Unfortunately they dont offer the DSRT with RWD only. I dont want or need the extra weight and complexity of AWD with the DSRT here in So Cal. I hear going SC with the 5.7 is the better way to go over the 392. Ill be checking in on these mods and the Brembos (I assume straight off the DSRT).
Just curious how the trans is handling the boost long term?
the durangos awd system is mostly rwd unless you are slamming the acceleration or need traction, mine only kicks in when im on country backroads or in the winter up here in new york. also if you get a tazer or other computer controller for the car on anything 2014 and later you can switch to rwd because it has an electronic gearbox, unlike the 2013s and before which is locked into awd with a mechanical gearbox
Will be getting one after the warranty is done. Have one on my camaro.
@SirDrifto how many miles are in the truck now with the SC? Been some debate about how long a stock motor lasts when boosted. Just wanted to see how it’s been holding up.

@@Wayniesgirl the new RTs are alot nicer 2021 and up the 0-60 is 5.5 seconds which is only .4 slower than the charger. ill take a .4 hit for AWD. add some mods and you'll be beating out alot of people

@@chemicalflex119hell yeah hundred percent, I've got a 2020 RT Durango with only a mid muffler delete AWD... You can't even tell it's all-wheel drive until you hammer the gas. Love this boat!!

I’m curious to know if it’s driven as a daily? Any downside for installing a whipple SC on a 5.7? I’m really looking to get one installed. Almost bought the SC last week but some people are saying it will ruin my engine, it will blow etc etc
The owner has been daily driving it for more than a year without a single issue.

5.7 hemis are built very tough

Would like to know what other mods were needed. Assume PCM swap was needed. Were cats deleted or replaced? Assume the remote activates a muffler delete?

@@jt31713 392 is 470 at the crank. This is 500 or so to the wheels. It would dust the stock 392 Durango.

Nice! I put a 3.3L Whipple on my '20 SRT Durango. It's the 6.4L and about 680 at the wheels.
Did you have to build the motor?

@@Von_SRT my performance shop said the 5.7L does not handle forced induction well. The 392 is a beast by itself. I had a charger scat pack before this, just too low to the ground, so I switched to the Durango.

exhaust cutout. been around for over 50 years. can be a button, manual pull, or wireless operation.
I got a 2021 rt durango with the tow n go package, been thinking about either trading it for a 392 durango, jeep srt or going this route, can't decide
NO WAY! You took my exact words right out of my mouth! I have a 2021 Tow N Go but I'm going the Whipple 3.0 mod without a doubt! The Tow N Go is already 100% SRT except the engine as you know. But with a Whipple it'll make our RT's a LOT faster than a 392 SRT Rango! The 392 is 475 HP at the crank. The Whipple will give ours about 475 at THE WHEELS which is about 593 HP at the crank.
Srt Durango is like 15-20k more, spend 8500$ on the whipple maybe another 3k on supporting mods, and you’re at around 470whp on a stock motor, supposedly it’s the same 8 speed transmission as the srt Durango too, you’ll have a faster car than an srt and cheaper.
I have the 2022 srt Durango 700 miles on it and I’m about to drop in pistons and a blower. So far my best stock 0-60 is 4.1

@@seanandnadia Not yet, waiting on another CZcamsr who just did it with his Tow N Go. He's having a very small issue and it's because he didn't use HP Tuners like Whipple suggests you use. Once he's squared away I'm going to see his input then pull the trigger next Summer.

When you tune it. You can increase the max speed. it is the same transmission as the 392. I was able to increase my speed on my 2016 Dodge Charger RT from 150 mph to 170 mph@@bobforpples

With no clutch you have a 8 speed automatic with paddle shifters.

5.7s can handle a supercharger and keep the reliability, its one of the few engines that do. the 3.6 v6 can handle a supercharge reliably as well
The 392 is technically the unreliable engine of all the engines.

I was told that it can't be done from 392 owners. Don't quote me on that.
