    Duplicants won't use conveyor loaders unless you select "Allow manual use". It's off by default on all conveyor loaders, making the priority only affects where sweepers try and move things if they have multiple options.

    Don’t know if someone said this on the first video, but your water reservoir is contaminated with food poisoning! The water sieve cleans the water from pollution, but not from germs. I would recommend making the bathroom system a closed loop, with an overflow drain for when the system is full, personally I use a liquid tank to postpone the need for a drain. (The dupes produce more polluted water than what’s put into the toilets)
    To clean the water you need to set up a system with chlorine gas, but that is something I have yet to master myself.
    Love the series! ❤

    Last coal generator is not connected to automation and keeps running. Try also a weightplate to see how much you have stored. Easyest is to build a tile first above the storage, and then build the weightplate to prevent everything from falling.

    For bulk movement of stuff / tidying, Dupes with carrying skill are *far* better than Conveyors. A dupe with max carrying skill can carry about 1.7 Tonnes. Conveyors are more suited for keeping things running, cooling materials etc. To get Dupes to tidy stuff, just use the automatic dispenser - set the filters to Sweep Only and All, then mark the debris you want to be moved by dupes with the Sweep tool.

    If you split the conveyor rail from the bottom right you could send it to the second drop chute to double your collection time. The conveyor going through two chutes divides the load for each chute, ie 20 becomes 10 out of each chute. If you added a third to the line 5 would come out of the last 2 chutes. So on and so on...

    Hi Biffa! I'm glad you're back to posting videos on ONI!
    I'll never thank you enough for making me discover this amazing game. I started following your content because I find your videos on City Skyline super entertaining. I actually enjoyed more watching your videos than playing the game itself.
    But one day you make me aware of ONI, and here I am I believe almost 5 years later with more than 4800 hours on it!
    So big big thanks man! May you never run out of tea!
    On the advice side, Spaced Out is.. well... about space. You can totally play the old way (think of space as end game) but you won't be able to complete much research w/o a rocket. So there's value in getting to space sooner than what you may be used to.
    CO2 engines are great for starting rockets, just very limited in range, it's almost always a one way trip to any destination, make sure you can get back (bring your own CO2 or make it locally - bringing coal isn't a bad idea). But they are fast, usually dups don't need O2 or food, a trip may last just 1/3 of a cycle.
    You can use the transporter to reach the 2nd planetoid (probably where the oil biome is). Set camp, activate the transporters. I find it handy to build a SPOM on the 1st planetoid and send oxygen to the 2nd, you don't have to rely on local O2 production for quite a while, it comes in pipes (ready for suits). Then build a landing pod for rockets, and a CO2 refuelling station. Then you can send rockets to/from the main planet, useful to transfer a sizable workforce all at once, when you're ready to tackle the oil biome.
    You seem to have swamp biomes, start collecting reed fiber. Suits now decay and you need more fiber to repair them, so a constant supply is needed. Finding and harvesting wild plants early helps in building a stack.
    Also, radiation research is needed quite soon. Don't wait until you're out of reaseach targets. Whatever source of radiation you choose (you can build a V shaped small chamber with 5 worts and single radbolt generator in the middle - they are super power hungry at low radiation levels), make it so bolts come from the down left corner, travel diagonally, hit the 1st MST (Meterial Study Terminal), potentially go past it, hit another MST. MST have weird automation signaling that don't work to well in controlling generators. Make dups come from the right and not cross path with the radbolts.

    Thanks for the episode.
    your currently not killing germs from your setup. the Water Sieve removes the polluted but not the germs.
    most people store it until they can really repurpose it. others void it.
    if you already mentioned it, ignore this then. i missed it then.
    i tend to easly misuse the water that's available, so i'm team recyclable.
    You already noticed the temperatures leaking in from other biomes, I would advice to make plans for it already.
    Things tend to spiral really easily. and fixing it after it has become a issue is really hard.
    Last tip, Slimelung can be hard to deal with, But it's way less intense then when it's first was introduced, Not storing it in oxygen filled base and having a water lock and washing bin.
    Can make it quite safe to expand in the swamp until you have proper atmo suits.

    There's an automation combo that lets you choose what items you want to send to specific rails and locations, but it may require Material Research (Radiation) in Spaced Out. Look for Conveyor Rail Element Sensors and Conveyor Shutoff.
    Place the Sensor on the rail before the Shutoff's Input, and draw a Conveyor Line from the Shutoff's output to your Coal Generator room. Draw an additional Conveyor Line from the Input to another location, as this Rail will be where everything that's *NOT* Coal will be going. Connect the Sensor to the Shutoff with Automation Wire, then tell the Sensor to detect Coal. This will tell the Shutoff to only allow Coal through it, which will then send it to your Coal Generator room. Anything else continues along the line, where you can either just dump it somewhere (like you're doing now) or further filtering/directing as you like.
    I use this setup in Hatch Ranches. The Sweepers can be used to move Coal to the generators (or Kilns), resupply feed stations, and move eggs at the same time.

    Never EVER use bottle emptier on the water. If some water gets polluted, and that can happen easilly, it will be emptied into your clear water storage and you'll have HUGE problem.
    There is zero reason to do it. Just keep it in the bottles on the ground, your dupes will use those bottles where needed directly(watch out for Soda fountain).
    Polluted clear water is best used to water your bristle berries, pollution doesnt spread on the plants. If you want to do it, make it at least separate water storage thats only to water your plants. Still, some caution is needed in early game, because plants will drain your water reserves relative fast(more problem on dry maps). Water Sleeve polluted water your dupes 'produce' is best way to water your plants. I usually wait for my waste management is done before starting with bristtle berries for that reason. Its not worth untill you get kitchen set up anyway.

  • @salemprompthous3820
    @salemprompthous3820 Před měsícem

    Edit: hopefully, I'm not just repeating other people's comments here, but:
    On the coal gennies and mechanized arms: the input tile of the coal genny (litterally every machine, not just the gennies) is the tile your mouse coursor holds the building blueprint, and in this case, the center tile. One arm reaches far enough to overlap three gennies and a storage bin. For a big coal-room, have a storage in the middle, whith a decent priority (so dupes keep it topped up), one arm each side and three gennies mirrored from the storage. Decrease the priority on the gennies to 1, that way dupes will only steal the job from the arms if the dupes go idle. Once researched (need either the space-studies or radiation studies, don't remember which, so still a bit of a ways off), change the storage bin to a conveyor receptacle.
    Transformers: as long as there are no batteries on the consumer side, the wire will (in this case, not necessarily in every case) never overload. The two-strand can take up to 1kw, and the small transformer only delivers 1kw, so it won't overload, it will however hamper effectiveness if consumption exceeds the 1kw, lights flickering, crusher stopping mid-production forcing the dupe to start that particular process from scratch. Upgrading to a large transformer on a conductive wire is a completely different case, as that can deliver 4kw, and the cond.wire can only take 2kw. Which is why, personally, I only use large transformers in special use cases. Two small transformers delivering onto one cond.wire maxes out to 2kw, which is basically the same as one small transformer on a two-strand wire, but capacity is doubled.
    The door to an unknown/obscured room: dupes need to stand level with the door, so I'd suggest placing a tile/ladder in front of it, else it won't give a job order to a dupe.

    Yay! New Biffa-ONI episode!
    Heya Biffa from Germany! :)
    Quick Question: Why are you running the pipes 1 tile _below_ the farm tiles and connect up-/downwards instead of simply running the pipe itself across the farm tiles?

    • @SalamanderBSC
      @SalamanderBSC Před měsícem +5

      The bit that goes upwards acts as a dedicated buffer of 10kg of water for that farm tile. If the tiles are just connected in a line, each tile in the row consumes *all* the water it can until it needs no more, which can mean that the last few tiles in the farm *never* get water.
      With the branches, a single water packet will go to all pipe branches with equal probability; 50% going to the first farm tiles, 50% to all the rest (i.e. second farm tile gets 25%, third gets 12.5, and so on). This means even if you don't have enough water to grow all your plants, the ones at the end will still grow *eventually*, just much slower than they should.
      But mostly people do it for the 10kg buffer thing.

    ...mmm... not really how that works but whatever.

    • @SalamanderBSC
      @SalamanderBSC Před měsícem

      For weird reasons uranium in ONI is always very cold. Presumably because it's the habitat of beetas, which feed on uranium and die at temperatures over 0C.
      I don't think there's specifically a lore reason for it, but it's probably more a gameplay reason of "we already have a hot hazardous biome (oil), we should add a cold hazardous one".
      It's weird in the same way that part of the effect of radiation is modelled as germs, and as such you can block a chunk of it with flower pollen.

      Nah this is Oxygen Not Included. Over-engineering is the default behaviour. You start playing one day, three days later you are looking up how to build perpetual motion machines to generate power and oxygen. The day after that you are learning how to reverse entropy to destroy heat.
      Then later on you're trying to work out how to pass food through your custom entropy-reverser so it doubles as food refrigerator.
      Somewhere along the line you realise you also built a room specifically designed solely for drowning the babies of local wildlife, and have committed far too many crimes against nature to stop now.
