I have had the same 1982 honda 59 since I was 6 years old. I’m 35 now and it still runs

And here’s me sitting a fully restored 1981 z50r. New engine, new carb, new point, new electrics. And I can’t get it to faster than walking speed and just bogs. Just fouling plugs it seems
I have a 1983 z50r
Nice, I have yet to find a clean 83 z50r. Just recently picked up an 83 roller but no engine for it.

I just got a mint 83 z50r yesterday only thing is its missing the factory airbox
Seems you got compression but the old Honda’s never have a lot of compression even after adjustments so their sensitive ...I would readjust the valves it takes only a couple of minutes but i readjust mine probably every 8 months not Bc there going bad but too me it’s just best to keep up with it
Good info. I finally got around to going through this bike and cleaned the carb, got the exhaust sorted out and like you said adjusted the valves. It ran great after all that.
Whats best method to do valve's? How much play do you leave? I dropped a valve on piston it went through piston so i replaced all that now i want to make sure I dont have valves to tight. I might have had timing chain tight to so idk why it broke but those are my guesses. What is the 1 minute crash course of doing these valves because the shop manual i have i can't follow it or just doesn't make sense because they jump all over place clymers and I have original honda shop manual both are kinda useless to me lol

tbh im not 100% i figure 1980 has serial but sticker is gone. looks identical to yours but has the exhaust with out number plate mounts and black grill covering it
had to clean points and carb and the little beast fired right up !!
