I've got a customer with a 2015 chevy 3500 high country, he tows a 53 ft horse trailer all over the country and the truck has 641k miles. We change the oil every 5k miles, and fuel filters every 10k miles. We changed the the transmission fluid and filters when they have 450k miles on them (way over due but this was when I took over maintaining the truck) the fluid still looked brand new, the filters looked great and the magnet in the pan had almost nothing on it. The only issue this truck has is a mysterious coolant loss, but an oil analysis shows its not an internal issue, its a slight external leak that only happens at certain engine Temps. This truck will get to 1 million miles without a doubt

@@CFarmer There used to be a company called module masters. They repair vehicle electrical modules. I haven’t used them in several years but they repaired the power break module on my sons VW Passat. A new one was almost 2k, and they repaired it for $75 and warrantied the repair for 5 years. He sold it about 7 years later and it was still working great. We removed and shipped the module and had it back in about 7 days. They might be worth a call.

I have a 2019 & I bought a 2 gallon pump up sprayer cut the end off of the wand got a rubber hose to slide over the end put the other end off the hose into the filler tube to the DEF tank pump it up press the trigger & fill my tank, no mess, no corrosion, took about 10 minutes to put on the 2 gallons. The dealers will always swear its the injector and say they need to replace the connector while there in there. The connectors I've replaced... I've been told at dealers that you caint just buy the connector....until i give them the part numberfor it. Sorry to hear you've had so many issues but sounds to me like the dealers taking advantage.

Just rolled over 230k today. I had to do all 8 injectors and a couple of injector connectors in 2020 around 170k. I’ve got a code for a NOx sensor. So I’ve got that one coming very soon. I love mine overall. I’ve hauled a lot of boats, Mastercraft, Moomba, Supra, Sea Ray, Aviara (demo on gooseneck trailer), Malibu, Axis…and then hotshot with a 40’ gooseneck, loaded down with about 32k gcwr max (almost sucked the air filter through the intake). I’ve had mine since new, and I had the metal shavings in the fuel filter (injectors). It’s pretty strong still to have as many miles as it does. I may have a rear main going out.

@@CFarmer my 18 just rolled over 275k. So far at 60k I had dealer replace an injector under warranty. #5. At 110k I had to replace number 7 pigtail. I’m wondering if that’s all they did or needed to do to #5. I always wonder how many ppl take theirs to the stealer and get charged for a injector when all it was is a pigtail they swapped. Only other thing I’ve done in the last 10k miles mine kept throwing the abs light, stabilitrak and traction control off and on randomly over and over. And then I’d get a engine power reduced. If I pulled over and shut the truck off and waited 30 seconds and restarted it then I would have my power back till it decided to throw a fit again. I had the abs codes coming up on the front and code p228c low fuel pressure code. My plug on my rail sensor looked iffy so I bought a new sensor for the rail and a new pigtail to plug into it. So far that go rid of the check engine light and reduced power it kept throwing at me.
I also just put on the front since I figured it was time and I kept hearing a thud in the driver front side, I installed new kryptonite hubs from dmaxstore online. To my suprise my hubs were still tight and felt like new so my abs wire in the driver side must of been bad. I still figured it was time to throw some new hubs on. And the thud I was hearing turned out to be the CV axle. I have a 2.5” level on my truck and travel oilfield lease roads daily so they took a toll on them. I found oreillys carry’s extended cv axles for our 18’ model trucks that have level or small lift. They are the only place that has them. So after those new goodies no more abs light and I’m back in business.

I noticed your handheld radio in the floor and then you showed your strobe lights…I was curious if you belong to a local fire department?

I'm not, it's a cobra hand held cb. It's good for traffic jams and stuff like that. Not good for long range

Would you recommend a new L5P for hotshot or would you recommend Ram or Ford instead. Any help would be awesome thank you.

I have never owned a Dodge or a Ford so I'm kinda biased on the l5p. I wished i could be more help. I know guys who have had good luck with all 3

I test drove a few. Ford suspension super stiff/bouncy. The 17 Ram with 120,000 drove as crappy as my 06. Chevy had zero complaints everyone I drove. Ford and Ram I kept pointing things out. Happy with my 18 Duramax.

442k miles today never had even a alignment. Just keep front end greased and check my joints. No complaints

Can you give me some more info on the semi transport. Or point me in the right direction. Thanks.

As far as pulling campers with semi I've never even looked into it. I have a friend that pulls with a semi for Indiana transport but I've never even asked what the rates are. I wished i could be more help but i figured if i did ever get back in a big truck i would go back to hauling steel. If you're asking about transporting the new trucks like i was doing before i started pulling campers, it was enjoyable driving the new trucks but the money wasent that good and the company i was with was a joke.

Anyway to get your notes from you? I know it’s a long shot, but I have to ask.

I'm so glad you brought that up. Honestly it had slipped my mind. I haven't figured out where to put it up yet but i will. Email me at cfarmeronyt@gmail.com and I'll try to send copies tomorrow. I need to type them out so they're easier to read
