Priyanka shah Decathletes are very social and friendly with one another. It’s more a group of friends, a community, or a multi-event family than it is a bunch of competitors ruthlessly going at each other’s necks with no regard for one another. They encourage each other and push each other to their best, as I’ve heard from decathletes. It makes sense though, they spend so much time together during these international competitions and go through so much in days of competitions, why not have fun and be social while you’re at it? 🤷🏽♂️
Which means you could reach 5500/6000 on your own, which is like triple the points some random person would make, so that's good. I calculated if I'm on my PB in every event (6400 in real, virtually 7300 with only PBs), I could push him at least until javelin \o (Not much more..)
HALLUCINANT !! Il est parti moyennement ensuite, il a accéléré un peu tôt, au dernier tour je pensais qu'il était cuit, il a été le chercher dans le dernier virage chapeau l'artiste
icedwhite mocha No. They are mostly short events so there is no reason why they should be too tired to compete in a 1500m. Its not like running a 10000m. Besides their events are spread out over a number of days.
His shot put (9/18), discus (11/18) - strength events - and high jump (17/18) were not among the competition best. Otherwise, we could have witnessed a much better WR from AE. He is a monster in track events (100 m, 110 hurdles, 400 m, 1500 m) and those where speed matters (long jump, pole vault). Kevin Mayer who broke his record is more all rounder in comparison. KM is magnificent in pole vault and javelin.
Retired at the start of the height of his abilities. What a shame. He could have been a 9200+ guy. As great as he is -- and he is a champion -- this is the difference between this generation of athletes and prior generations. The older generations would have fought through the beginning of physical decline. That's an older-generation attitude. Today, Millennials and younger? They don't stick to things in the same way. They move on to new things more quickly, don't know the difference between "time off" and "quit". Not saying that's good or bad, but it certainly isn't the same. The result is that *he* doesn't feel he has more potential. His mind is out of it, so it's true. But look at his stats -- so much room to grow in the throws. His shot put alone was an absolute mess up to the very end. A bit of room to improve in the PV and HJ. One thing: if you and your spouse have similar interests and vocations, depending on your relationship, you take on each other's disposition. Think about that. If you're reading this, Ashton, maybe just long jump? You might actually be in the top-5 in the US if you focused on it. Or th 400H hurdles? You might be in the top-5.
I agree with you, it would be good to see Bolt try and run at Tokyo 2020 because we've seen Gatlin running at age 35 and Kim Collins at 41, but that's his decision. It always feels better to finish on a high note, but when you are at the height of your powers I think he should continue. Ashton is now retired at only 29, and you still see Mo Farah winning every 5000m/10000m race at 34.
Ben Sullivan I think since Bolt is so much taller than most other sprinters it would be harder for him to continue as he gets older. It would take more of a toll on his body.
It's a confusing algorithm but most people sorta just estimate. There are certain marks that grant you 1000 points in every event. For instance in the 100m I believe somewhere in the 10.3-10.4 range you get 1000 points. In long jump the mark is somewhere around 7.85m for 1000 points
Not at all being hyper-critical, but he could shave a little bit off his 100 by improving his hip flexibility on his right side, it's a little tighter than the left
Fun Fact: 0.01s in 100m 999.99m in Long Jump 999.99m in shot put 999.99m in high jump 0.01s in 400m 0.01s in 110m hurdles 999.99m in discus 999.99m in Pole Vault 999.99m in javelin 0.01s in 1500m = 13,778,826 points! In fact, you score EVEN LESS points for running 1500m in 0.01s than you do for sprinting 100m in that time! These performances are so unrealistic that the models used become inaccurate and out of proportion at these times and distances.
has anyone noticed that he crossed the 400m line at 44.7? Both the tv clock and the on field clock showed 44's. I think he got cheated at least 0.2 of second.
Hey, why am I faster over 1'500 m than the last competitors arriving with my 4'35" ? I started only on the 22.07.2017 going on the all-weather running track and I made it on the 09.10.2017, so this isn't good actually because I am faster than them.
Jo An but you train for that. I run 4:10 1500m but I don't train specifically for 1500m. They have a very varied training because they need to have decent performance everywhere
He'd still be world record-holder with over 9300 points if he'd ever developed any type of feel for the shot and discus. He still had 2nd year shot and discus skills at the end of his career. Absolutely terrible technique saved only by his incredible athletic ability.
+Shane Smith You're insane. Not only does one have to have exceptional abilities in the following (but not limited to) categories such as speed, power, strength, stamina, but one has to work on the technique of each and every one of those disciplines. Ashton Eaton is THEE GREATEST athlete in history being the WR holder and best in the decathlon. Name an athlete who can run faster, but also jump higher or throw farther, and run a longer distance as fast?
+Shane Smith Decathletes are hands down the greatest all around, pound for pound athletes on the planet, regardless of whether you think so or not. That's not being elitist, it is objective and factual.
I just watched a 42 min video in a completely foreign language.
Erwin Thomas me to don’t have a idea what there saying
I keep hearing “Timmy Turner”
Erwin Thomas it’s French
Me too bruh 😂🤣😂🤣
Thats Russian
What a machine, so inspiring! Now back to my doughnut..
Noice
☻
SO GLAD I TOOK FRENCH IN SCHOOL.
this is always that one event that nobody really likes to watch, but's got some of the greatest athletes competing in it
Best Olympic and T&F event
He really is the complete package.
Thanks for uploading all of it! Fantastic to see Ashton throughout the whole competition
World Sport ii
*_IT'S OVER 9000 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!_*
Well done, Ashton Eaton! Merci for posting, mes amis!
The sportmanship at the ending is very eye opening.

it feels so good to see at 11:20 when player of other nation were also clapping supporting him

This is a great French language broadcast of the Decathlon World Championships
decathlon deserves a lot more attention, a lot. this is true Olympic game
Greatest-Athlete-Of-All-Time!
Pablo Cid no
Robert Wymir absolutely yes
Pablo Cid Usain Bolt
Robert Wymir lmao, he is the greatest sprinter ever, not athlete
micheal Johnson is the best athlete
من بلاد الحجاز تحياتي للبطل الجزائري العربي بورعدة .. مركز خامس في هذا الاختصاص الصعب جدا إنجاز عظيم
I miss competing decathlon, there was such respect and brotherhood among the competitors compared with all the other disciplines
When I ran distance everyone knew each other no matter where they competed even across the nation and the respect and camrodery was amazing
He could've packed his bags halfway through the pole vault and still finished ahead of me.
Which means you could reach 5500/6000 on your own, which is like triple the points some random person would make, so that's good. I calculated if I'm on my PB in every event (6400 in real, virtually 7300 with only PBs), I could push him at least until javelin \o (Not much more..)
He could have stopped competing after the first day and still won against me
They are all such incredible athletes and they have such great sportsmanship!
いつ見てもすげーよなー...
憧れるわ...
He looks so happy. I love him
Like the announcer said... "Incroyable!" 45 seconds flat in the 400 meters!!! In my dreams (sigh). Great race!!!
HALLUCINANT !! Il est parti moyennement ensuite, il a accéléré un peu tôt, au dernier tour je pensais qu'il était cuit, il a été le chercher dans le dernier virage chapeau l'artiste
juste magnifique
Really great guy. Humbling and humanizing :)
Look at how these guys are trashed after running a 1500m in 4:20 and you should understand why distance runners don't carry all that muscle bulk
***** These guys are much heavier than Mahkloufi. Even Mahkloufi himself is right at the edge of functional muscle mass if not over
+iceberg most distance runners are super skinny because it takes less energy to propel yourself forward
+Aaron tewelde
bolo
It's because they are doing 10 events all. The 1500m is the last one so of course they are gonna be tired.
icedwhite mocha No. They are mostly short events so there is no reason why they should be too tired to compete in a 1500m. Its not like running a 10000m. Besides their events are spread out over a number of days.
Is there a full video like this but with English commentary?
I love his shouts! “Teeeh!” “TOOH”
Inspiring!!! The symbol of mankind!
You know you're watching a decathlon when every competitor collapses as soon as they reach the finishing line of the 1500 metres!
After 2 days of nonstop competition, you're gonna feel pretty trashed after running close to a mile
Absolutely astounding.
super video, merci !
Very nice....like creating a great stock portfolio...
Decathlon best athlete in the world..Ashton eaton
Awesome sports
Proud to go to the same high school he did
superb
I love how the commentator says he won't be able to get the world record 34:32 and then he does it hahah wow!
Pure stud athlete.
Ο καλύτερος δεκαθλητής όλων των εποχών!!!!!!!!
Yesss! Finaly!
Ashton is so cool
SUPERHUMAN!!!!
the best of the best
Truth be told he is my daughter
Lolwut?
lmao xDD
It's bizarre. The decathlon is so rigorous that these world-class athletes are collapsing by the end.
just beaten by kevin mayer in france 9126 points amazing
Can't beat Eaton's being twice Olympic champion.
His shot put (9/18), discus (11/18) - strength events - and high jump (17/18) were not among the competition best. Otherwise, we could have witnessed a much better WR from AE. can someone please set some time stamps
What a beast
Perfect!
if you feel usless think of the one meter marks in feild events
yes...
That was unbelievable!!
A GERMAN GUY NAMED *RICO* !! WOW..
Cool.
GOOD
How come it looks like he did't even touch the bar, and it still came down?
He hit it with his hip.
400 mt in 45" la migliore prestazione fantastico tempo
FRENCHMAN KEVIN MAYER JUST BEAT THE DECATHLON WR!
Smashed you should say !
Eaton is a two time Olympic champion and gold medals can never be beat, unlike WRs.
I hope these very excited French commentators were there for that as well!

Testing123 ikr. I wish he would've atleast did this years world championships before he retired

Ben Sullivan I think it's safe to say that it's the right decision for Bolt to quit, he is just broken and not the same he used to be
Artturi Laine having watched the world championships, I probably take my comment from 2 months ago back.
Ben Sullivan I think since Bolt is so much taller than most other sprinters it would be harder for him to continue as he gets older. It would take more of a toll on his body.
Yeah ash ash woooooooooohooooooo
secret : my teacher teached ashont eaton 😱 i got so exited when she said that
+SSM Liz Taught*. I think you need a better teacher.
taught
+Arne Lol
You need a better teacher...
LaPine Mt View High school, I know my shit man I live in the same town he went to high school in
what would vegeta say "IT'S OVER 9000!!!!!!!"
Over two days the dude ran a 10.30 100m, a 45.00 400m and a 4:17 1500m.
How does the scoring work?
It's a confusing algorithm but most people sorta just estimate. There are certain marks that grant you 1000 points in every event. For instance in the 100m I believe somewhere in the 10.3-10.4 range you get 1000 points. In long jump the mark is somewhere around 7.85m for 1000 points
He should have definitely been a 400m sprinter
13:56
I've got his hat
Terminator
has anyone counted how often they say ashton eaton?
Kid's good! He might have worn himself out in the vault by taking too many jumps, though. He was high enough early to clear 18 feet.
did any one else notice his scream at 13:46
Que porcentaje de grasa tendrá aproximadamente este atleta?
Minus than Penaldo trust me
Lmao his response at 38:27 is too good
hahah that stare into the camera at 25:04
They don't give them water? wtf
Pourquoi ce video en francais?
psq la chaîne est française
Not at all being hyper-critical, but he could shave a little bit off his 100 by improving his hip flexibility on his right side, it's a little tighter than the left
it probably helps in other events like shot put
日本人👍
he looks like Rajon Rondo from the side
truuuu
Disciplines where you have to throw something gives no points compared to running.
Actually, running comes more natural so they are going to naturally score higher points than in the specialty disciplines.
At 21:23 they completely missed where the discus landed
Yea, big time.
the french commentators sound like they are hacking loogies
That moment when I’m a freshman in high school and can beat some of these guys in the 1500
Fun Fact:
0.01s in 100m
999.99m in Long Jump
999.99m in shot put
999.99m in high jump
0.01s in 400m
0.01s in 110m hurdles
999.99m in discus
999.99m in Pole Vault
999.99m in javelin
0.01s in 1500m
=
13,778,826 points!

Days 35 complete
Days 200 🎯
Hardly anyone in the audience
I mean for the pole vault
has anyone noticed that he crossed the 400m line at 44.7? Both the tv clock and the on field clock showed 44's. I think he got cheated at least 0.2 of second.
tdtmd03 You are wrong
tdtmd03 hahahahahahha
Selina Leung (or anybody else who knows why) elaborate?
etfu on screen clocks are always inaccurate. Laser timed on the field is correct and that’s what the 45.00 is
26:25 he is not touching it
GO CANADIA!!
:))))
XD😊

I don't train for 1'500 m, but for 6'000 m under twenty minutes. When I am there, I will probably get 1'500 m just under four minutes.
their 1500 meters is after 2 days of incredible effort, and they train for 9 other events too
he trains 2 hours a day: over 9000 points bruce jenner trained 6-8 hours a day: 8618 points.... something just does not add up about this
My name is Ashton
Barely even looks like he’s running
He'd still be world record-holder with over 9300 points if he'd ever developed any type of feel for the shot and discus. He still had 2nd year shot and discus skills at the end of his career. Absolutely terrible technique saved only by his incredible athletic ability.
F
Ummm.. Usain Bolt Should Try That Cause His The Fastest Runner In The World..
I don't think you know what a decathlon is. It's 10 sports not one 😂
+Yang Life actually it is one sport, only 10 different disciplines
I would like to see usain run 1500
There's nothing more attractive than a great decathlete.
Boo
@Bryce Li Don't be an elitist this sport isn't that impressive.
It is one of the most impressive athletic feats ever done
lol social reject mad.
