- Deep Purple played a fantastic show at the Star Theatre in Singapore - 1st May 2024. This is their first live performance of ‘Portable Door’. Unfortunately missed the first time around of the riff as I wasn’t aware it was coming.

Some of the old songs do not work for him anymore, but he sounds phenomenal on the newer material

They sound extremely good for guys at their age.
They still have a youthfull sound and they are showing absolutely no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
Deep Purple rocks.
Ian was phenomenal. Hit all the notes on Into the Fire as well! Best of all: the guys are still having fun on stage and you really feel it. Awesome show.

Gillan is fabulous, the band are so great, I love also Paice’s drumming. Gillan and Paice and Glover are legends.
Purple has always had the best of the best musicians!
50 years a fan and they still excite me as a band and a creative force. Great track, brilliantly performed. Just have to pinch myself; so lucky that my all time favourite band are still turning out quality music and performances. Looking forward to Birmingham in November 2024 and another chance to see them live.

I discovered them mostly in 1984…Knocking at your back door…wow. Perfect Strangers for me, is my favorite work they’ve done. I now am 54 and Portable Door is…wow. Ian is a bad ass. They sound so good, the same really.
@@aps4264 Absolutely I agree, “perfect stranger” is the best work.. they opened the door for many scene of rock with this album! I would buy a ticket for a concert in Italy this summer.. could be the last!

Love this new song and it sounds great here live. Loving Simon's playing too, it has hints of history, but setting his own style.

I can assure you that nothing feels better than hearing a new song in concert. I witnessed that during DP's Abandon tour. Loved it and will never forget the experience.

Here you go all the Axle rose fans and the band gnr, gillan is nearly 20 years older than that lot and this is how its done. So quit the endless excuses that Axle is old thats a load of crap, he just can't sing now and it's nothing to do with his age.

Ezrin is adding too many layers on the vocals. This sounds better, even on a crappy phone recording. He was great on the last tour and he'll be great on this one

I'm now 68 years old and still love this band very much superb!!
Even the sixties' production was great!

Gillan's voice alone is enough to say that the live versions of the new songs will be better than their studio counterparts. I almost can't stand how heavily the vocals have been processed in the studio. Gillan is still a great singer, at least for the most recent tunes; he also does a decent job on the other classics, if you ask me.

I agree. I think it’s helpful that this show was a ‘one off’ because the Australian dates were cancelled. Imagine at 78 playing shows back to back, it can’t be maintainable for the voice even 30 years younger. I think they should do more of this and less touring to make the most of it but I guess they love it so who can blame them 🤘

After all these years I think deep purple's got another hit. This song rocks if this came out back in the seventies with the original purple it still would have been just as cool unbelievable playing the new guitar player is amazing I love that guy great sound great feel this band has defied time more so than the stones

This was a treat! Like all, or at least most others who've commented here, the Deep Purple sound we all remember so well from the late 60s, early 70s is still present. Yes, I know the wonderfully memorable and distinguished talents of Mr Lord & Mr Blackmore may not be present, but there is a new fresh sound with the sweet deliveries of Don Airey & Simon McBride filling in beautifully.
God Bless Gillan, Glover & Paice for keeping the memories real.
