Congratulations Robby and best wishes to both of you for the future. When I was in the Himalayas last year we went to a museum where they had a 3D experience I think using Oculus climbing Mt Everest. What amazed me was the perception of height. I looked down and nearly freaked out. It was so steep. That is the aspect of hiking videos that is always lost today in my own backpacking adventures in the Sierras. The steepness of the trail never seems come over. I think that would be the impact fun benefit to an Adventure Archives trip. just a thought...
Totally agree on your point about tech advancing without intention or thought about the consequences. I work in tech and the culture is so "move fast and break things" focused that it becomes scary when we break things outside of the tech world that we don't fully understand (social norms adapting to social media influence, the economy, etc.). It's made me more aware and I am constantly trying to be intentional about how I use technology because it is increasingly becoming a mere tool to suck my attention for profit.
So my answer to your question is this the life we want is no. Fun to get to play the games. I don't really want anybody having any control over what goes on in my head period. No I don't trust them. I'm 74 so I probably won't have to deal with it. But I think at some poit leaves us open control of sorts. That's not what we would think it was for but there are those out there that I think would take full advantage Of it. My thoughts
What about the people who wear prescription glasses and can’t wear the glasses. Tho I probably shouldn’t worry about that. It’s probably further along than I have to live LOL
