Lost my Golden boy about 9 months ago. Perfect dog. Actually hesitant to get another because I feel like I’ll just be trying to get back what I had, which won’t ever happen. I miss you Boomer, thanks for being the best dog a guy could ever wish for.
The golden retriever really is the perfect dog. I just picked up my golden puppy Grace a couple of weeks ago. She is really smart and energetic and is SO loyal to me.

12 yrs is really avg. Many of these Amazing dogs routinely hit 13-15. EXERCISE is absolutely key. Do Not get if you're more a Basset Hound guy (Amazing as well but Clearly different needs)
I love hiking, however I haven’t owned a dog before. It looks like a great companion for hiking. Anything from 1-2h per day would be okay for me as I normally walk 50km per week .
@@C0d0ps They love to run:) Purebred from reputable breeder will run between 2-4k. Any dog is expensive unless a rescue (it's worth investing $$$ into Golden puppy, imo). You can shape their behavior instead of dealing with potential rescue issues.
@@Zorn76 I am not a big fan of runner. I prefer hiking. I am having my first running race of 3.6 km aka 4k in may 2023. I can hike for longer distances than I can run (knees hurt when running). I would consider getting a bicycle though. I intend to spend 2500$ for the dog 1500$ on the rest. I just need a year of saving up money is all. I am moving next year in 2024 so my dog would arrive in 2025.
I plan to pick up my golden in 2y or 2025. In Sweden they cost 3-4k usd the first year. I am currently 25, so I will be 27 in 2025 and I have Asperger’s and lives alone.
"Golden Retrievers are considered average shedders." Are you kidding me?? Brush and comb the dog daily, and vacuum daily, it takes about 30 min. Do it every 3 days and it will take an hour, or more, and, you have a houseful of hair. I love my GR Service Dog, but, she sheds a lot, like ALL Goldens. Best dog ever, but be prepared.
It depends. There is not a single scale. On small-medium-large-giant scale they are large, on small-medium-large they are sometimes considered medium and sometimes large. And in comparison with 2 dogs I had before, I also can consider my large Golden only a medium size.

Not as bad as German Shepherd.
