      @@WiltshireTutorials can I ask something? I have a q8400 system until now. It has 2gb ram, and no graphics card. But the board has some room for upgrades, it supports 8gb theoretically (if the 2x 4gb Ddr3 rams are compatible) it was an asrock g41m-VS3. I wonder what would I need to buy? I want to add a graphics card. I'm aiming to use gtx 560ti-660ti and 8gbs of ram. (Don't have enough money to buy newer systems). Although 1155 systems are the cheapest way to go, my budget was not really enough. Do my upgrades can help my system run GTA V at least 30-40 fps even in normal settings on an online gameplay? And also at least smooth editing experience? I've been editing some vids over that potato pc for years, i use Adobe premiere pro 2016 it was really sluggish but I tried to use it many times. Even though the rendering times were absolutely high. For like, 2 hours rendering time for a 5 mins video.

    • @WiltshireTutorials
      @WiltshireTutorials  Před 4 lety

      Q8400 can still do some work today. I'd suggest giving it a good 3Ghz or above overclock. Giving the PC 8GB will really help it as well. Having Dual Channel memory will give the CPU a slight performance boost as well. A 560ti or 660ti won't get you far, unfortunately. I suggest trying to find a good used RX 470 or an RX 480. If you want NVIDIA, then maybe a GTX 960

    • @WiltshireTutorials
      @WiltshireTutorials  Před 4 lety

      It will be difficult to make 144FPS happen for those games with that budget. I would shoot for 120FPS @ 1080p. At 1080p you're more CPU bound than GPU. So invest in the fastest CPU you can get your hands on. I wouldn't suggest an Optiplex due to all processors being locked in them. Meaning no overclocking for the CPU. You're going to need to overclock the CPU to make that 120FPS happen as well.

    Wow, I didn't expect it to be this good, I'm genuinely surprised! Both Witcher and Tomb Raider's performance was very solid. I'm not too deeply knowledgeable in benchmarking either, but you ran all the standard tests, so imo a job well done. Good thing you caught the hyperthreading issue, I thought something like that would happen. Pre-built PC manufacturers, Dell in particular, love screwing with stuff like that in their systems.
    Also, get well soon, hope the door didn't leave too big of a scar. I was also hospitalized for the first time like a month ago, had a very high fever due to intestinal flu, got an IV drip and everything lol. I'm completely fine now, just on a strict diet haha.

If you wanted to get the most out of the 3050, you could upgrade to an i7, if you find one for a decent price. I personally would take the money and put it into a decent GPU. Spectre and Meltdown are 2 major security vulnerabilities discovered in Intel CPUs. To fix those security risks, Intel had to gimp Hyperthreading a little bit. Thus leading to some performance losses. By disabling the patches (this is what Inspectre was used for), you get back the lost performance, but open yourself to potential attack.

    Hey i know this sounds stupid, But What exactly does Upgrading your CPU make faster? Say i jumped from an i5 to an i7, What would get faster? The Web Browsing? How many applications i can run at one time? Video Game Frames?

      Not a stupid question at all! No shame in asking questions to learn more about something! Assuming you're using/talking about latest Intel CPUs, by upgrading from an i5 to an i7 you'll gain a few things. The first is that the current i7 CPUs come with hyperthreading. The i5 CPUs lack hyperthreading. Linus and his crew have an excellent video on what hyperthreading is, if you aren't familiar with what it is. Here's the link to his video: czcams.com/video/wnS50lJicXc/video.html The second advantage of going from an i5 to an i7 is a higher CPU frequency. With the CPU running at a faster speed, you'll see better performance in gaming, browsing, rendering, etc. Pretty much better performance all around. The i7 will also be able to overclock to a higher frequency than the i5, if you're into overclocking. Lastly, the i7 (9700K) comes with an additional 2 cores and 2 threads, compared to the i5 (9600K). Meaning, the CPU is able to process more information at a time. This also means that the CPU can handle more applications at a time.
      Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any more questions!

      Wiltshire Tutorials also I have a i5-3470 wish is a dell optiplex 7010 and 1155 socket , for more FPS what’s the best i7 Should i upgrade to ?

      Your upgrade path would be an i7 3770. Since you are using a Dell Optiplex 7010, it does not allow the ability to overclock the 'K' variant of the i7 3770. The 'K' variants are unlocked CPU which allow you to adjust the CPU frequency to your liking. The non-K versions of CPUs are cheaper. Therefore, you will have to go with a 'locked' CPU, a.k.a i7 3770. That is the best CPU for the LGA 1155 socket.
      Quick question for you; what GPU are you using in your Dell Optiplex 7010?

    If you updated the bios could dell not have disabled ht by default for the new zombie load vulnerability, it's kind of amazing how many of these issues are surfacing

      They could! I haven't updated the BIOS on the motherboard at all. I imagine enabling HyperThreading would disable the patches if they did block it. Hard to say really. The amount of issues bubbling to the surface for Intel is shocking.

    How much is this build total?

    • @WiltshireTutorials
      @WiltshireTutorials  Před 4 lety +1

      Hard to say because I found this Optiplex 3040 in the garbage. I did buy the PSU, GPU, CPU Cooler and an additional stick of RAM.
      If I calculate all of that, it totals to $610 CAD or $464 USD

    I wonder if its possible to mess around with the processor boost states on intel like you can with Zenstates on linux with ryzen.

      Intel isn't that nice. That's what BCLK was for. But, Intel blocked it with BIOS updates after they caught wind that people were boosting the frequency on their locked processors.
