I have a 2015 CR-V. Bought it brand new with 4 miles and now it has over 115k miles. Great on gas (33+ mpg on avg), easy to drive, really reliable and dependable. Only issue is there is a lot of noise into the cabin at any speed. Not sure if it is road noise or tire noise. But overall a good car. I will keep it for as long as I can.

The rear calipers are on these 12-16 CRVs are a common problem in my area. Even with periodic fluid changes and brake services, nothing seems to stop it. I probably replace 3-4 of them a month, and at our sample size that’s pretty high. Other parts of NA might not see it as bad as you head south, but even in the NJ area I would be amazed if you didn’t see this happening.
All in all, I completely agree that the 15-16 CRV are also my favourite. I’m actually going to be looking into selling my 2018 2.0 civic and buying one of these. It will be the perfect addition to my other 2012 civic as far as reliability 👌🏼

I have a 2012 CrV with 150k miles. Original owner. I still have the original rotors. Still surprised that they aren’t warped. Only thing that went wrong with it was the VTC actuator. I changed it myself in my garage for $200 with valve cover gasket with oem Honda parts. Also the compass went bad and started to always blink. So I unplugged the module under the headliner in the cargo area. It turned off the annoying blinking all together. I personally would take the 2012-2014 CRV for the traditional automatic.

Then it stopped working again, the compressor Pully seized, stopped the car, and caused a big headache. Then the VCT issue popped up, but that was a simple fix. The car is working fine now, but man we just want to get her a current model Acura RDX 2.0L

    Water Pump (Yamada)
    Timing Belt Tensioner
    Timing Belt
    Alternator Belt

Hi there thank you so much for this video. My main concern is the keyless start push button start. I’m terrified it might fail. I just got it used from Carmax w way too many miles for what I spent on it but lots of guarantees. I can also return in 30 days if I want. Like any new used car this suv is huge compared to my 1999 Forester I’m replacing. I did. my homework compared rav4 to this looked like Honda won in many areas. So I’m terrified has anyone’s keyless start stop ever not worked for them and what would be the fix? Also for the “ drain all the fluid and replace” WHST fluid and where. Any help much appreciated. I’d be more excited about my purchase if it had a key. Do all newer cars have keyless ignition? Please advise thank you so much!💕

    Woohoo, my vehicle!
It’s been a decent car so far and I just crossed 160,000 km not too long ago. With your advice I think I’ll be doing a lot better.
One of the best things you can do if you have a non-touring model is add CarPlay with a USB (I believe it borrows software from the HRV). It is completely seamless with Lane Watch and everything.
I’ve had everything happen to me with my vehicle with the water pump failing (100,000 km), timing belt tensioner (140,000 km) causing the rattle and brake rotors warping. I had an additional issue with a failed starter (150,000 km).
At this point I’m due for a valve adjustment, brake fluid bleed and CVT filter change. Since I’m doing oil/fluid changes I’ll be more aggressive with that at around 5,000 km. I’m at 6,000 km right now and the oil is dark.
Oil consumption seems to have slowed with a PCV valve change with a 3/4th left between the high and low dots (question, how much oil is between the two dots, would that mean it burns a quarter quart?)
Of course one quirk about this car is that even as a 2016 model, when it’s warmed to temp, the low idle at around 650 rpm will vibrate the car. I would take vibrations over the L15 any day. 😅

Then two weeks ago while driving the engine started making noise on acceleration and some power loss, took it to the Honda dealer, it's still under the extended warranty 84m/100k expiring in 3 months no less. We were told the A/C Compressor failed, "it's not leaking" just not working they said, told me it would cost $3k to fix, confused I asked about the extended warranty coverage and after a few moments, they did confirm it. Now they say there's no part available and they have to order it. It's been almost two weeks and I have not heard from them, still waiting for that call back to return vehicle. Did rear differential twice already and maintain everything well as I drive all day for work as Hospice worker. My ONLY issue with it is that on highway going 60+ MPH I feel a little vibration. Wheels are balanced and suspension is solid. I know these had the infamous vibration issues, but could it be an imbalance driveshaft on this year? That was an issue in the past. Some say it is the direct injection and offset cylinders that caused vibration in this year, but who knows. Otherwise, it has been great vehicle. I’m looking into buying a used 2015 Cr-v from an individual who is the original owner. It has 98k Miles on it and she is selling it for $16,600. Since we are now post pandemic and used car prices have sky rocketed it’s the best deal I have found since there will be no dealership taxes, fees etc. Any advice about this possible purchase?

    • @lazyrider6918
      @lazyrider6918 Před 10 měsíci

@@Justhereforthefood12 Prices are crazy but she is asking what a dealership would for that price. IF it is a creampuff, it could still be a good value if you can get at least 100k trouble free miles out of it.
I got a crazy good deal pre pandemic on mine at a Subaru dealership. I traded in a 2005 Outback with blown head gaskets, so car was basically worthless on trade in but I walked out the door for $14k with tax with 65K miles. Plus mine had new Michelin Tires, front brakes and rotors.
Make sure she there aren't any of the usual basic things needed like brakes, tires etc that you can bargain down if needed. if you pay asking an then need to do those normal things wear and tear items, then that isn't a great deal.
Plus, see if she changed the CVT transmission and rear differential fluids were changed regularly. These are not LIFETIME fluids. Plus ask about vibration fix and if she had TSB done. I would say $15 k is a more fair deal all in.

i have 7 year old crv... just mcouple months back im hearing rattle noise but cant seem to pinpoint if the noise is coming from the dash or engine bay area. its random. by the time i went to a garage the noise seem to disappear. The rattle noise is apparent upon start up. moving from park to drive if the rpm is below 1000. noise appear sometime upon slowing down / or about to stop or on full stop. and its annoying.

My daughter has the 2016 with about 85K miles on it. A few months ago I did every fluid, brakes, spark plugs, serpentine belt, valve adjustment, etc. The worst part was the rear brakes - pads were really seized because of the rust and rust is not an issue around here. 🤔. Do not like those pads with the clips that go into the caliper piston.
No issues with front rotors, but i completely agree with you about the rotors being to thin. Same in the Accords. But the Accord V6 6 speed rotors (or Pilot rotors) last a very long time.
And the K24 does consume more oil as it ages. Otherwise it's a solid engine.

I discovered in a Honda Forum that the auto-unlock sensors on the door handles can go bad and cause a parasitic drain on the battery. For me, it was my passenger side. I noticed the handle unlocking when I came near it, even without touching it. I had the dealership disconnect the sensor on the passenger door lock and that fixed it for me. (You can still lock and unlock with the fob.) My dealership was well aware of this issue. May be something to check.
